Look how they pull my hair pissed
che' m.

Went for small individuals got smedium. I Made her redo my entire head she had medium, large, and small braids I kept telling her they were too heavy she kept blaming my hair for being full and me wanting small braids. I was exhausted from constantly saying that's to much hair but at least this time they are the same size. They been in for almost one month and feel like my scalp is pulling taking out this week. they don't believe in hair care they want a check. The first week I had to remove some of my edges and make curls because she took mico pieces and put medium hair on top. DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY TIME OR EFFORT THEY WILL HAVE YOU BALD AND PISSED

Why say you can if you can't? I was specific over the phone!

Tell me why I walk in and this lady is not wearing a mask! She's the one closest to the door. My appointment is at 10am, 3 of them have someone on their chair...she said she would be with me shortly. If you cannot do something, why waste anyone's time? I called and let the person on the phone know I was asian and wanted two French braids, asked how much and was quoted $30, fine. When I get there, this lady wants to put fake hair on my head because my hair is too silky and she wants to charge me $40! I have a full head of straight hair & this is not the first time I've done this. I have my hair braided every time I go to the beach, but I said if it's easier for you, just a little is fine. The lady on the phone quoted $30, she wants to charge me $40 and the sign on the wall says $10 per French Braid! I wanted two so it should be $20, right? Go figure! I told her many times "No Gel! But if you need to, then just put a little...". 10:35am and I'm almost ready to leave, but she tells me to sit, and begins... There is no mirror infront of me so I don't know what she's doing - when I check on my phone - I am drenched in Gel!!! She made me wait so long, wanted to add fake hair when I didn't want that, and she drowned me in gel!!! I was so upset I left! & rightfully so, because I went home to shower and dry my hair so I can go to Planet Hair! Did I mention she's not wearing a mask?! It was so awful I do not recommend this place. Go to Planet Hair or Nadines Braiding!

A caronavirus health risk to clients- not properly wearing mask, despite health Department requirements.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK YOUR LIFE NOR HEALTH!! I arrived at the salon to see most of the employees not wearing masks. For those who did have on a mask, wore it under their noses. I asked them to pull it up and the others to wear a mask, but they became offended. The lady who did my hair, snuck it back under her nose. I put on my phone's camera; therefore, I could see her in back of me with her mask under her nose-AGAIN. They allowed customers to come in without masks. One girl came in without a mask, and I asked them about their requirement to also have clients wear masks. They instigated and told the girl, I took her picture, and then they told me to clear my phone if I had pics. The nerve!!! The client began to argue with me, because of their instigation. They could care less about clients' safety. The next day , I texted the owner, but she responded and told me I had an attitude with her staff. She didn't take accountability although I had proof, nor did she allow me to explain the situation. She yelled, was accusatory, and talked over me. She also mentioned I'd spent only $40 and her braided was upset. Initially, I planned to talk with her instead of file a complaint or posting a review, but realized she deserves the negative review and complaint to the health Department. I sent her proof, so she became concerned and texted me that her mother just got hit by a car and died. I ignored, so she continued to text then I blocked her. Selfish, rude, and inconsiderate!

Braids i asked for

This was hands down the worst time I've ever had in a hair salon. I came for waist length knotless braids and the first thing I would like to point out is my appointment was for 9 AM and the women didn't start showing up to open the store until 9:20 and after. I did not start getting my hair washed and blow dried until 10:00, the lady was extremely rough as well. 10:45 rolls around and I'm still waiting for my hair to be braided and at this point I'm irritated because now I've been here for almost 2 hours with no service. Finally when one of the women comes into the shop she asks me to show her the style, then she proceeds to have me show the style to 3 other women as if she didn't know how to do it. It's now 11:00 AM and she finally starts braiding, she shows me the first braid and I say no that's too small and she repeats "too small?" And rolls her eyes and angrily cuts the braid to take it out. Time passes by and she is being extremely rough with the braiding, knotless braids are supposed to be tension free and this experience was not that at all. There was an incident where she literally yanked my hair to get me to keep my head on one side and I had to yell at her and say "YOU'RE HURTING ME". Throughout the appointment she had an attitude whenever i would move to stretch she would grab my head and try to push it back in the direction she had it and was always sucking her teeth and rolling her eyes if i moved the slightest inch. The last incident that sent me over the edge was I asked for some tissue to blow my nose and once I did she like "you need to go wash your hands" which I didn't mind because I was going to go wash my hands anyways so I said okay. When I come back she's asking everyone in the hair salon for a mask and nobody is responding to her so she just continues braiding. About an hour goes by and I clear my throat because I haven't had any water so as I reach in my bag for water she stops doing my hair and storms away rummaging through boxes in the store. She then comes back and literally shoves a mask in my face and says "you need to put this on." So I said no, I'm not putting the mask on everyone in here has on no mask why are you coming to only me , and she says "well you blew your nose and now your coughing" and I said first of all I blew my nose an hour ago because I'm a human and I'm allowed to go blow my nose and second of all I'm not coughing so no I'm not putting the mask on I don't even know where you got it from. She then proceeds to hold the mask in my face for another minute and then slams it down on the counter and starts talking angrily in her language. I will never come back to this salon and I will be getting a refund for this because at the end of the appointment i didn't even receive the style i asked for! Extremely rude women, horrible customer service, and inexperienced braiders who claim they know how to do a style and don't.

Annum is THE person to go for all your hair related needs. I promise you, you won't go anywhere…read moreelse after seeing her. Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! I appreciate that she has her own private suite in a salon with other artists which does make her hijabi friendly BUT bear in mind that there are men who will walk around as they probably work there too. I have hijabi friends who don't see this as a problem but to each their own. In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. Booking is easy but she does book super fast so make sure you make your appts well in advance! My thick desi hair won't let anyone else touch it so seriously, treat yoself and get your hair blessed by Annum and her magical hands!

I recently moved to the DMV from NY for school and decided to go with her salon because I wanted to support a small business and the other reviews were great! Booking the appointment was seamless. Annum was able to accommodate an earlier appointment time for me since I had a scheduled meeting later that afternoon. I visited her almost a month ago on April 6th, 2021 so here is my comprehensive review. My balayage took a little under 1.5 hours to complete. She was very efficient while also ensuring that my hair retained its natural moisture and health. She made sure that she respected my time due to my meeting later that evening. When I returned home, I did notice that the toner didn't take on a small but noticeable section of my hair that was noticeably blonde. I immediately texted Annum to let her know and she squeezed me in the same day to reapply the toner for the area, which was a very quick fix. Not every hair stylist would show this level of dedication to ensure that I had the best experience. After a month, the color has held up beautifully and I've received endless compliments on her work. In terms of parking, there are public parking garages on the same street that are affordable and accessible (~$1.25/hr). Highly recommend booking her, she's very professional, honest, and genuinely takes care of her clients! Support your small businesses and book her!!
