This was also the trip where I was introduced to ticks lol. Even with long sleeves, pants, socks over pants, a jacket, and hat in the hot weather, we still got multiple mosquito bites on our face, hands, and through our clothes. Found about a dozen ticks on us underneath our clothes. Had fun though hiking, setting up our tent and campsite, kayaking for the first time, cooking meals, ears of corn, making smores, experiencing a rainstorm at night. Ty Dad for giving us the tarp to place underneath our tent, otherwise we would've been soaked lol. Also, we saw the cutest porcupine! The porcupine waddled and tried to climb a tree, but changed its mind. Friendly employees. Would like to return during non mosquito/tick season.

We saw SO much wildlife in the 30 hours we stayed there. Fish of all types, deer, wild turkey, toads, owls, eagles, and even a porcupine! The stars were beautfiul and the park in well maintained. Porta potties we're throughout the park and close to our sight, they were clean too. There's a little shop nearby with everything you would need from fresh bait/fishing supplies to grocery items like raw meat and butter. They also had snacks, sodas, beers and we saw a few to go orders of pizza leave too. Such a beautiful lake and amazing representation of Wisconsin wildlife. There's boat launches and kayaks launches in the park. It is also bear country so inform yourself on rules before staying!

I'll start off by saying this. Oh. My. God. Gnarly. I felt like a little chuggin train myself on…read morethis trail, choo choo -in through limestone ravines and and beer slingin rural towns. I got hit in the face by 3 grass hoppers & about 17 butterflies. It was magical. Scattered wooden bridges are found every other mile so you can make it across the raging baraboo river. It was not ragin but rather peaceful like a river you would find in the shire, near bilbo Baggins hobbit home. So what's with the tunnels? I'll say this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it is merely a candle light fading off into the distance. The pitch black man-made pieces of history feel like air conditioning units out of a bikers dream. With rustling springs. Tip-keep your bike light off, walk slow, feel like your floating or about to fall. It's exhilarating, natures THC. another tip-be careful! At some points on the trail you'll come across lose gravel! Just make sure you don't look off into the distance at a pretty tree and cabin. You'll crash into your boyfriend bike and get trail rash. :) Have fun!

Visiting this area is really meant for adventurous people that can handle uneven ground and dense…read morewoods. The signage is very poor and the website doesn't help much either. We drove down 7th as far as we could and then hiked our way back in. We found the "cleared" area slightly south and walked over. The cleared area was hard to walk in and there are holes everywhere- unfortunately many in the mounds too , probably some from looting. We didn't stay very long because we soon noticed ticks ALL over our pants. It was the worst experience I've ever had with ticks and I work outside for a living. Therefore, I highly recommend if you visit do it in the winter or fall as this would be better for less foliage anyways. I really hope this becomes a state park one day where it could be cleared and interpretation provided because right now its not clear what you're looking at at all and I'm an archaeologists and it was still hard to tell their shapes. We only saw conical mounds but there are supposed to be effigies of animals somewhere in that area- probably in the dense forested area farther south near 8th street. Final takes- only visit in the fall/ winter and be prepared for uneven ground with thorns etc.

Yes there is only a port-a-potty and hand sanitizer/water jug situation for washing your hands but... it's a farm. I'm not sure what else is expected. The port-a-potty was in totally acceptable condition for what it was. We did wait quite a while to get on our horses and get going, but we got the treats for the horses (+$10) and really enjoyed just watching the work being done there and petting the dogs and cats and feeding the horses. For us, this waiting portion was a really enjoyable part of our time there! I think it's a matter of your perspective and what experience you're hoping to have. The guides were great with our 6 year old daughter, who wanted to ride her own horse but was nervous about having to control it. She got a very docile horse and the guide was very kind leading her the entire time. The trail was beautiful and the guides were very friendly and kind. They are no-nonsense in some ways but I think that's required! I didn't think I was going to convince our daughter to leave at the end, she was so attached to her horse and all the dogs running around. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.

They have 23 dogs which our boys loved to play with. We had a good time talking to the owner about the history of the ranch. She is very knowledgeable on the area and gave us a lot of interesting information. It was our first time to Wisconsin so she gave us some places to visit. We visited a few of her suggestions and they made our Wisconsin experience even more fun. We are thankful for the hospitality. *My review originally showed four stars but that was a typo. I changed that once I realized it. This place definitely deserves five stars!!

