Total scam. I called when they sent me a letter offering a settlement. I know how to properly settle a debt involving my credit... I asked them if they would remove negative marks from my credit score upon payment, and they told me some gibberish about not being able to make changes to my credit. That's fine, and a bit expected. So I asked them for the contact info of the original creditor, so that I could receive an agreement in writing that all negative info would be removed upon payment of the settlement. THEY REFUSED AND HUNG UP ON ME. If that doesn't give away that this company is a complete scam, I don't know what would. To anyone reading this who is trying to fix their credit, make sure that before you pay ANY debt, to ask for and receive an agreement IN WRITING (email, etc.) that all negative marks will be removed from your credit score upon payment. Only once the agreement is signed by both parties should you pay ANYTHING. If you pay up BEFORE getting this agreement, even if they VERBALLY tell you that they will remove it, they have no obligation to do so, and you better believe that corporations like this won't waste their time doing anything that doesn't affect their bottom line, and will conveniently forget to pay you and push you off indefinitely, leaving you with a cursed credit report and no leverage to fix it. IT'S THE DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY FROM HELL!!! First let me say, I have no delinquent debts, judgments or liens of any kind. I stay up late to trade FOREX, watch the John Stewart Show and pluck upon my vast collection of guitars. I DON'T LIKE GETTING UP BEFORE 10PM. IT MAKES ME CRANKY!!!!!!!!!!! RPM is a lower tier debt collection agency which is constantly at war in the courts over their abuses of the Federal 'Fair Debt Collection Act'. This agency is so arrogant in their business perspective that they take on 5 year old uncollected debts that have been worked over three times by other agencies. They use the electronic bludgeon technique; 1) Call 2) Hang-up 3) Repeat twice daily into perpetuity. Of course on these old debts, most of the phone numbers in the file have been re-assigned to other people. That happens with dead-beats (duh!). My complaint is that RPM's techniques promote sleep deprivation. People receiving calls from them post messages on the web asking "Why do they call and hang up? OVER AND OVER again! What is the purpose of this?" Are they trying to soften up my mental condition by making me sleep deprived and paranoid? Yes, it's an intimidation technique. If you are not institutionalized after the first 20 hang-up calls, eventually, there is a second auto-dialer that calls and states that it is calling only for 'unintelligible name". If you push the button to indicate that you are not that person, it hangs up and tries again, and again. I tried to understand what name they are asking for. Is it Franz Kafka? Does he still own money to the Worker's Accident Insurance Institute of the Kingdom of Bohemia for pencils that he took in 1916? At this point, you are getting hit by the two auto-dialers. Will it eventually become four or eight auto-dialers???? Deprived of sleep, you begin to believe that you are indeed Franz Kafka! So I advise you stay calm and wait for this second auto-dialer. PRESS 1 to indicate that, YES, you ARE Franz Kafka (it is counter-logical, but you are almost insane at this point anyway). When the collector answers, be reasonable with them. Explain the situation; "Yes, I am Franz Kafka, and I am awaiting payment for the publication of my works that has occurred after my demise. When I receive payment, and come back to life, I will call you, but not before." They were very nice about it and the calls have stopped. read more

Horrible company. I was getting 2 or 4 calls per day, half automated, half by "people." They left messages stating that they were debt collectors. The automated calls had a prerecorded message stating they were debt collectors. I called to complain about this, and the moron I talked to stated that they legally had to leave that information, and that I could check with the FTC. I explained that the FTC actually says that they can't leave messages stating that a debt is owed, but arguing with a moron is often pointless. I've requested a supervisor multiple times, about half of which I was disconnected, and the other half I was told that there weren't any available. I had to call 3 times just to get their address. The first two people hung up on me after I wouldn't give them my personal information. The third guy, while still a jerk, finally gave in after a 10 minute back-and-forth, which pretty much consisted of: "I need your address." "Who are you, and why do you need it?" "You're a business. I'm a guy that wants your address. What is it?" Rinse and repeat about a dozen times. I encourage anyone that speaks with this company to file a complaint with the BBB, but more importantly, with the FTC. Turns out I owed $25 to my former Cable Company. I didnt know, wish Time Warner would have called me. The amount was so low that I agreed to pay by phone. The new young guy that called was perfectly polite, but a little clueless. My issue is not with him but the Company. They attempted to charge me a $15 "transaction fee" for making a payment via phone. Didn't matter if it was check, credit or debit. When I told him that I would just mail in a check in stead of paying the fee, he "checked with his manager" and "discovered" that in my state there is no transaction fee. This is BS. Other than penalties and interest- you cant be forced to pay additional fees (unless your agreement with Time Warner says you are responsible for attorneys' fees- but these guys ARENT lawyers). This company is a scam. They called me claiming to represent Sprint for an ungodly sum of money. I do not, and have never had an account with Sprint. I reported them to the FTC and to the BBB. I would highly recommend that