Being new to Toronto, I wanted to find a place that offered waxing, pedicures, facials, shaving,…read moremassages etc. A one stop shop specializing in men's grooming. I searched on Yelp and came across BODE spa. I read the reviews and the owners comments. Everyone has different expectations and meeting those expectations is a matter of communication. I booked a massage and wanted to possibly get my eyebrows and nose waxed but wasn't too sure how comfortable I would be. I asked the receptionist on the phone if I could book 30 minutes with the waxing specialist and then a 60 Minute massage. Calling the day of and last minute I was expecting to be told nothing was available. To my surprise Pietro Pantenella was available. I showed up at my appointment time and was greeted by Pietro. Ok five stars for customer service from the moment I walked in. Pietro showed me to the room and I got to ask questions about if waxing hurt and what their process was. Again five stars. Pietro saw I was unsure of services I wanted but he quickly put me at ease with his calm and relaxing demeanor. Throughout the time In the spa he spent the time to check in with me to make sure I was doing ok. Not sure about you but after seeing the 40 year old virgin movie and watching Steve Carrell get waxed, I was nervous. A little pricey but my Overall experience was nothing but five stars and thank you to Pietro for making me feel relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend BODE spa. Ask for Pietro.

I decided to do the 30 minute foot reflexology with the 10 minute shoulder massage and then get the free 10 minutes added on to it. At the time I went, it was $40 total. The place was clean and the rooms were private. Seating area looked very nice. I really enjoyed my foot rub but I did find the shoulder massage was mediocre. I don't think the therapist was targeting the right spots. Perhaps getting one of the other staff might have been better. Other than that, it was a good price.

Blue Sky Health Center is in the middle of the Dundas strip of Chinatown on the north side between…read moreSpadina and Beverley around the AGO where this area kinda ends. My first impression is that this is the most legit spa I've seen in Chinatown so far. Even their business card says "accept insurance" on it so someone there must have a RMT license and adhere to the rules enough to keep their license. The other thing that gave me a more elevated impression about Blue Sky is that they have some expensive looking gear in there. Not that I know what it's for but it looks impressive. Now that I've tried reflexology, I'm hooked on that and find it relaxing and a great way to get in the mood for a massage. It helps to be in the right mood for a massage to be effective. If it takes a half hour into the massage to get that way, then that's less time for the massage to do the most good. I had a smartly-dressed more mature woman named Lucy take care of me, and she told me to try and sleep or relax with the reflexology and turned the lights right down to pretty dark which was great and worked a treat. Since they tend to massage up your calves it's almost a good idea to take your pants off, or wear light sweatpants so they aren't fighting their way down during the reflexology. Next the massage and her technique was quite impressive. She wasn't a large person but amazingly strong and could boss my body around without a problem. I appreciated how she could grab a leg or other part and shake it like you sometimes want to shake sense into someone (but can't) and in this case my body needed some sense shaken into it, so wow I'll be considering Lucy as my go-to for the best value in Chinatown massage done right! I didn't see it on the sign in the room, but at the desk they listed a 90-min massage as an option, which would be awesome especially coupled with another 30-min of reflexology beforehand. Recommended!

Deceptive! You may call me naïve, but I went there recently, first time, thinking it was a…read morelegitimate shiatsu, reflexology spa. I was encouraged to get the 60 minute Shiatsu massage and bottom line, it's a rub and tug, if you know what I mean. It wasn't Shiatsu at all, they were probably trained on the spot, I could have done better with limited knowledge. Bottom line, if that's your thing , it was probably great, if you want a real shiatsu, Swedish or reflexology treatment, do your research, this isn't it. To be completely fair, I was at another spa close by a while ago for a foot massage and I doubt if it was any different, although I can't prove that, I only had the foot massage. Just an alert to anyone who maybe looking for a real massage, not a rub and tug.

Sasha from Beijing took care…read moreof me at this basement spot on the north side of Dundas and was very friendly with a welcoming smile, which helped to make up for the lack of English, which was only rudimentary. What she lacked in communication, she more than made up for with mad skills in reflexology. Amazing! When I left the spa, I immediately noticed that what felt like a bruise on the bottom of one foot was completely gone. That's something I hadn't experienced before and was very impressive. I asked about the options for combos and when I said, how about the 45/60 min foot/body option for only $10 more than the 30/60, she said "too long" lol, ok I get it. Going by how hard she worked on my feet, that extra 15 minutes would be a killer grind for a measly $10 extra. Sasha was one of the friendliest people I've met in these spas, with a kiss and a hug to send me out into the winters night, nobody would complain about that kind of send off! Her body massage was top notch and I can highly recommend Nasha, for your muscle relaxation needs.