This place is clean and well-maintained. The Porta potty's nearest our tent camping site were…read moreliterally pristine even though it was rainy, and they had a nice little trashcan inside the Porta potty and outside of the Porta potty. It's the details! The land itself was gorgeous, the lady on the phone listened to the fact that I had six teenagers and put us at the spot right by the fishing hole where we had our own private beach for the river. The river the first day was up to our knees with a current that was manageable. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative with tubing ($11 a tube) which is what we wanted to do, but they also rented kayaks and canoes. The girl in the store was the family owner's teenage daughter and she was very sweet. At one point the four 14 year old boys took off on an Adventure down river, so I was in cell phone contact after hours with the owner of the campground trying to find out where they might pull aground when we spotted them coming in on an ATV from a local, friendly neighbor. They have a well-maintained volleyball court, gaga pit, badminton court with all the necessary equipment. They had covered picnic table area and a little camp store with cold pop and ice. They had cabins for rent at $149 a night which I looked into when there was a tornado watch. We were the only tent campers, (maybe other people had actually read the weather report), but it was a very quiet campground with only a crying baby early one morning from the many RV sites. None of us took a shower, but I did use the bathroom and peek into the showers and they were spotlessly clean like everything else. We also took a walk through their butterfly garden, so beautiful and peaceful. And for some reason not very many mosquitoes, not sure if they treat for them or we just got lucky but pretty much no bugs except for some flies when the teenagers didn't wash the dishes properly... it was about $150 for three nights of tent camping which included two sites and five packs of wood. A bargain! You won't regret it! Oh and my last bit involves cell phone reception: if you have T-Mobile you will get no service, if you have Verizon you will go from no service to 1 to 2 bars randomly, and if you have AT&T you will have full service the whole time.

Love this campground! We just spent three days here camping in an electric and water site. The…read morecampground is very well kept. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. We stayed during the week and it was very peaceful and quiet. There were a lot of of children for my three littles to play with. The swimming area is so pretty! It is pretty shallow so it was perfect for my 2 year old and 5year old to play. Our last day we decided to float the river and it was beautiful and an easy float. The owner was friendly as well. My only suggestions are to bring lighter fluid because the wood is a little damp and some type of fly repellant. Mosquitoes were not bad at all which was great! Overall we absolutely loved Lost Falls!

After paying over $500 for a 4 hour rental, I didn't expect to be told upon arrival that the guide…read moredoesn't get any pay except the tip you give him....and then at the end of the trip, they take you to the gas station so that YOU, the customer who already paid them over $500 for the rental, can pay to fill up the gas tank in their vehicle! Very disappointing. I do not recommend this trip if it's raining...even though they say they do operate rain or shine. Other companies that had people out on the trails seemed to have full front shields which shield you from getting hit by the rain in your face going 55 mph while our vehicles only had half shields which don't protect your face (only the bottom half of the front window area.) While we did expect to get wet (based on pictures on the website), we didn't expect the piercing rain in the face. The ride seemed fast, kind of rushed but I think it was more due to the weather and after 3 hours of getting whipped in the face with the rain, we were good anyhow :). Don't get me wrong...it was still a lot of fun and we still had a good time riding through the puddles and sliding around in the clay and mud on the trails. I don't blame our guide for any of this. He was honestly a great person..super friendly, kind, and all around nice guy. This said though, we would not recommend this company due to the issues of them not paying their guides and also them asking the customer to pay for the gas at the end. It's a small thing really..only about $25 for the gas, but after paying over $500 for the rental, you would think they had already factored in the need to provide gas for their vehicle. Also, beware that for restrooms, there is only a portapotty (in case you need to change clothes afterwards as we did :)

Oh My God! These people have got to have one of the coolest jobs in the world…read more Imagine being perched in a tiny glider, swaying along in delicate aeronautical precision. Imagine doing this while you're dressed as a giant white bird. Imagine looking behind you and watching, in awe, as a group of majestic white cranes glide gracefully with you. Imagine that you are slowly but surely reintroducing and repopulating one of several endangered species, in the process. This pseudo migration system was performed with Canada Geese. The O.M. charity does it for Whooping and Sandhill cranes, too. These people work with the DNR in Illinois, Wisconsin, other resting states that have designated wet lands and marshes for these birds; and it's pretty unbelievable. My nephew did a giant school report on this group; they were also nice enough to help him with his project. Came out great! You know, it's one thing for us to hit our GPS and some voice lets us know we need to "adjust our route". I suppose you could say that Operation Migration is a pretty nifty personalized navigation system for these peeps on long legs.