you do the same should you receive a call from them. The BBB shows that they have a "high" rating, but also acknowledges some rather problematic practices, including: "Consumers further allege company representatives exhibit inappropriate behavior, use scare tactics, call multiple times throughout the day or disconnect the call when the consumer answers the phone." Complete lies and scam. This company says we owe to Verizon Wireless, but they will take 40%. LOL With no bill or reference to when and where this debt came from? We could not have moved to another cell phone company without having our bill with Verizon paid in full first, and never had any charges in that amount, even our last billing, as well as always paid our bills on time. This is just a sloppy way to get money from those who don't understand how the billing with their original creditor works. "A fool and his money are easily parted". I used to be in collections, bookkeeping and accounting, so I'm quite familiar with all of this. FURTHER NOTES: I later found this charge on the credit report. I called Verizon, this company and the company that collects directly for Verizon that doled the collections out to these people (that's 3 companies to deal with this debt). No one has the billing paperwork to back these charges when I politely asked them: please provide the billing so I can see where these charges come from before I pay it. 3 days later, the two collection agencies sent me a letter stating they are dropping the charges (meaning they had no records of the debt). Resolved. Easy enough to work with, with the right questions and knowledge. Special instructions about your credit: First, if you owe money to your original creditor, you will get notifications from them at the time of debt. If you are unsure, call them directly. Do not deal with 3rd party collections, unless the bill is old and the original creditor tells you this. The original creditor will verify the debt and direct you to their payment center or the name of the 3rd party collections. If they cannot provide justification of these charges with a billing, then that's on them. Also check your credit report to see if there is anything on there from either the collection agency referencing your original creditor and debt amount. If you do not want to deal with false debt collections that are not on your credit report, tell them to stop calling you. By law they have to stop. Follow up with a letter, CRRR. Or skip the call and just write them a simple letter telling them to stop calling you - one sentence. (again, CRRR - certified return receipt requested). You can put a dispute on your credit report if this is unjustly put on your credit. If your original creditor put it on, that may be different, but from a 3rd party without reference to the original debt, that's a scam or mistake. Don't get caught up in wasting your time and emotions with any company using deceptive practices for collections. Remember, they are COLLECTORS, who are trained to use any and all sorts of intimidation techniques on the phone - it's just a game to them, and people fall for it. Most agencies won't go that far, but many still do. If they don't have the decency to answer or call from their phones with a real person, block their number. They are not serious, obviously. A serious collector will send a letter and then follow up with a real person call, and you will be able to verify the debt, as well as request from them to send you the original debt information in full before you pay it. read more

Started receiving RPM phone calls about some unknown debt. Sounded fishy as we received no written correspondence for anything in which we were in arrears. In a panic, went on line to check my credit history and sure enough, some bill for $53.00 was red flagged. Of course, it does not say for what. Thus, I had the "pleasure" of talking to "Tuesday" from RPM. She immediately went into her spiel about how she is here to collect the debt (and oh, yes, she repeated it so often, I lost count of how many times she reminded me our phone call was being monitored) and it was best if I gave her my debit info or sent her money. Everytime i tried to interrupt to ask questions or clarify something (Hey "Tuesday"-- hmmm today is Tuesday-- check the recording), she would increase her loudness and speed of telling me that I should pay up. When I mentioned that I needed to verify with Tmobile--still a customer--and have never received a text, e-mail, or written request for $53.00-- that in fact, we owed the money. Her quote: 'You can tell me from dusk till dawn that you are going to take care of this, but we are going to keep contacting you until you provide the money." She refused to answer my query about if I contacted Tmobile and if we did owe money and paid in a Tmobile store, how should RPM be notified. In fact, she overstepped my questions several times so that I had to repeat again and again and again. Finally, she said I cannot tell you that. So to clarify: If you do owe someone money and you do pay it to that party, RPM is unable or unwilling to tell you how to notify RPM. As it is obvious from her actions and words, she and RPM will only get money if they get it from me and NOT if I dealt directly with Tmobile. This company is low brow. Just know they are there and will do anything possible to get you to give them money regardless as to whether you owe it or not. I am heading down to Tmobile soon and hopefully I will never have to deal with RPM again. I feel the need now to wash my hands. read more

