This employee was so furt with her and actually argued with this poor elderly lady that the machine did move. WOW then she'd left her area for some sort delivery another customer came in yelling if they needed a cashier or what. Terrible experience with this bank. I had fraudulent charges on my account and they refuse to do anything to help me even with proof of identity theft and a police report. They say I "authorized" $5,000 of charges and refuse to provide proof of how they were authorized. read more

I'm deeply disappointed by Red Canoe Credit Union's handling of my auto loan. After a year of on-time payments, I noticed unusual withdrawal activity and payment issues in April. I contacted them in early May to resolve what I believed was an internal technical error. Despite having sufficient funds and following the instructions I was given, my account was mishandled--and my vehicle was posted for repossession without any written notice or meaningful support. The problem stemmed from what appeared to be a system glitch, yet instead of helping me resolve it, Red Canoe escalated the situation with no accountability. I mailed and emailed a formal dispute, followed up multiple times, and filed complaints with both the CFPB and Washington State Attorney General. I've received no response at all one month later. It's unacceptable for a credit union to ignore a member in distress--especially when their own systems caused the issue. read more

Mortgage Department is a joke. I cannot get anyone to follow up on a request. So far I have had three people handle the initial request and then it drops into a black hole. This is a loan that my deceased mother had, and is being paid off in big lump sums within 2 years, but regardless, they are not able to offer customer service at all. What do they do? Just process the initial loan? If my husband and I ever want an equity or new mortgage we will NEVER use these guys. Oh and the way, the "servicing" company" they use is in timbuktu, and the people in the Longview who you talk to cannot make any decisions without their approval (in the black hole). Very good people in the bank itself. Call center, most of them are nice. The few who ate not are more than nasty enough for everyone. I called up and asked how to do something, got a snotty lady. Asked for a supervisor, nope. Hangs up on me. I call back to ask my question and leave a complaint about the rude person. No one calls. Their systems are being updated and it is hard frustrating. Bank cards randomly don't work for a day. All this is normal and most credit unions offer pretty much the same menu. The only thing any of them can offer more of and better SERVICE. Highly disappointed as I've been a member since 1994. I've had several loans and always paid them off early when I was working. Now that I'm retired they denied me a loan that would have consolidated my bills and I'm currently making the payments with no late payments. With the consolidation I'd save 200 bucks a month. But they wouldn't do a loan when I actually needed it. I'm considering switching to a different credit union as my previous history with Red Canoe means nothing to them. read more

Manager and staff on Allen street branch should have a proper coaching in communication and customer relations. This is my go to bank for all my financial needs. I've had the pleasure of working with several tellers, bankers, and the management once and they all genuinely want to be as helpful as they can. At times they can get very busy and have a large line but they have enough tellers to get through everyone quickly and effectively. This is one of the few banks open on weekend too which is helpful. They offer a great deal doing balance transfers for credit cards to help people get out of debt too which I used and found to be immeasurably helpful. So was banking here since 2021. Opened an Account everything seemed fine. Then I ran into some issues with my Pay dates changing. No worries...right? No...Red Canoe charges you a Courtesy Fee of $30 to over draw your account even if you don't want that to happen. So if a bill comes in as an Reoccurring fee, and they don't deny the charge, they pay it...then charge you a $30 "Courtesy Fee" I went from 2 dollars, to Negative $500+ Event after I went in and demanded that be stopped. Nope it went through again and again. Even after I told them, Stop all charges. Nope, said it was my fault. I have never had a bank or Credit union do this ever. I am the kind of person that lives paycheck to paycheck, sometimes a bill doesn't get paid right on time. Honestly the worst banking experience I have EVER had in my life. I sent my car loan payment via bill pay (with documentation showing that the money was withdrawn from my account -before my due date), and due to either a system error on my primary bank's end, or a postal service delay, the payment arrived to Red Canoe late. They immediately reported this to all three credit bureaus (which is how I found out about the "late" payment in the first place), and my score dropped 117 points - I have never missed a car payment in my life. I am in the middle of buying a house. I called the bank multiple times to explain what happened, and there is "nothing they can do" and obviously could not care less. I absolutely cannot refinance this loan with another lender fast enough. Please, please, please AVOID THIS BANK. I will for sure be telling everyone I know (including the finance manager at the dealership who works with this place) to avoid at all costs. read more

This place time and time again oh my gosh..I dont know how they stay in business..the customer service deplorable. They wont cash a check signed to my wife for 15$ if I dont get forced to open a account when we have a 300,000 loan with them! Got a 10,000 credit card only for emergencies go to use it as a emergency it was declined for 1200.00 .. 3 times before letting a CEO have it about the one job a c.c is suppose to do is make a purchase. I LOVE Red Canoe! Formerly/still known as WECU, Weyerhauser Employees Credit Union, a few years ago they got a name and branding update since they are open to everyone with an affiliation with the whole state of Washington or certain counties in Oregon. They are headquartered in Longview where I grew up, but all the branches I've been to have equally great service. The people are friendly, they have bowls of candy, they make you feel welcome, it's easy to get your banking needs taken care of. And they really care about contributing to the community. But here's the reason they get an unequivocal five stars... drumroll.... in my about ten years as a member, transitioning from a teen to a student to an adult, using different service types, they have NEVER charged me a fee. EVER. For anything. Not one cent. I have lived in Longview, and on the east coast, and in another country, and now in SF.. and I will never give up my Red Canoe account. If you are even slightly considering doing business with any financial institution, go here! You won't regret it!!! read more

