I had seen mixed reviews on this Red Lobster location, but it being lent and us arriving from out of town we tried it. Service was great. We were seated immediately. We had drinks that were great. The cheddar bay biscuits showed up, as perfect as one would hope they'd be! I had the lobster fest plate, featuring lobster Mac and cheese and a Maine lobster tail, steamed broccoli and hush puppies. We were in town for a few days. We tried some local restaurants, but decided we wanted something familiar on the last night in town. Food: It's Red Lobster. Everything was cooked just like any other Red Lobster, was very satisfied. It's not fine dining, but it's something we occasionally crave. Service: After reading numerous reviews that were overwhelmingly negative regarding the service at this location, I was nervous to bring our family here on our last night in town. Our experience was AMAZING from a service perspective. Our waiter Dave was very approachable and attentive. At the end of the meal, he came over and asked our shy 5yo and 7yo kids if they would be interested in seeing one of the lobsters up close. Both said no, but he kindly convinced them to let him show them without getting too close. He carried out their biggest live lobster and proceeded to explain all of the body parts and what they are used for (only took him 60-90 seconds). That resulted in my kids asking him an additional 4-5 questions about lobster which he answered. Then the kids asked to touch it, which he let them do. After Dave put the lobster back, he gave each kid some red lobster beads, and we were on our way. The whole drive back to the hotel, the kids wouldn't stop talking about the lobster. They will remember that experience forever, and it was a highlight to end our roadtrip before heading home the next morning. We had a reservation at 6:45 PM and did not get seated till seven. Then once sat at our table, we were able to get our drink orders in within 5 to 10 minutes of sitting down once. We ordered our food though it took over 45 minutes to arrive at our table and when it did arrive, our lobster was cold and the pasta that I ordered they gave me the wrong one. When the supervisor came over to our table to ask us about our complaint, she was speaking very loudly and was interrupting other people's dinners when I was trying to make this a very small interaction and not involve other people. After that my boyfriend and I decided that we wanted to leave and just not get our food and just pay for what we had eaten. So I decided to go find her and tell her that we didn't want our new food anymore and that we were just gonna leave. She understood what I said perfectly but then when I sat back down at my table, she decides to bring our food out with the check with everything on the check and expected me to pay for it. I then told our waitress that we didn't want any of this food and we just wanted to pay for what we ate and she ended up taking the check away and apologizing for the poor interaction that I had with her supervisor and told me that they had not had a general manager in over a month. Today was my girlfriends birthday so I decided to do something special. She loves lobster and shrimp as do I so I took us to Red Lobster. We have been there several times in the past with decent service and great tasting seafood. At least as great as can be expected in the midwest. When we got there, it was a 30-40 minute wait. Not a big deal. We are perfectly fine with waiting for good food. We sat down and ordered drinks. The server came back with the drinks, the biscuits and no straw. They had a sign saying they don't provide straws unless you ask for one so I was fine with it at that point. They asked if we were ready to order yet, my girlfriend said no. I started to ask for a straw and the server walked off. I have facial hair and drinking iced drinks without a straw gets messy. Mild annoyance. She comes back for our order. At this point we had finished our biscuits which were soggy but still tasted decent. We order the Lobster Lovers Dream for $41 each person. I attempted to ask for a straw again and was going to ask for more biscuits but she turned around and walked off while I was mid sentence. Slight annoyance. When she brought out the salad, the waitress noticed my girlfriends drink was empty. She ordered a 2nd alcoholic drink and requested a straw (for me) so I finally got one. I attempted to ask for more biscuits again and again she turned around and walked off while I was mid sentence. Annoyed. My girlfriend does not drink that often so 2 drinks on a mostly empty stomach normally gets her a decent buzz going. It had no effect this evening. I took a sip of her 2nd drink and tasted no alcohol. At this point I was very annoyed. However, I knew it was busy and am able to forgive people when they are trying to help several people at once so I did my best to be understanding and waited for the meal as the wonderful taste of tender lobster dipped in molten butter would make me forget the issues we had up to that point. Or so I thought. The meals came with 2 lobster tails and shrimp linguine. I also had a baked potato. They seem to have cooked the plate longer than the food as that was the hottest part of the meal. The baked potato was warm, not hot. The linguine was somewhat stiff and rubbery and didn't hardly change shape as I pulled it out with my fork. The lobsters were both also rubbery which means they were overcooked yet they were also only warm and not hot. This means that after being overcooked, they were sitting for some time before brought to the table. They must have known it was my girlfriends birthday as she was blessed with a knife included with her meal while I was expected to cut my rubbery food with a fork. I returned mine as it was un-edible. My girlfriend was very hungry as she had not eaten since a small breakfast and ate her linguine which she found edible but far from great. The server took my food and asked if I wanted them to remake it or if I wanted something else. Considering how long it took to get bad food, I did not want to wait around until they got it right. I had places to be in a couple hours and did not have that kind of time. I declined and she took the food and walked away. No apology, no attempt to make it right, not even an offer for more biscuits. She brought the bill and took off the food I returned and we never saw her again. At this point my girlfriend finished the pasta and got around to her lobster and encountered the same issue. It was overcooked as well. She left the lobster on the plate. So I ended up paying $65 for one salad, 4 soggy biscuits, 1 soda, 2 alcoholic drinks with almost no alcohol and 1 order of shrimp linguine. I am an understanding person. I understand it gets busy. I understand mistakes get made. I understand that much of what happens with the food is out of the hands of the server. In the rare cases I get bad food I still tip well if the service was decent. This is the first time I have left no tip. Had the server actually paid attention to me in addition to my girlfriend, got us more biscuits, apologized for the issues with the food and made an attempt to make sure we were taken care of after I returned my food, she would have got at least a 20% tip based on what the full meal would have cost which would have put the tip at around $20-25. Instead she got an amount equal to the amount of effort she used in making sure we were taken care of. I will not be returning. read more

