Owners Evita and Solise have created a space that shows appreciation to the culture, while celebrating the stories of people of African diaspora through literature and art. For those who are reading this and are from the DMV area think of Busboy & Poets but with a little twist. So what's the twist you ask? They offer beer and wine through a self-serve tap system. Meaning you receive a wristband that allows you to help yourself to a variety of local beers and wine. Each is charged by the ounce and is charged to your tab at the end of your visit. An added bonus is two of the wines that were available were made in-house; the Concord Jungle and Mizz Education. We enjoyed the Mizz Education which is a sweet and refreshing Moscato so much we ended up taking two bottles home with us. Let me just say this, I've been to my fair share of restaurants for brunch and the food at Concrete Rose hands down is the top 5 best food I've ever had. We tried a variety of options which include the Salmon Avocado Toast, Soul of the Sea and Chicken wings with concord bbq sauce. All were seasoned, cooked and plated to perfection. Whew Lord just thinking about those crab cakes with herbed garlic butter and remoulade sauce has me thinking about taking a road trip to get some more. Ambiance, food and service are all top tier at A Concrete Rose. Do yourself a favor and check them out. There's so much there for you to see and try! I can promise you one thing, you won't be disappointed. Evita and Solise you've outdone yourselves on this one! So proud of what you both have accomplished. Keep shining ladies, the world needs your light!

This is a true gem and it should be celebrated and frequented more often. I grew up in Southeast Lancaster and was raised on Pershing Ave! The drinks are your typical cafe drinks, and occasionally they'll have fun flavored pastries. Outside of a handful of pre-made sandwiches, this is more for snacking versus if you're looking for a full proper meal. Inside there is ample seating of different sizes, depending on the size of your party. You can either rent games from them or bring your own. We tend to bring our own. The people working there are up to date on their games familiarity, as I've had employees comment on the games we'll bring in and start playing. There is also manga and trinkets for sale if that's your thing.

Opened in 2024 it's the culmination of four family member's dream to bring their joys of food, gaming, and books to their little corner of the world. The Good: *Kid-friendly in that they even have little kid toilet seats installed *Full-service café with all manners of drinks; I had a matcha latte and it was very good. *Over 300 board games to play (w/ purchase of $5/2hr or $10 all-day pass) *Monthly subscriptions for unlimited play for $20/month *1,500+ books for sale (free day pass to pay with purchase of a book) *Baked goods, as well as sandwiches and burritos *Clean, huge space *Drinks are reasonably priced at ±$5/16oz The Meh: *Sandwich/burrito prices are a bit steep but it is what they are. The Ugly: *As with all Downtown Lancaster spots, parking is always an issue. You'll either need to do street parking or a parking garage, neither of which is free. Conclusion: Nice, clean spot to get your reading or gaming on while enjoying a cuppa.
