If I could leave zero stars, I would. I've lived in many different cities and states, and this is by far the worst recycling company I've ever dealt with. The drivers are incredibly lazy and constantly leave trash on the ground. They come every Thursday and always seem to look for any excuse not to pick up your garbage. It has honestly gotten so frustrating that I've even considered moving just so I don't have to deal with this service anymore. The customer service representatives are polite, but unfortunately nothing ever gets resolved. Anytime they ask a manager for help, the manager almost always sides with the driver instead of helping the customer. They make you pay for an extra pickup. It feels like there is zero accountability. What makes it worse is the complete lack of communication within the company. Representatives will tell you one thing, supervisors say something different, and the drivers do whatever they want. No one seems to be on the same page. I wish there were another recycling company available in this area because I would switch immediately. If you're considering moving here, this might seem like a small issue, but dealing with this company week after week becomes a real nightmare. The problem really comes down to the drivers. Until that changes, the service will continue to be terrible I mean look at their rating on yelp and still no one does anything about it. They just continue to let these drivers get away with anything. read more

Definitely need to petition for a new trash company to begin picking up trash in the area. Recology is not only unreliable the workers are incapable of doing their job that we actually pay them monthly for. Anyone else consistently have issues with your cans NOT being picked up and every time you call, they claim they weren't put down? And then when that response doesn't work, they say something like your cans must be six feet apart, lid completely closed etc? This is getting so old. This time when we called to say their driver didn't pick up the can, we were told they were picking it up tomorrow as a "one time curtesy". What? Your driver didn't pick up our can when it was out on trash day. We shouldn't be penalized for that. Definitely making sure to keep ring cam videos moving forward as proof. Ridiculous. read more

Terrible service!! Unfortunately they are the only option so they get away with horrible service. For the second time this month our recycling bin was not emptied!! Today some of our regular garbage wasn't picked up either. These people are paid well with excellent benefits, so they really should be doing their jobs. Sometimes they have a "supervisor" with them who has the time to get out of the truck, open our garbage bins and leave us some kind of nasty note. If you have time to write notes like some kind of grade school hall monitor, you should have time to empty the bins. I pay my bill on time for a service I expect to be performed. When you call them, they don't return calls. We certainly wouldn't use this company if there was another option. This company is a good example of why so many people are leaving California and going to places where people actually do their jobs, people are nice and people return phone calls. read more

I'm tired of explaining to Yuba Sutter Recology that we are a business that operates from 9-5pm. No one is present to unlock the trash dumpster at 7am. If we leave the dumpster unlocked over night, the homeless will make a mess. If we unlock the dumpster at 9am, we've already missed the driver - who refuses to come at a later time. It's a shame that there isn't a second, more professional organization to deal with. Yuba Sutter does not care about their customers because they know the customers do not have another choice. If I could give Recology a negative star, I would. They constantly pass by my garbage container. I'm constantly making phone calls to Recology to have them circle back around and pick up my garbage can. Two weeks ago my recycle bin was dropped inside the garbage truck. I called up to ask for a new one. Two weeks later I still don't have one. I sure hope another garbage company in the area pops up because I will get rid of Recology in a heartbeat! The drivers are horrible. They have pass by my trashcans many times and left all garbage and recycle full good luck trying to get a hold of someone to complain. People at the desk. Also not helpful there so lazy if your trashcan is not 3 feet apart like you have to grab a damn tape measure they won't take your garbage keep in mind the old-school way was they get off the truck and put it on the mechanism claw now the claw does everything for them and they still are ridiculously lazy I will definitely try to reach out to someone because I'm tired of this. I barely made it to Recology yesterday. I spent all day clearing out a house and arrived with 2 minutes to spare. The gate was already closed. I double checked the time on my phone. It was now 4:29. There was a tow truck in front of me and the security guard waved him in. I followed so I could speak to the security guard and he started telling me immediately to turn around. I explained that I was here before closing and I had a 2 hour drive home to make. I needed to empty my truck. The guy was a total jerk and just turned around and started walking away without any explanation. I kept calling him to come back and eventually he did, but he still refused to acknowledge that he closed early nor would he honor the closing time and let me in. I asked him his name and his company's phone number so I could complain. He REFUSED to give me either. Not his name, not a contact number. Probably because he knew he closed early and didn't want to have that complaint. I was livid and eventually he just told me I needed to leave and he took my license plate number??? I called Recology and have not had my phone call returned. Would never recommend this place. read more