I have a small business account here. I just got charged fees that I did not know about for depositing and withdrawing money that apparently went over some amount not disclosed. Called 4 different times and no one could outline the exact rules for why I was getting fees. Not once did anyone offer to reverse the fees. Finally got an answer 3 days later. read more

A great bank! After years of dealing with the unethical and uncaring Wells Fargo and Bank of America, I'm so very glad I found Red Canoe when I moved to Longview. They actually seem to care about their members. Any time I have some type of issue or problem, I've called and spoke with a polite and helpful banker that fixes my problems. My most recent incident serves as a great example: I have a VISA credit card through Red Canoe CU. My payment was due on the 16th (a Wednesday) and I didn't make the payment until I received my next paycheck on the 18th (a Friday). On Monday the 21st, I noticed that VISA had charged me a $25 late fee for the payment and it hadn't processed yet. I called the main RCCU branch, waited a minute or two on hold, and then explained my situation to the friendly woman (Hallie) who was helping me out. I told her I was under the impression that I had a 5 day grace period on my payment. She put me on hold for a few minutes to look into the situation. She explained that Visa has a delay at times when payments come through on a weekend. She said the late charge shouldn't be on there and should go away when the payment (within the 5 day grace period) is processed. She went above and beyond and gave me her direct line and the hours she would be available the next day to call her back if the late charge wasn't removed. Thankfully, the late charge was removed on Tue the 22nd and I didn't have to call the bank back. I am completely confident that if I still had an issue, they would have handled it. read more

I live 30 miles from the closest RC so as a business I have to do mobile deposits. They do NOT release funds until my edt or checks go through and therefore I have had numerous $30 charges against my account. Way to go for supporting small businesses RC. I would NOT recommend them and have heard the same from others. I have used red canoe for the last 5 years and of course once my loan is about over they find ways to fee you to death. I sent in my truck payment like normal and went on with life. 3 months later they send me a late notice. They said they never got my payment.... No big deal made the extra payment. Now I owe them 75 dollars in late fees because my payment is 3 months late. The whole time this went on they were hitting my credit with 30 day lates. Even though I settled up with them now they won't fix my credit... They have terrible customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. I've had an account for years, paid of multiple cars and ran a business account with this credit union. Regularly found the staff unreliable yet I just passed it off as "small town" and let it go. When I closed my business, a check to another business came in after the fact in error. They refused the check, no money lost to them, then assessed nearly $100 in fees to a closed business account. All this happened without my knowledge. As the business had been closed for months. The next time I deposited in my personal Red Canoe account they took the money from my separate, unconnected personal account. When called on it they refused to remove fees even though for YEARS all the accounts had been kept in perfect standing. After years of being an excellent customer, paying off multiple auto loans and running tens of thousands of dollars through their business this is the great treatment of the little guy by our LOCAL credit union. Red Canoe has either lost focus or abandoned much of the 'small town' service it may have offered at one time. A lot of waiting and very slow service when we opened an acct, and they had just one person working a multiple lane drive thru yesterday. It took ten minutes to help the one lady who was there first, and while I was in a different Lane, my deposit sat for so long that my wife finally asked me to hit the call button to see if it had been forgotten. I'm not an impatient person, and I had time to wait. However, they leave a lot of questions about what their business model might be. read more

Very disappointed they only list an 800 number for all of your branches and then when you call that you can't get transfer to a live person you have to leave a message. I can understand someone being busy and not being able to get through right away but I would think if your calling into and 800 number you would be able to get a hold of someone. read more

If I could give Red Canoe Credit Union a negative rating, I would. First of all, we live out of state so we have to go to a sister branch to make payments. We went in to make a payment and there was some sort of block on the account. So we had to leave and try to get it figured out with someone at the Longview, WA branch. BTW, the worst people to work with are Donna Yonker, Jessica Rutlidge, and Tim Amato. This incident happened on a Friday and we were unable to go to make the payment on Saturday because we were going to be out of town. So, we missed out payment and my husband flew into Seattle for business that Monday and went straight to the branch to make a payment. They refused to take our money for the payment. Came back and said that we would now have to pay the car IN FULL!!! The note on the care was around 8k and the car is probably worth MAYBE 3k. After a lot of back and for with the above mentioned individuals, they decided that not only would we have to pay the car loan in FULL, now they wanted us to pay off our Visa IN FULL (10k). So this 3k car had turned into a nearly $20k nightmare!!! They refuse to email you back and try to work something out. They put you between a hard place and say their way is the only way or the highway. So, here we are with a repossession order out for this 14 year old Mercedes!! And on top of this, they hire a repossession company that harasses your friends and family. It's complete nightmare that could've been avoided had they just let us make a payment on a Monday. I've never had another bank treat me the way that they do. I'll be keeping my business with WSECU from here on out! read more