Total scam. They've been calling my private cell phone 1-2 times a day for the past 2 weeks. I work nights, so they wake me up too. They say I owe T-mobile $49 from THREE years ago. I've been using T-mobile for over 10 years & still do, but I don't owe them any money. I checked my account online, & even managed to contact T-mobile. They say I don't own them any money... my account is paid in full. These scammers are calling my T-mobile phone that I've had for 7 years, that is on the T-mobile account/phone number. Wouldn't T-mobile have shut down my phone service by now if I've owed them $49 for 3 years? My cell phone service has been working fine all this time. I don't have & never had another T-mobile account. This is my only account I ever had with them. I suspect these scammers got a hold of a list of some of a company's customers, & are just calling them in an attempt to fool them into thinking you owe them money. Even if you do owe somebody money, pay the company directly you owe. If you pay scammers like this, it's highly likely it won't get sent to the people you owe it to, & probably won't improve your credit rating anyway. I've read about a lot of successful lawsuits against these scammers. Stay away, & do not cooperate with them. They are evil thieves. read more

I called and spoke w/Tyese just now on 2/21/2020 at 866-367-1870 to pay $114.50 on 2/28/2020. The bill I received indicated payment was due on 2/25; however; when I advised Tyese that I could pay on the 28th, he said that would be fine. I mentioned the 28th at least 3 times during our recorded conversation. As soon as I hung up with Tyese, I was notified by my bank, via text, that the payment had posted immediately. I called back to escalate and spoke with Eric who said he would have to review the recording and this would take 24 hours and return of funds would take 4-5 days. I asked him to get Tyese on the phone since I had just hung up with him and he said he could not. I asked to speak to a manager and Eric said he was the manager and would not allow me to speak to anyone else. If this call was truly on a recorded line, you will hear me say the 28th at least three times during the conversation with Tyese. THEY DON'T ANSWER WHEN IT IS A HEAT CUSTOMER! THEY HAVE CALLER ID AND JUST LET IT RING. I switched to ATT and the rep I spoke with at sprint said I didn't owe anything. I started getting multiple calls a day a month or so later and just paid in full the 162 because I was told it would appear on my credit. The next day I received a call and they said I didn't pay after a few frustrated words came out we learned the girl didn't notate it and asked for my card number again. I told them to EAD and it was their fault and hung up. The 4th day they called I offered a 100 so it would be settled and they accepted. No more calls. August 1 comes around and it hit my credit for a 62 dollar debt. I called them multiple times a day and no one answered, or they would put me on hold and transfer me and then hang up. I left messages and no one got back to me. (I guess they don't like to be called multiple times a day either) I was hot pissed at this point! Finally, on the 12th I got in contact with someone (after 8 calls and being put on hold for 30 minutes) he said they would pull the recording about us agreeing that it was settled and was incredibly rude about it. I asked to speak with a manager and he said 'you'll be waiting a while' I said it was fine I have been waiting all day anyways! he said no manageres are available until tomorrow and refused to let me speak to a manager. Are you kidding me?! He learned it was a mistake and said it shouldn't of been on your credit in the first place and that no one updated my account that I paid and it will be removed from all bureaus in 30 days. I started receiving calls on my personal cell phone from RPM asking for an individual's first name on July 9th 2011 (no such person at this number). The calls were at least once a day from July 9th through August 4th. Of those calls that I actually answered, which were few once I identified all their numbers, no caller identified themselves before asking for the person they wished to speak to, and only one identified themself when asked. I informed them on the first few calls that the number they had called was a wrong number and a cell phone as well. The numbers I received calls from were the following: - 314-627-5652 - 757-990-8973 - 301-882-9950 - 571-261-0047 - 703-291-9039 While the majority of these calls were either missed by me or were hang-ups as soon as I answered, I don't have specific knowledge that all of these numbers are RPM. However, a minimum of time spent doing reverse number lookups and reading comments posted by people called by these numbers indicated that all of these numbers had been used by RPM. A week ago, I finally got someone on the line calling back the last number that had called me after nearly a month of trying and getting no answer or busy signals. The person identified themselves as "RPM". When I gave them my name and number and inquired why I was being called, they hung up. When I immediately called back, a different individual answered, took my name and number, said it "was a mistake, please disregard the calls" (!). I received another call from them less than two hours later, from the same number. When I first noticed RPM on my credit report, I simply called to find out who they were and why they were on my credit report, that's when I found out they had a collection from T-mobile for $150 from a cell phone bill I never knew I had considering it was accrued AFTER my contract had ended. I informed the lady that I didn't have the money at the time and that I would call back as soon as I had the funds. I also informed them that I no longer lived in Texas and was now living in Hawaii, therefore, the time difference should've been taken into consideration. Every since I called them they have been blowing up my phone all times of the day and night. One lady called me at 2am my time, waking up me and my husband who has to be at work at 6am, and even after I informed her of what time it was for me, she proceeded to ask me about payment for the collection. Of course I hung up in her face because I felt she was being inconsiderate. They called me again from the same number at the same time the very next night