We moved to this town a year ago to escape city life and it's always something they do not answer the phone, damage bins and some weeks the drivers just decide to not come at all. On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, I was sitting in a gutter where there were absolutely no cars on that side of the street. I was completely visible. My water bottle was lying in the gutter. There was water in the gutter. The bottle wasn't taking a bath. The driver of the truck didn't even tap the brakes. He didn't ask to see if I was okay (I wasn't). Would it have killed your driver to take a moment to check? He saw me. He did. This happened on Northfield Drive (the part that runs north/south) in Yuba City. My garbage pickup is on Friday's. Well, on this last Friday. They left half of my garbage and half of my recycling cans still half full. I know it happens when people are trying to get home for the weekend. So, I left an email. I got a call back from a lady (who was actually very nice) and she said to call them back. So around 4:15 PM on the following Monday I call back (they close at 4:30). A lady picks up she doesn't give her name, and I give her my address and the issue. She asks me politely if I can hold. I said no problem. I stay on hold for about 3 minutes and then I get transferred to the after hours voicemail. Terrible business practice. I hope management can fix this issue. read more

I have not received a dump pass since they started mailing them out rather than putting them on our bill. This has resulted in me having to pay out of pocket several times. I registered a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Recology failed to respond. My next step is to write to my local representatives and request they find another utility to take over operations at the dump when Recology's contract is up. I have several neighbors who have experienced the same issue, so I plan to have multiple signers on my letter. We are entitled to dump passes that we simply do not receive. It's absurd. read more

I'm all for proper waste disposal and recycling but Recology has a choke hold on everyone in this area. A home owner within city limits HAS to have garbage service and Recology is the only game in town. Next, they charge more for larger containers and lets face it- the little ones are ridiculously small. Recology's current radio commercials remind everyone of proper load covering when hauling garbage to their center in Marysville. Great, but what about all the trash flying out of their trucks on the way to the dump? From what I've witnessed, the majority of trash along that road comes from them and they do NOTHING to clean it up or prevent it. It's time for Recology to get off their high horse and take responsibility for their actions instead of placing blame on their customers. read more

I have never had a major problem with these guys. I was able to physically move my trash cans from my old house to my new one, even though it wasn't protocol. I have had two broken lids and they have come out, not immediately but I get placed on the list and they come out in a week or so. Also unbeknownst to me, my husband shoved old clothes & old door mats in the blue bin and they could have driven by and left the whole can...the worker got out of his truck and removed all the items that did not belong, put then on the ground and emptied the bin. Once they took half the can and I stopped the guy on the next street, he said he'd come back. Then my husband did the same not knowing I had talked to him already and they ended up cursing each other out. The worker still came back and ultimately it was our wrong because we had wedged the cardboard in a way that prevented the rest of the trash from falling out. We went to the landfill to dump once with a coupon from the year before, no expiration date and they wouldn't take it. Employee said PAY OR GET OUTTA LINE". I have called and requested coupons and gotten them a few weeks later. My elderly parents couldn't dump a couch, they called and they substituted a few of the yearly free dump coupons to come pick up the couch. They aren't perfect but neither are we...I don't make their jobs easier and when I do it's mostly on accident. Communication, patience and tolerance, that is how I try to approach everything. Trash pickup shouldn't be difficult, the streets don't move! I understand people forget, or a substitute driver may miss a street every now and then, it happens. However, you can't call them on a weekend, and when you can call, it takes between 10 and 20 minutes to have anyone answer the phones. Called them to replace my broken garbage can, they said leave it out on my garbage pick up day (Monday). They came and picked it up, but didn't leave one. So I called them on Monday, and they said they can't get a hold of a driver, so they'll send one first thing in the morning. I never received it in the morning, called them again, and after waiting for someone to answer for 30 minutes, I finally got a hold of someone. Now they're saying again I have to wait another day.