Had an absolutely wonderful evening here with my girlfriend celebrating an anniversary. Not very packed, but great service, delicious food, and a nice ambiance of course, very typical red lobster. It's unfortunate to see so many bad reviews, because I thought that they did a great job. I had an amazing shrimp and tilapia seasonal dish, and my girlfriend vied for the crab. We also split some particularly savory clam chowder fries. She didn't like them quite as much as I did, but I suspect that's because of my affinity to chowder (I go to school on the east coast, and this chowder gets a solid 7/10 from me). The waiter made MANY mistakes. 1. My mom said "I'll have a mango martini, please." And my dad said, "Sane thing for me." The waiter only brought one and my dad had to ask again 2. I ordered fries and a Caesar salad as sides, but he didn't bring me a salad. So I had to ask again for it. 3. My dads meal came with coleslaw, but the waiter didn't bring it 4. I ordered a Dr. Pepper and he brought it out, but when I finished it he came with another glass but it was a Pepsi. 5. I had a bowl of clam chowder as an appetizer but he didn't give me a spoon. I had to ask again. The food was honestly really bad. One of the worst meals of my life. The clam chowder as mentioned above was obviously old. I would dance down the street naked if that was fresh. It was watery, floury, the clams were like rubber, and there was next to no seasoning. I had a shrimp trio that had scampi, fried butterfly's, and pasta with Alfredo and linguini. The pasta was cold. Somebody doesn't know how to use a microwave. The shrimp was WAY over cooked. The scampi was ok. The fried shrimp was bland. All I tasted was dry batter. There are SO many other restaurants in this area that you should just avoid this place. I'd rather go to McDonald's to be honest. read more

Went there on a Thursday night before attending a concert in town. I hadn't been at a Red Lobster for several years, but I received a gift card, so why not. All in all, it was a very good visit. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated right away. Our host and waitress were polite and attentive. I had the seafarer's plate and my daughter had the shrimp tacos. We received our biscuits, salad, and entrees in a timely manner. The food was good. Honestly, I have had better, but that has been at establishments near the ocean and not in South Dakota. The shrimp was flavorful, the scallops were cooked acceptably, not rubbery or chewy. The lobster tail was o.k., but a little dry and stringy. Melted butter can make anything better. :-) For a side, I had the lobster mashed potatoes. Lobster pieces, mashed potatoes, and butter--always a tasty combo. We are new to the area, and had not visited one of our favorite chain restaurants, Red Lobster. Decided to go for early lunch today, around 11:30 a.m. Sadly, our anticipation ended in big disappointment. I do want to say, straight out of the gate, our server, Dawn, was the one and only saving grace to this visit!! SHE WAS WONDERFUL!! They are fortunate to have her!! The rest of the story does not go so well. The "Host" that seated us, may as well call it a day and go home...it was obvious he either does not like his job, or was having a bad day. He asked how many? Those were his only words to us. No "Hello", no "Welcome", no smile, nothing. Lead us to a table, literally tossed the silverware on the table, put the menus down, turned his back and walked away. Zero reply when we thanked him. No "Enjoy your meal", NOTHING!! Great that he's working, but maybe a different line of work would suit him better. Seriously, we could "feel" his attitude. Next up: Husband ordered his favorite dish. Bar Harbor Bake. Lobster looked so unappealing, in addition, the lobster, shrimp, and scallops, were all dry and literally rubbery. He actually bounced a shrimp on his bread plate, to show me what he meant. Several of the mussels weren't open, and the rest all had cracked/broken shells, so pieces of the shell got mixed in with the pasta. Dear Dawn, had overheard us discussing the chincey and unappealing lobster. Bless her heart, she stopped by and asked if the lobster shell was void of meat? We said yes, it really was. She was gracious and said "I'm going to get you another one". When she brought out the new lobster piece, it was sooooo much better!! We told her how we appreciated her paying attention, etc. She asked if everything else was ok. We weren't going to say anything further, but she asked. I said we typically would not/do not like to complain, but honestly, his whole meal was way less than worth the price. We were kind. It was not her fault. She said it's important for them to know when things are not right. She did offer to bring something else. Again, She's the rockstar in this. She did let the Manager know. Sadly, the Manager did not acknowledge our experience. The very last thing...we have regarded Red Lobster as much more than a coffee shop type restaurant, or fast food place, but some workers, in the public eye, had the droopy, saggy butt jeans, ball caps on backwards etc. That's all fine and good in different settings. We're just accustomed to SO much more from this chain. P.S.- My meal was good! The irony is, I had the new Waygu Burger, so we were at a seafood restaurant, where the seafood wasn't good, but the burger was great. read more

