Lady Matilda and I come to the market for our meats and spices, grab a soft pretzel or three from the Amish kiosk, and see what the Bookworm has to surprise us. It's a friendly shop where they remember you and your tastes. I've converted a lot of clients and friends in the area who were quick to dismiss it as just another dirt-mall book dump. Absolutely not. The store carries the professionalism of classic independent booksellers with the fun of a friendly mom-and-pop store. Take a break from the busy market on your next visit.

There's so much to see inside, with all kinds of book genres all well-organized and easy to search. The staff was incredibly friendly and approached me twice to ask if there was something they could help me find. They knew where everything was and knew sometimes even before they'd look what was on the shelves and what wasn't (or what just sold a couple of days/weeks ago). Very insightful and their kindness made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for the used book lover!

Street parking is available, and it is an easy walk even from around the corner. One of the noticeable things is the new location's building is in much better condition. There are almost certainly less books for sale now, but it's also less crowded, and everything is much more organized. Books are located on both levels of the shop, and they have one of the larger used selections you'll find at an independent shop. Other media for sale also include various movies and comic books. If you like independent used bookshops, this is worth a stop.

Despite being a larger bookstore, I wouldn't say it's the best stocked. There is definitely room for more shelves and more books, but as they have laid it out, it's a very spacious shop with plenty of seating. You can sit at a table and chairs or an armchair in the back room upstairs, and there's cute seating for kids or families in the children's book rooms. But not having as much shelving does mean that they didn't have several books and authors I was looking for. If I lived locally, I'm sure they order books that they don't have in stock! Overall, a cute if not very well-stocked independent bookstore with friendly customer service.

I had to stop in as I love a local bookstore and was blown away. It's a cafe and plant store with the best curated book selection I've seen. It's a tight collection of books and the owners were celebrating their one year opening and were giving out cookies! I would make the hour drive just to spend time in this bookstore! The staff made my friend really good about her book purchase. There's a dedicated children's section that's so cozy and instagrammable. There was also a sale cart which you don't often see in bookstores, if you're looking for a bargain might be a good stop for you. I'm still thinking about this bookstore as I write the review. They take care to stock books across a wide range of genres for all types of readers and interests. The store promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, and the employees are always friendly and helpful. On my most recent visit I scored a bargain from the sale cart and got a hardcover on my TBR list for 20% off. They also have a nice selection of gift items and stationary. A great place to spend an afternoon browsing through all the rooms.

This is one of the nicest comic/action figure/misc stores I have ever seen. Layouts were clear and grouped by interest. Displays were carefully designed with the collector in mind. The amount of stock is great, especially back issues. I saw something I've never seen before - ECs from the 50s!! One area that I am still collecting. Most stores only carry the later reprints. Nice, but none that I need at the time. There are separate displays for comics, magazines, action figures, sals items, suggested reading, and a nice area just for kids with a great selection. The manager was helpful,and very knowledgeable, and we had great conversations. There are multiple areas marked for sales prices, including several boxes of low priced comics and magazines. And especially of note: I read recently of the difficulty of finding new packs of Pokemon cards. Some dealers were charging $9 to $13 for the new packs, due to shortages. Comic Store West has them for $6, with a limited amount you can buy. That alone tells me a lot about caring and watching out for the consumer. If you are in the York area looking for comics, this should definitely be your first stop! Highly recommended.

What an absolute gem of a bookshop The Book House is in Dillsburg! I cannot convey in words just…read morehow delightful this place is - it's everything you'd hope for in a small, hole in the wall, everything's cramped but also clearly well maintained "there's hidden treasure everywhere" kind of place. The selection of used books is astounding, and the varying levels of quality was unexpected too - nothing was garbage, and while there are clearly used books here, there are also really nice, mint level books too. To give you an idea of the scope of books I'm talking about here, I left with a mint paperback of Starship Troopers from 1997, and a high quality copy of the published 1896 Pennsylvania School Laws (yes, that's a very old book). The staff are incredibly helpful and know their inventory well - don't be afraid to ask for help finding something if you've spent 20 minutes lost in treasure hunting mode. I cannot stress enough how great The Book House is - it is the quintessential used bookshop where you'll find yourself fully immersed in the browsing experience. Check it out whenever you get a chance!
