He is also oddly flirty for a married man and claims artists who have left are out of state when I've seen them at other shops around town. I decided to get my first tattoo here last summer after reading positive reviews and looking at photos of the artists' work. I wasn't entirely satisfied with my experiences here, but it could have been worse. I scheduled my appointment with Vinnie, who is only at the studio for about a week per month. I wanted to get something simple since I wasn't sure how I would respond to the tattooing process (didn't hurt at all since it was on my upper arm). I decided on a simple origami crane design with watercolor. I paid the deposit in cash (they don't accept credit cards for deposits for some reason) and emailed Vinnie some reference photos. The major reason I wasn't entirely satisfied with this place is because I wasn't offered the opportunity to consult with Vinnie prior to my appointment. I suppose this is because my tattoo was very simple and Vinnie is limited on time. But since this was my first tattoo, I would have felt much more comfortable had I consulted with Vinnie instead of meeting him on the day of my appointment. Since I was unfamiliar with the process of scheduling and planning the tattoo I didn't think to ask. The day of my appointment he quickly drew a stencil for the tattoo. Second major issue: The room I was in for the tattoo was right behind the front desk where I was visible to anyone coming in. I thought I would be put in a more private room so this felt awkward. The appointment only took about half an hour. Vinnie is a cool guy and passionate about what he does, but something about using a stencil for the tattoo based on a stock image felt impersonal, like the tattoo wasn't entirely mine. The tattoo wasn't bad by any means, but something felt missing and I couldn't pinpoint what. The tattoo studio is clean and prices are reasonable, so I would consider coming back here if 1) I could consult with the artist before getting my tattoo and 2) I'm placed in a more private room. I haven't had these issues when I got a tattoo at The Hole Look. I got a detailed consultation, a tattoo that actually felt like it was made for me, and a private, spacious room. So because of that I'm more inclined to return to The Hole Look instead of here for future tattoos. read more

After being referred here multiple times my brother, my sister and myself came to see Erin for some memorial tattoos for the recent passing of our father. We all had very different ways of memorializing him and Erin did such a fantastic job with all of our ideas. I gave her an illustration and a quote, she picked the location, size and set up and I am MORE then happy with how it came out. My brother was getting his first tattoo. He gave her a pretty vague idea and she managed to give him a truly awesome yin yang tattoo with a lunar eclipse in it. My sister had "laughed everyday" put on her in my dads handwriting as that is what my dad said he wanted to be remember by. I came in for a cover up and had tattoo idea in mind. I went with Vinnie since I figure it was his tattoo shop, he might have been the best there. Well, first off I showed him a picture of tattoo I wanted and asked him if he could draw up a picture of it, just slightly different and with a personal touch to it. He told me "I don't draw!" .... WTF??? You don't draw?!?! I should've walked out. He found the image of the tattoo I wanted online and enlarged it to cover up my old tattoo. So since he didn't draw up the tattoo for me I just had to trust him. Man, did I mess up! He covered up my old tattoo, but his solution was a completely overly saturated cover up. I'll never again get a tattoo from a tattoo artist who says he doesn't draw. Smh read more

20/10 I recommend Haylee, read why-- I got my first tattoo at 18 here and I just got one today, but I've been many times in between. I have had several artists at a couple shops give me tattoos over the years, each time I am in agony start to finish (it's a tattoo, so obviously!), annoyingly and silently complaining the entire time because I have the worst pain tolerance of anyone I know. I sat 4 hours today with Haylee, there are many more go another day, and it was an actual breeze. She has THE LIGHTEST touch I've ever felt. She is smooth, efficient, and an incredibly talented artist. My pain was maybe at a 2/10 the entire time and it was the entire left side of my torso. I'm actually floored at how amazing it was. Okay, so I've been around the block getting tattooed. I've been tattooed in Florida, Colorado, Washington and Alaska. I've been tattooed at three, yes three different places in town here. My third one I fell in love with. In fact, I told Vinnie, regardless of where I lived in the world, I'd come back to get tattooed by him alone. He's a respectable family man with a keen eye and wicked skills. Seriously kids. He's amazing. He fixed three that I got in town here. Yes, three. I only met him because this guy I was dating was on a tattoo kick and was trying to complete his pieces...anyhow, the relationship didn't last, but lord am I happy to have dated that guy- if for nothing more than to have met Vinnie and his skills. Literally don't waste your time on anyone else in town. Not worth it if you actually want your tattoo to look good. read more

