I don't think it would be possible to overstate how valuable Melanie McNearney was to us as our realtor, or how committed she was to serving our needs as clients. Melanie helped us purchase our first home 10 years ago, and she was absolutely invaluable then, making the long, convoluted process of real estate easy for a couple of newbies. So this year when we decided it was time to sell, she was the first person we called. As great as she was when we bought the house, I think she managed to outdo herself the second time around. She did an excellent job of helping us navigate the listing process and giving honest feedback about things like our home's potential value, and how to price it right. She helped us focus on the most important things, like where to invest time and effort in getting the home ready to sell, and which things were not worth worrying about.
Just before we were ready to go on the market, my family experienced a major illness that forced us to leave town for five weeks. We handed Melanie our keys and from there, she handled everything; coordinating photos, listing, inspections, and a whole host of other things that needed to be done during listing and closing. She sold our house for us while we focused on other things halfway across the country. In the end, we had multiple offers within a couple of days of listing and sold for well above asking.
That was excellent, but we suddenly found ourselves needing to find a place to live from a thousand miles away. Melanie set us up with rental listings, and then when we had some we were interested in, she personally visited every single one and gave us FaceTime tours of each of them. We just needed a small, temporary lease to hold us over before we relocate out of state next year, so we honestly weren't that picky. I was ready to sign off on the first place we saw and just be done with it, but to Melanie it wasn't good enough. None of them were good enough! She kept finding better options, We kept okaying rentals, and she kept vetoing them! In the end, she saw an agent posting a sign in a yard, pulled her car over, got us a tour on the spot, and gave her personal seal of approval on a property that wasn't even listed. We had secured the lease before it ever officially made it to listing, and she was right. It was significantly better than the other options we looked at, and it fit our needs perfectly.
Melanie basically held our hands through the entire process, getting so much work done on her own, helping us stay on track with the parts she couldn't do for us, and allowing us to worry about other things, because we had total confidence that the sale was in great hands. In the end, about the only thing we really had to worry about was getting home in time to move our stuff across town. And when we managed to mess that part up, she showed up to closing with a car full of stuff we had accidentally left behind.
It's clear that Melanie loves what she does. She never stops working. But beyond loving what she does, it's clear that she genuinely loves her clients. She always had our best outcomes as her top priority. She's fair, honest, compassionate, and she was working for us nonstop. The level of commitment she made in helping us find a silly little temporary rental was hands-down so far beyond the scope of what any reasonable person should expect from an agent, we were blown away. We're moving out of state next year, and I'm currently trying to convince Melanie to consider relocating too so she can help us with our next home purchase, because I'd never want to work with anyone else. read more
