I was immediately impressed by the sincere interest they showed in learning how to best support his needs. I came to see that from top to bottom, the staff was responsive, friendly, well trained and motivated. Their positivity builds the sense of community that is evident at Country Meadows. It is the single most important ingredient in creating the environment at Country Meadows where residents feel at home and their families feel secure with the level of attention and care that they receive. There are many lovely things about Country Meadows Frederick, but I am most appreciative of the fine people that work there.

They moved into a spacious two bedroom apartment in Independent living. My dad passed away in December 2022 and Country Meadows was able to quickly find a one bedroom apartment for my mom just down the hall from the first apartment. The staff has always been fantastic! Debbie, Emily and Carol have always been there for support and guidance for our family. There are too many staff members to mention; however, from the kitchen wait staff who deliver meals (even putting mom's ice cream in the freezer) to the director have been so good to our parents. There are many activities and trips for the residents to enjoy. My mother has many friends who come to visit her and have told mom what a nice place Country Meadows is. She loves to take them to the Bistro! Our family is so blessed to be a part of the Country Meadows community.

"Tom's" review exactly expresses what I experienced at Tranquility. The cleanliness and care of the facility are excellent. My loved one was always clean too. But the patients were neglected in every other way. And the food in memory care was not good. Food seemed to be lower quality than the assisted living side. My mom declined rapidly. And the facility staff often made promises to the family that weren't kept. The physician, nursing director and facility director are colleagues who have worked together for a long time. (the big three) I felt they often played 'good cop, bad cop' with me and my family. I will give a big kudos to Nicole (? I think that was her name) , the director of the memory care unit. She genuinely cared about the residents and did the best she could with the resources that she had. However, her decision making authority was limited by the 'big three' in power. I will also give a kudos to the hairstylist and the laundry service. My loved one's clothes were always clean and fresh smelling. But, as 'Tom' stated - don't be fooled by the wonderful brochure and promises made on the tour. My mother's overall care was very poor.

After a month plus with Community Rehab, being home I needed help. Comm Rehab staff raved about R@H. Best decision I could have made! The aides are very kind and willing to try anything to help! Several have taken me to Dr.'s appts, picked up prescriptions and even groceries! They also clean my room, even changing my bed sheets, wash my floor. Bathing me is a Ghodsend, and helping me dress (still not fully able). They also take me shopping in their cars and push me in my wheelchair! I had never heard of home nursing providing any of these! All are non-judgemental, and open to anything new! Having someone with me during recent eye surgery was such comfort. One dear lady nagged me out of bed and move! The negative comments here make me think there was more to the story. They also help my daughter, who is very disabled mentally with CP, now stuck at home since day programs are cancelled. Her caregiver is exhausted, and always they offer her help and needed break. I would recommend Right at Home with enthusiasm! Try them!

The first person…read morethey sent to care for my mother just wanted to sit on her cell phone for 4.5 hours out of 6 hours at $36 per hour. The second person they sent was very soft spoken and had a strong accent. My mother who is 92 couldn't hear her most of the time and, when she could, she couldn't understand her. The third person that was scheduled was a no show. I didn't receive any notice, a phone call, anything. So I was left with no assistance and had to cancel an appointment for myself. Regarding the fourth person they said was coming on a Tuesday after a three day holiday weekend; they call me at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday to tell me that the lady that was scheduled to come was not getting back in town until today so I was on my own once again for the day. Again I had to cancel my commitments for the day and my mother, as well as my 94 year old father, woke up from the phone call. Also, sometimes multiple people will call you regarding the same subject and other times no one will call you. They dial your number and have you hold while they try to figure out what they were calling you for. They are extremely disorganized, unreliable, and couldn't care less how they impact your day due to their incompetency. This agency is useless! I strongly recommend that you spare yourself the headaches they cause and find an agency that can provide your love ones with the care and compassion they deserve.

But we made 80+ phone…read morecalls and visited every facility that would take a Medicaid-pending resident and this was the best of the few available options. Let's face it: someone without money isn't going to waltz into a 5-star facility, and just has to hope for something adequate. At Northampton, care plan meetings happen every quarter and are informative, requests are followed up on, the Medicaid liaison is an absolute star, and we get a phone call if a fall, illness, or change in medication occurs. The front desk staff is friendly and excellent at screening visitors to keep them from spreading illnesses to residents (I can't believe someone complained about that!). When there was a covid outbreak, the facility moved ill patients to a covid wing to minimize spread and kept us informed very well. As for the resident experience: Overall the facility appears clean -- sometimes when we visit there is an odor if someone has had an accident, but that is the exception. The building is old and in need of some repairs, but the 2-people-per-room setup is better than another place I looked at that had 4-per-room. The dining/activity room is very nice and bright, and the staff decorates it for holidays. Meals are served on real plates in warmer containers and they are fine. There are activities offered, but of course not comparable to a more expensive facility; I wish there were more music and performances and pet therapy to engage the more passive residents. A lot of the hands-on care staff are terrific and very kind, and some could be friendlier and more responsive, but they all do a very difficult job and we are grateful. They know the residents and in my relative's case are understanding of their individual habits. Unless you can buy your way into somewhere great, living in a care facility in the U.S. is not going to be a picnic. If you are looking to place a loved one, you have to just do the best you can and choose from the available options (and hope Medicare/Medicaid don't get axed!).