I had some great work done by Vinnie in the past. I had went to return to get some very simple work done. The guy at the counter said Vinnie was away for a while but he could easily do it. Trusting in the past and In Vinnie I went through with it. I didn't look up the guy or check his portfolio (my fault) and when it came time long story short butchered the work and when I talked to Vinnie about it he said "you fucked up by not coming to me" exact thing he told me. I was like I went to your shop and had something done anyone should be able to do and he wrecked it. It was undeniable and vinnie said he would fix it when he has a chance and to get back with him on dates and in the photos you can see they were looked at but never replied. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on here about Vinnie and Rebirth. Vinnie is the man! He did my first tattoo, which was on my side (bad place to get your first tattoo when you don't know what to expect by the way!) and he really bared with me when I started shaking and became a little difficult to work with. He also did mine and my husband's matching tattoos which, I must say, are AMAZING! We showed him photos of what we wanted, and he sketched up this awesome, detailed piece and we couldn't have asked for a better tattoo! Vinnie will always be the guy I go to when I want something with a lot of detail, he really has an eye and really takes his time perfecting his work. He's just awesome! This tattoo studio is A+! Good customer service, nice people, and last but not least... AW SOME ART! Vinnie is an awesome dude with Da Vince skill. I'm proud to wear his art on my arms and get compliment everywhere I go. His color is awesome and his black and grey is out of this world. I made the mistake of going to another tattoo shop before I went to REBIRTH and I regret it till this day. Vinnie is the only person I will ever allow to tattoo me again. The other artist are awesome too. Vinnie is always booked up so if you can't book with him the other artist there can hook it up. Coral is mostly by appt so u have to book her in advanced, but she is well worth the wait. The other artist are a little more available for walk ins, but don't let that detour you, they are very skilled and their art is fantastic. I would recommend any artist at this tattoo studio. I guess if you're going to spend the money, spend the little extra to book with Vinnie...? I spent a really nice chunk of change to get my husband's tattoo "fixed" for his birthday, and we were assigned to a younger male artist. I don't remember his name. Granted, it's not always easy to correct someone else's awful tattoo, and the work did improve it some, however my husband did have to offer up ideas along the way. He also requested a small, simple tattoo of 3 triangles intertwined in such a way to make 5 triangles (for our soon-to-be 5 family members) - a line was drawn unevenly or asymmetrically so the artist drew the lines fatter, and what came out was not 5 triangles, but 4. I got a small $50 tattoo 15 years ago that turned out way better. Could have been worse, could have been much better considering the price. Somewhat disappointing for his first professional tattoo. Maybe just know exaaaaactly what you want before going in until you come to know and trust the artist you work with. read more

Got a tattoo of an eagle done here in June of 2016 and wow....amazing work! Super professional and patient in terms of finalizing on a design I was happy with. I can't wait to come back and get more ink, because Vinnie is the best artist in Anchorage or the Valley. And to further compliment the shop, I've been tattooed in NorCal, SoCal, Boston and 3 different shops here in Alaska and I have to say Rebirth's level of professionalism matches the artists that reside inside's ability to produce quality work. Apparently Vinnie's only here once a month or so, and in the mean time, he's left the place to the devices of Vinnie's Angels--the lovely ladies who are inking people up in his absence. The cost for an hour of work here is $150, and all of the ladies here are the same hourly rate. The work i had done was absolutely beautiful, but my tattoo artist seemed a bit slow, thus the work ended up costing more than was estimated. A cliche that stuck, although my one exception only served to prove the rule. 20+ years later, I'm running out of skin and still ink addicted. Vinnie's skills are sharper than a double edged sword, a blessing and sort of a curse according to father who knows best (bless his soul) - he's that good! A highly recommended artist, a word of caution, true regardless of cliche, TATTOOS ARE ADDICTIVE! Comparably priced, and definitely worth every penny. read more

I was able to walk in, with the design I wanted, and within two hours it was on me, looks perfect, and Vinnie was a wonderful person to chat with while it was being done. I had stopped at two other places beforehand and called a third. The first, there were two people there, looking board, but they couldn't get me in for a week, the second was closed on a Monday, the third I called said it could be months. If this was an exam, Laura at Rebirth by Vinnie scores 110%. I just got my 3rd tattoo by Laura, and I am beyond excited. Laura has now tattooed my forearm and both my elbows (honestly pretty brutal to sit through) but she is such an amazing, laid back artist, it made it totally worth it. I made the mistake of getting 2 tattoos from other artist, and that won't happen again. She was cool with me squirmin' around, as well as the occasional four-letter words that slipped out every few minutes. I walked into the shop with ideas of what I wanted and how I wanted my tattoos to look, and she made them look better on my skin than they did in my head. To me, that is a TRUE tattoo artist. It's two days after my most recent tattoo and I'm ITCHING to get more! THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!!! I'd give you 10 stars if I could!! read more

I'm sure their tattoos are great and everything, but I called (multiple times) and talked to a girl and asked if I would be able to schedule a simple tattoo on a Tuesday at 3:00. She said it would be no problem, but I needed to drop by the store to consult with an artist. I told her that I was currently traveling and asked if I could send an email of what I wanted. she said that also wouldn't be a problem. so I immediately sent an email, overly describing what I wanted to give the artist as much info as I would had I gone into the shop, and I sent a picture of the area to be tattooed with references for size. I called the next day to confirm and left a message, no response. no response to the email. assuming this was an honorable and professional shop, I left my Seward adventures early to show up to my appointment (30 min early). a nice lady ultimately told me that I couldn't get done until 2 hours later when I had something already planned and paid for, because I didn't have an appointment and they didn't have access to the email I was told to send my request to. Super disappointed and saddened by this lack of followup on their part. read more

Well over a year ago, I gave them a $100 deposit and TALKED for a few minutes about getting a tattoo done in the future. When I decided later that there may be a better artist for me, I walked in twice (the owner was not there) and asked for my deposit to be returned. It was refused on both occasions. I left a note for the owner to please call me and he never did. I sent emails and they were never responded to. This shop didn't draw a picture, put me in a chair, make an appointment, or spend ANY AMOUNT OF TIME on my project, yet they still kept my deposit. In life, when you take someone's money and provide nothing in return, that is called theft. That is what I experienced here. read more

I left this tattoo studio as a satisfied customer. I love my tattoo, exactly how I wanted it to be. The studio is very neat and clean. I love how the place makes me feel comfortable and safe to get a tattoo. It's not ur typical tattoo shops with graffiti all over the place. Although there is art posted up inside the room they set you in but not ratty looking like most places. The girl who did my tattoo was awesome she was very gentle. Also really kind. Wonderful service. I believe her name was Aaron. I definitely recommend this place. I plan to return for another piece. read more
