What we did find were exceptional greens and wide open fairways in excellent condition. This is a shot makers course and if you don't stay in the fairway you'll be looking for your ball among the pine cones and good luck with that. The previous Head Pro, Matt has moved on to Piney Point in Norwood, NC. The new guy is Wally Moore. There are also two new ladies in the Pro Shop, Kayla and Melissa who are very efficient at getting you in and out. The range, chipping and putting practice areas are all in great condition. It was sunny day, a little on the cool side at 61 degrees for a 10a tee time with wind gusting to 27 mph. We had great pace of play and finished the front in 2 hours, it had warmed up to 67 and the wind was down. We made the turn and kept on playing as the group in front of us moving so we were able to play ready golf and complete the round in 4 hours. They advertise to allow 4.5 hours for 18 holes. Since this was my third time playing in 3 years, I had some course knowledge which made a big difference, especially on #11, 452 yard par 5. It's a blind shot until you're about 200 yards out and then you can see the edge of the pond that juts out to the right. You have a decision to make. Go over the water or play to the right & avoid the pond on your left and have 200 yards of open fairway to the pin. It's a large green so a well placed shot will give you a great birdie opportunity. I would play here more often but it's a 40+ mile trek through Charlotte traffic but it's worth it.

Tee boxes are ok, but nothing to write home about. The course drains pretty well and management does an excellent job of identifying holes that need cart path only. The course is challenging but not too difficult. I'd say a 3 out of 5. Greens were not difficult to read and they were not super fast. You'll find some slow golfers out there and no ranger to push people along. Also, you cannot book a tee time online which is the worse thing about this place. Would I go back? For sure! It's a great alternative to Emerald Lake.

Don't let the fact that it's a municipal course slow you down. This is the nicest muni I've ever played. It's a Donald Ross design so it's a classic! Richard who runs the inProShop is great and has an answer for every one of your questions. They have a driving range, chipping area & separate putting green. All are in great condition. You will love the wide open fairways! The tee boxes are in great condition & large. They have tee positions that will suit every level of play. Most of the greens were in really good shape. There were maybe three or four that had bare spots but not unusual given the weather. They have GPS on the carts. They had rain the night before so many of the holes were 90 degree or 'cart path only' You will get a beep top and a nasty gram if you try to defeat the guidelines. As a Senior on a Monday, I got a great rate of $48 bucks for 18 holes with cart. It's a course I highly recommend!

The clubhouse and range where nice, but it was not until I rolled some putts on the putting green that my hopes started to rise. They had bent grass that was smooth and blazing fast. The staff were all great. Very friendly and everything you'd hope for at any level course. The course is fantastic. I'd say it has about 3 semi weak holes and even those were fun to play. The overall condition was excellent. The green were amazingly good. The sand in some of the green side bunkers were just ok, but in every other respect this track was so enjoyable to play. The views were stunning. My only regret was my choice of tees. I'm a low handicap senior. I chose the blue tees, which would have been fine with summer roll, but the course proved a bit too tough for me given the softer fall / winter conditions. Don't make my stupid mistake. I can't wait to return to this terrific golf course.

The course is a nice layout with interesting holes and undulating greens. The best thing was that there was no one in front of us and no one behind us. The worst thing was we had to keep our gas-driven cart on the cart path. Next time I'll carry my bag, for nine holes anyway. The course seems pretty walkable. Nice bar & grill with a pool table. Pro shop okay, and has everything you want/need. I'm definitely coming back soon with more friends and family!

This course is #3 on the B-Man's guide to the top 10 Charlotte area golf courses. It's a good course but a #3 seems overrated to me. Understanding it's February so granted, not ideal conditions. Still a problem when you have more than half an entire green surface under repair. You get only one Par 3 on the front and two on the back. The fairways are wide open and forgiving. The tee boxes all in good repair. You get the computerized electric golf carts. The check-in and Staff was smooth and everyone was nice. The bar/restaurant experience was good. As a Senior golfer, you get considerable tee advantage on most all of the holes. There is water but it doesn't come into play. They had patrolling Ranger maintaining pace of play. It is literally right adjacent to the Speedway. On several holes, you can see the Grandstands. I think you want to avoid this place on race day.