so I blocked the number. I received another call from them from a different number while I was in class taking notes for an important exam, I answered the phone thinking it was someone important and it was the same lady, I informed her that I was in class and that I would contact them as soon as I had the money for the collection, she again proceeded to question me about if I was even going to make a payment and when I was going to be able to make it, again, I hung up in her face. If I tell you I will make the payment when I have the money then that's what it is. Don't keep calling my phone thinking you're going to get the money any sooner than that. These people are rude and very unprofessional, I understand your job is to collect debts but that doesn't give you the right to call people all times of the night whenever you feel like it. I will be paying this debt off tomorrow as soon as they open. Word of advice: learn some common courtesy, you'll get a lot further with your customers. read more

This company is a total scam. I got a call 2 days after I changed my Tmobile account from the Simple Choice no Credit account to a Credit Checked account saying I owed money. I had paid my bill a few days prior which is a prepaid account, in full, I then paid for all activation and new charges for the new account and the old account was shut off mid month, Tmobile owed me money back on the account for unused time. I called Tmobile to ask why I was getting a call from a collection company and asked if I owed them any money, they confirmed I did not and that a refund would be credited to my account for unused air time from the old account, which it was. Fast forward 3 years and I received a letter in the mail from a collection company saying I owe $40.90 for an old Tmobile account. I called them and they said they saw I had paid in full then cancelled the plan 7 days after so they would settle my debt for $30 on the spot one time offer for that day only. When I told her no, I don't owe the money and I'm not paying anything she proceeded to drop the price in $5 increments. This seems like a scam where they are trying to extort small amounts of money or possibly even get your bank account information for a larger payoff later. I told her I wasn't paying a dime because I don't owe it and I would cal Tmobile to get it cleared up at which she responded they will just refer you back here so you should just take the deal and pay. When I discovered that T-Mobile had closed the account for cell service due to mix up in contact information and the change in auto-pay arrangement, T-Mobile closed the account within 30 days and sold the account to RPM. I contacted T-Mobile after my wife noticed there was no cell service when she started going out more often away from Wi-Fi hot spots and discovered what T-Mobile did. They referred me to RPM and the representative was rather rude and hung up on me as soon as the balance was taken care of and gave me the confirmation number which is not a proper customer service. SCAM!! I have suddenly been called and called every day for the last week by this random Washington number. I didn't recognize it so I did not answer. They never left a message. Finally I answered and they are claiming I owe Verizon money. I haven't had Verizon for years and I don't owe them a dime. I'm really concerned about how this company got my information and why they're trying to get me to pay something without showing any proof there is money owed. I haven't ever received anything in the mail..no bill..no claim from a collection agency..nothing. But suddenly my phone is blowin up with calls from this company!! It has to be a SCAM. Another Terrible Experience with Receivables Performance Management (RPM)- calling me for months and trying to say I owe money before realizing they have the wrong person! Who are these people and how can they get away with their terrible, unethical business practices???? You'll probably have to call them in order to stop being harassed, but DO NOT give them any information and be sure to check your credit report, in addition to reporting them to your state agencies. They are messing up people's credit reports even though they admit they have the WRONG person who supposedly owes money!!!!!!! read more

After MONTHS and MONTHS doing everything in my power to resolve this issue with no resolve I was instructed today to send RPM the reference information I have in regards to T-mobile submitting this account to collections by error on there side. Please understand urgency is of the utmost importance as I am due to close on my new home on Feb, 2nd. I have been diligent in handling this matter since the first week in November and have been told by your agents on multiple occasions that we were only waiting for T-mobile to send the request to delete from credit to your office. As of 01/12/21 I was told that correspondence was received and sent to the bureaus on 12/31/20 and that the agent was going to email me the "deletion letter" by EOD. Today being the the next business day I called back and was told that there will be no letter and that your company is still waiting for that information from T-mobile. I need this matter resolved as soon as possible. I have been in contact with the creditor on multiple occasions and they have sent all the information they can to your agency. Tmobile has stated they have sent and resent the request to delete from credit it's now up to you to get this removed. There are 20 days until i'm due to close on my home and I expect this to be handled much before that day. I have never been treated like this is my entire life. I have been all but spit on and ran over by this company and after 3 months of trying to deal with this im at my wits end... If you ever happen to have an account go to this company please learn your legal rights and contact a professional before attempting 1 call to this fraudulent, demining, disgusting company. read more
