A long time ago I remembered brewers from the now defunct "Lorelei Brewing Company", an excellent brewery suggested me to check out the "Rebel Toad Brewing." The thing is that they have interesting hours, which made it hard for me to go visit. And my only way of trying their beers has been exclusively, at the bar inside the Hilton Double Tree Hotel. Enter having Valentine's Day on a Friday, which opened up the possibility to finally visit it. One thing about downtown Corpus Christi is that it is small and therefore absolutely no parking is available. Making going to Rebel Toad a bit precarious. We were able to secure a spot in the front before it opened at 3 pm. Having passed by it before I thought it was much bigger but it is small inside. There are a couple of high tables and chairs, accompanied by counter seating. I believe the owners are a couple and they were very friendly. The taplist is seven-ish beers deep. Some places are weary about giving samples. They offered some with recommendations. But me, I opted for a flight. Their beers are good. I did enjoy their "Liquid Haze IPA" but I think it's laid-back vibe close to the beach is what I ultimately appreciated. In addition a really killer playlist of the 80's was in the background. Any place that plays "Depeche Mode" will get my patronage, all day. The parking situation leaves a little to be desired. And I think not having food or at least nearby options might be an issue for some. But not for me. I probably will come back here again. But I'd like to visit here at night. In my city of San Antonio the craft beer scene is a bit inundated at the moment. In my opinion the Corpus Christi craft beer scene is in its infancy and might remain there for awhile. Rebel Toad Brewing can only help build that community. Now if I can only get rid of my fear of the ocean caused by seeing "Jaws." Then again the city is so laid-back back, I'll probably run into him here. And the 1st round will be on him. read more

We'd been wanting to come here for YEARS but usually when we were rolling through corpus, they either weren't open or we were driving back to San Antonio. So in excited to day we were finally able to visit, and it happened to be first Friday where there were local vendors outside and the had a DJ too. They offered some really solid beers and had some that were a good nod to the local flavors also. The space is family friendly, and pet friendly in the outside area. Definitely a solid little brewery in corpus. read more

Maybe we went on a bad day. Probably our our least fave of all the breweries we visited in Corpitos. Beers had a weird, soapy after taste and didn't really enjoy them. Good thing we got flights and didn't commit to full pours. read more

They are good if one likes IPAs, otherwise their beer is mostly too hoppy for the title. Good location but no food.

Great beer and great atmosphere. They have a decent beer selection, I tried their IPA which was pretty tasty. Came on a Saturday night before a dinner reservation nearby and had a great time. They have board & card games so if you're with a partner you can entertain yourself. Also had 2 TV's showing football. The art on the wall gives the place character and the music is what sets it apart. Overall, a great atmosphere. Will be checking out when in Corpus again. read more

I love this place!! The people are very nice and knowledgeable of the beer that serve! They will also give you a little sample of a beer to try it before you buy it!! I visited Lorelei brewery (meh) and had some Lazy Island IPA on tap while in the area (worst "Ipa" I've ever, ever had, the place should be shut down based on that "Ipa")). I recently relocated to Texas from San Diego, CA. San Diego is the craft beer capital in the US. I can say I am a beer snob, I enjoy good, flavorful beers. It's not easy to find good beers (with lots of flavor) to my liking that are brewed in Texas. Except Rebel Toad...I was thoroughly impressed by their selection of beers on tap. My husband is also a craft beer snob, and homebrewer. The owners are a husband and wife team, so friendly!! The husband gave my husband a tour and talked about the plans they have for the brewery. The location is way cool, being downtown CC. The tasting room is super laid back, they have cool art hanging on the walls, and different board games available to play. They seem to have food trucks come by often too. We stopped by on a Saturday around 5PM and their was a food truck setting up. I can't wait to go back! read more

Corpus' newest brewery. Great location, just a couple of blocks from the ocean in downtown. The taproom is comfortable (and decorated with some bizarre art), and there was a great food truck parked outside. Service was friendly and helpful. They had 5 beers on tap when we visited. I tried 4 of them - all were good representatives of their styles. I can't give Rebel Toad 5 stars yet, though, because all the beers on tap were a little light for my taste. I can't wait to try the IPA and porter (probably on our next visit to town) and hopefully raise their rating to 5 stars. read more

Cool name, but the beer was only decent. Their selection was pretty good, and my flight was serviceable, but there was nothing to truly rave about in the 8 different beers my table tried. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking as well. I think they are still somewhat new, and nothing was *awful*, so if you are in Downtown Corpus give them a chance. I'll probably go back to see if they step their game up in brewing or atmosphere (or both). Still cool to see this kind of place crop up in ol' Corpus. read more

The other reviews live up to the hype! For good local craft beer in Corpus Christi this is your place. The beers are excellent and the owners Natalie and Hector (Toadie) are super friendly. I cannot tell you how many people came in and they welcomed as if they were a friend they haven't seen in a long time. For locals to visitors they treat you as if you are a neighbor. If it's not busy they are happy to talk beer with you! You can tell the owners take pride in their place as it shows! The place is clean and hip. Something Corpus Christi is/was in need of. Currently Rebel Toad is only open on Friday and Saturday. I do not think that will last long for their beer is just to good and the demand to come and hang at the brewery and talk shop and sip suds will cause them to open a couple other days. Toadie (owner) gave me a quick tour of the brewing process and while it is small there is a lot of science and pride going into his beers. If you are visiting Corpus Christi come by and have a beer and some tasty food truck eats. There are others breweries in Corpus Christi but this is the best in downtown! read more

Phenomenal place. Tried this after a Hooks game and it was packed. Live band, grad party, standing room only. Even though it was packed, we were able to get drinks right away. I was undecided between the golden amber and intrigued by the cucumber ale so the lovely lady being the bar let us sample the cucumber ale. I was hooked from the first sip. I had 4 before the night was over, bought a growler and had it filled with more cucumber ale for my husband to try when I got back home. It is the perfect summer beer. Everyone working there was amazingly attentive, there were games to play and a good truck outside. Everyone kept bringing food in and we decided we couldn't resist the street fries. I think spent more on swag there than we spent on beer, but only because they have a killer logo and it was so good. I will definitely miss this place as I head back to southeast Texas. My only regret is I only bought one growler of the cucumber beer. read more
