Personally, I think that a DJ is one of the toughest vendors to decide on for a wedding. For catering, you can taste the food, and for the florist, photographer, etc. you can easily see past work. With music, it is was a bit more difficult for us to know which direction to take. After our initial phone call consultation with DJ Vega, we knew he would be a great fit. He was professional and thorough, yet had the perfect balance of being laid back and accommodating. He sent us a detailed spreadsheet to fill out before with our song and genre preferences, which was a huge help! On the actual wedding day, he worked closely with our day-of-coordinator to keep us on track and things running smoothly. He was able to read the crowd well and played songs that fit our group well. In the planning process he was relaxed and prepared, needed very little of us, but was also willing to take whatever instruction we asked for, and was a calming, confident presence on our wedding day. We hit him with a somewhat last minute, very strange request to sample lines from our favorite SNL skit and work them into the dancefloor music, assuming he would think we were crazy, but he enthusiastically had the audio pulled within days and went above and beyond mixing a custom song for us with the SNL audio. A week before the wedding we asked for a disco ball and he found a way to borrow one at no extra cost to us. He was also a wonderful MC, which was a more significant element of the day than we anticipated. He was so active on the day of, constantly monitoring volume levels, crowd mood and reaction, etc., adjusting volume of the mic on my groom for when he was speaking versus when I was speaking a few feet away from the mic - it was all flawlessly executed.
