Ordered a Western Omelette through grubhub. Upon eating there was a very long strand of hair EMBEDDED within the omelette. It was so embedded within the substance of the egg that it was hard to pull out and even made a noticeable track within the omelette after pulling it full out. Disgusting to say the least and lost appetite. I called and staff apologized and gave me a refund, which is the only reason it is 2 stars not 1 star. They admitted to NOT wearing a hair net! This place is down the street from my office. So it's convenient for lunch. I love their lemon rice soup. My go-to order is the grilled chicken sandwich. The staff is pleasant. The food is excellent. I was the only person in here for breakfast at 7:00 on a weekday, but that's okay. I arrived just as they were opening up, turning on lights and getting this set. So my waitress was attentive and undistracted. This was nice. I opted for the corned beef hash and eggs breakfast which was prepared exactly as I ordered. Eggs poached and one broke. She was sincerely apologetic about that an offered to make a replacement. What? Not needed but very much appreciated. The corned beef was decent and the eggs were just excellent. This probably more of a tip than a review. I didn't eat here because we couldn't get any service. We walked in and waited to be told we could seat ourselves and then continued to wait and wait and wait. You get the picture. We will be pretty forgiving if we see waitstaff "in the weeds" rushing around trying to catch up. But on a Sunday morning on a holiday weekend with no less than four wait staff hanging out chatting paying no mind to the fact that potential diners were waiting. We were out. This is a solid place for breakfast. We always have excellent service, good food, and no complaints. Its not high end food, but its better than your average coney island. A LOT of choices, and their eggs benedict and choc chip pancakes stand out. I've had several of their salads for lunch and been pleasantly surprised at the quality and portions. Really good Greek food. Definitely not Olga's! Lol The lamb is tender and flavorful. Portion sizes are great! My husband ordered extra meat on his gyro and really didn't need to. And the fact that extra meat is only $2 is amazing in itself. The hummus is super fresh and the bread they give is grilled and delicious! The vegetarian grape leaves are really good as well. Will not be going here again! Went there yesterday for breakfast. Walked in and there was no one to seat us so we took a booth when directed to sit wherever we wanted. Immediately noticed that both the salt and pepper shakers were almost completely empty. I set them out for the waitress to deal with. She brought the ketchup bottle as shown. Disgusting. I LOVE this place. I'm new to the area and my favorite thing in life is having a versatile family restaurant nearby that I can depend on. Red Olive is IT. The restaurant is clean, service is quick and friendly and the food is fresh and reasonably priced. We've had Italian, Greek and breakfast there and it's all great. Their Rosa Marina soup is fantastic - it's a tomato-based soup with orzo and shredded chicken. And their Saganaki has a decent portion of cheese; larger than most places. There were 3 girls at the counter. The red head looked at me and didnt smile or speak. I was seated by anither young lady who I am positively certain was the most courteous of the bunch. Food....well you get what you pay for wouldn't be the best way to put it because I've had cheaper diner food that was much more tasty than this. Traditionally I've gone to the Red Olive and enjoyed a solid meal. This time was a little less then appealing, and was met with little remorse on the part of the establishment. My wife, daughter and I went for a lite dinner, of which I had a Garden omelette, my wife had grape leaves and my daughter had a falafel. While everything came quickly, the meal was made undesirable when my daughter discovered mold on the pit bread. This was pointed out to the server, but neither new pita bread was offered, nor was any consideration given on our check. Everyone avoided us until we departed. After several visits to Red Olive, based on this experience, my family has asked to take a brake from this restaurant, with the hope both customer service and product quality improve by the time we return. read more