We walked in knowing it was the day before Mother's Day so we expected it to be busy and of course it was! Our biggest issue is that we were told a half hour wait time! But finally by an 1 hour wait we were seated but had to complain first and they weren't even saying sorry for it! Literally the hostess was telling everyone that came in a half hour to almost everyone no matter the group size! Our biggest problem was we know they seated people that had a bigger party before us that came in after us but yet they denied that. And saying that a group of 5 is hard to seat! This review is just for the lunch take away- I've never stayed to eat. The pasta was fine, but fries tasted like they were made yesterday, plus lukewarm. Burger was spongy frozen high school cafeteria type and overcooked. Obvs, the biscuits were delicious but looked like the bag had been stomped on. We called to see if they might try to make it right but didn't have time (on a lunch break) to wait for it- no refund/future coupon offered. I'll stick to the food court at the mall, thanks. The two stars are for the pasta and the otherwise careful packaging for our to go order. I placed an order a 12:20 for a 4:30 pick up. I ordered the largest feast and paid for it in advance including a tip. I arrived at 4:25 to pick up my meal and waited until 5:14 to get my meal. At 4:50 I asked to speak to a manager and she did not come out until after I received my food and I told the staff that I was not leaving until I spoke with the manager. She came out and I explained the situation and informed her I was not happy with the service or the fact that she wouldn't come out to see me until after my food finally arrived. The manager looked at me and said what do you want me to do about it? I explained that I wanted to be compensated and she said wait here, an employee came out and handed me a 25 dollar gift certificate shortly after. I arrived home and checked my meal and discovered my second side of green beans was not included all in all not a great dining experience. read more

We took our grandson for his 18th birthday. (his request). The manager asked if we were celebrating anything special, and we told him it was our grandson's birthday dinner. The manager said I'll do something special. The waitress asked the same question and received the same answer. All three of us ordered the lobster and shrimp combo ($23 plus each) we all began with a Caesar salad, it was very good, the cheese bread was also good. We were surprised at the small size of the lobster tail. But we accepted that, however we each complained of sone of the shrimp be very mushy. Our waitress said she was sorry, but that sometimes happens, and there is nothing wrong with the shrimp. On top of that the lobster tail was very dry from over grilling. In the end we had a $94 bill with tip, the manager and waitress failed to do anything special for our grandson's birthday. We have been to several Red Lobster restaurants around the country, but this was our worst experience. The place was unclean, the staff unattentive, and all three of us were very ill later that night. Do yourself a big favor and skip this Red Lobster. read more

To add insult to injury there was a clump of hair in my food and didn't do anything to fix it even after I talked to a manager. No discount, no free meal, no making me a new dish just a "sorry sir". iordered curbside from Red Lobster (3901 W 41st Street, EMPIRE MALL, Sioux Falls, SD) today. Order to be ready at 12:46. I arrived at 12:41 & parked in curbside spot. I had received a text from them telling me to do so and to text when I arrived. I did. I then received a text saying they'd be out shortly. At 12:57, I called, was on hold for 2 minutes, then was told my order had been ready for 15 minutes but I had to come in. I told them I ordered curbside. They said they don't do that anymore. I said I have a baby in the car and can't come in and that their website says they do it & told them about my texts. Still said no. I nicely again explained I have a baby in the car, so she sighed and said someone would bring it out. After another few minutes, a guy who has worked there only a couple weeks came out. I explained my frustration and showed him my texts. He said he'd pass it along. He was very nice, so hopefully he gets the tip I had prepaid. I was sitting at the bar and my bartender Karla was nice and super friendly but the rest of the atmosphere I could tell the employees were annoyed and acted like they absolutely hated their job. I saw an employee walk out of the kitchen with a salad and said "sorry I'm clocked out" doesn't seem everyone gets along here or likes working here which is very disappointing for a customer to witness this. They make it very noticeable they do not like working here. I do not want to sit at a bar where their employees are rolling their eyes and bitching. I definitely think the employees could step up the game on friendliness and not so hostile (Karla was good tho.) unfortunately after my awkward yet intense experience hearing and watching the workers I will not be back. read more
