I had a spark of feeling to go…read morefind a record from a local store in PA so I quickly had him pull up on Apple Maps a record store that was close by while we were on a highway three places came up the first two seemed like they would've been extremely disappointing based on reviews and how they appear to be from photos, however, my nephew quickly found this place, which was #3. The second he read off to me about the photos and the reviews. I said OK let's switch the GPS to go to this location. To say "I'm glad I went" would be an understatement. When we first arrived, I quickly realize it's a small town that it's located in but a warming aesthetic, standing from the outside looking in you can just tell it's nothing but treasures awaiting to be found. From the warm greeting from Tom himself, down to him taking notice to the people that walk in and placing a track on the player they may like or even if they ask for certain artists record, he will go and run and put that on for them which I thought was extremely caring, but it also let me know how much he cares about the people who come in, what he do, and how his store is ran. He was kind enough to recommend places for my husband and I to visit in London for our honeymoon. I really enjoyed mingling with other people who share alike interests in this shop. Tom has created a great community place to meet new people and perhaps make new friendships. I adore all he has in his shop its the black hole of records or doom scroll of records lol. I drive 1hr and 7 mins from Maryland just to come to this store; Rock and Roll Graveyard is a great 36min spot from me but this one I fell in love with. Thank you Tom!

Before anyone brushes this off as "just another bad review," take a look through my review history…read more I overwhelmingly leave positive reviews and genuinely enjoy supporting local businesses. For me to write something like this--and even follow up with a formal email afterward--should tell you how unacceptable this experience was. My girlfriend and I were in the store while another couple was discussing selling a large reggae record collection. The owner himself was talking about other stores and possible avenues that might be interested in a collection of that size. Because the conversation was already centered around potential buyers, my girlfriend casually mentioned another local shop that may also have interest. The response was immediate and hostile. Rather than simply saying he preferred competitors not be discussed in the store, he repeatedly raised his voice and screamed that it was "unethical," and "how dare you. come into my store and attempt to steal people".. becoming louder each time he said it. The reaction was so uncomfortable that another customer followed us outside afterward to make sure we were okay. What makes this especially strange is that the conversation was already about alternative stores and options. We're customers, not business owners. Most reasonable people would not assume that mentioning another local shop in that context would trigger a confrontation. This wasn't professionalism, customer service, or simply someone having a bad day. It was an unnecessarily hostile interaction that left multiple people uncomfortable, including those directly involved in the discussion and the other couple as well as she had mentioned to us outside how off and weird that was of Max to go ballistic. Needless to say, I won't be returning, and I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending a business that treats customers this way. If you plan to take this for a grain of salt.. which is totally fine. Just be aware that, under Max's roof, the customer apparently isn't always right. If a conversation is already revolving around outside shops and potential buyers, think twice before mentioning another local business. Based on our experience, doing so may earn you a public scolding, ridicule, and embarrassment. It's a bit counterintuitive considering the conversation was already centered around other shops, but those appear to be the rules of this little shop of horrors. Photo below: The owner's response conveniently leaves out some important context. We had already been talking with the couple, and multiple outside options were being discussed before Carly made a suggestion. If this version of events makes the owner feel better, that's his prerogative, but it doesn't reflect what happened that day. It also certainly isn't appropriate for a grown man to treat a young lady this way either! Pathetic. As it's stated he's been in biz for 10yrs.. how comes only an average rating of 3.2 in over 10yrs!? 0/10 stars !
