I am a young professional moving to the Seattle area for a new position in a corporate office. I have held corporate positions since college and have had several background checks done on me. The company I will be working for is very well known, and I passed their background check with flying colors. I applied for three apartments in Seattle and was approved within hours at two of them, but not at the third, which was the building and location I really wanted. My background check came back unsatisfactory and I was "denied" the apartment, however, the apartment complex called and said I could dispute it and they'd hold the unit for me. I figured this would be taken care of the following Monday as the only thing that could have possibly shown up on my record was an underage drinking ticket I got back in college. I had to borderline harrass Realpage to take care of this in a "timely" manner. (And by "timely", I mean I had started contacting them at 8am central Monday morning and did not receive results until 4:45pm central Friday afternoon). Then - my results ended up being a charge that did not belong to me from the state of Wisconsin!! The employees at Realpage were extremely unhelpful, they either did not know the answers to my questions, or just didn't care enough to answer them without giving me the run around. They all made me feel like I was the one in the wrong and I received zero apology for having put the wrong record on my report, which could have cost me thousands of dollars if I didn't get this apartment. I ended up getting the apartment, but when I am making a cross country move, the last thing I needed was to be denied an apartment because of a crime I didn't even commit because Realpage doesn't bother to make sure they've got the right person. If i could give this place a negative star I would. I was denied today for an apartment lease I applied for. I was told by the property manager I was denied because of an "unpaid balance" on a prior property I rented at. They also told me they couldn't tell me what property it was from. As surprised as I was, I went to my credit report..... Nothing was found on the report which wasn't surprising.... I called the manager back and questioned this "unpaid balance" At this point they gave me the prior property. This was so factually incorrect, I went right to the prior property over lunch and questioned this "unpaid balance" The property manager at my prior residence was dumb founded and nothing in her system claimed I had an unpaid balance. She wrote a letter saying the "unpaid balance" was incorrect and that I had a zero balance with this property. After wasting half my day getting this documentation I submitted a dispute through Realpage. They called me back within a few hours and explained to me they would have to send the documentation to my prior residence for them to confirm this was accurate. The rep from Realpage explained this process could take up to 30 DAYS! I'm suppose to move from Minnesota to Florida within 2 weeks. Don't ever apply for a rental property if they use Realpage. WAIST OF TIME, WAIST OF MONEY!!!!! Mind you i'm a veteran with a son under 2. I hope I can find a rental before I make the move to Florida. read more

My credit is considered Good/Excellent and my apartment rental history is excellent (no evictions, always early or on-time rent payments, quiet, and always clean with a returned deposit). I applied to a rental community that used Realpage's credit software and was informed by the rental community that, according to Realpage's assessment, my credit was questionable and my rental history rated 800 out of 1000! This required the rental community to charge me a "penalty" of a non-refundable deposit, or an extra, potentially-refundable $1000 deposit! Technically, I could afford to pay either the non-refundable or refundable deposit, but that wasn't the point: I didn't like being made to feel like I was a shady tenant! Again, my credit score is considered Good/Excellent and I just got a new job with a higher salary; when I've previously rented at other places, my credit score was a bit lower and my salary was lower and I wasn't penalized. But these rental communities didn't use Realpage! Most likely, I'll forgo the apartment (even though I'll end up losing $255 in rental application fees!) and rent a house. Way to go, Realpage! If your goal is to insult and deter quiet, clean, steady-paying tenants with your credit/screening software's bad algorithms, you're doing a great job!!! read more

The scumbags at this company do everything to help the property management company to rip you off. Charge a 12% fee for billing service, process ACH payment without verifying the routing number (so they can charge you a NSF fee later). The billing system they provide is a huge mess in an attempt to confuse the renters. Whenever there is a billing issue with realpage,the property management company can dump all that crap on the renter and take no responsibility. After a couple of phone calls, emailing a copy of my drivers license to prove my middle name didn't match anyones on any Registries, the matter was cleared up within a day. Would be nice not to have to go through all of that just because of a common first and last name, but excellent customer service over all. read more

Real Page is the absolute worst screening/vetting company I have ever come across or even heard of. They gave terribly wrong information to my son's prospective apartment complex (about me, as the guarantor). Within a matter of hours after receiving the erroneous report, I sent Real Page official documentation unequivocally showing the report was incorrect. A representative at Real Page said he would "expedite" the review of the dispute. That was over three business days ago. I don't know what is more shocking: Real Page's terrible reporting or the apartment complex's relying on Real Page for screening! read more

From time to time I check with these guys (nice name change guys, what are you running from?) as I forget how FUBAR the guys are. This time it's " You need to register before we can tell you if you need the excess GL insurance for your specific trade". Me: "So I need to pay the $99 and register before you can tell me?" Them: "That's not what I said" Me: "That's what the Greystar/CD forms says, Call, pay the fee and complete the registration". Them: "Well you need to register and fill the forms out before we can determine if you need more than 1MM GL insurance". I get the need for verification checks, I don't get how major management companies use these bozos (sorry Bozo, it's just a pop culture reference, I mean no disrespect to the fine culture of the clown world) I'm a good vendor with a solid reputation and I won't risk it getting tainted with Compliance Depot aka "RealPage" and next month who knows what they will call their selves.The only rational explanation is a fine tuned system of KBs Vendors: Respect yourself and the business and pass on anyone associated with these people. Help!!! I'm a student at UC Berkeley (Cal) and I applied for an apartment with my dad as a co-signer but was denied without just cause. My dad is a certified public accountant and has never been denied a loan or lease application for anything in his life because of his punctual skills when it comes to personal finances, an out of this world annual income, and excellent credit. The folks over at realpage told my father and I that our application was denied due to an outstanding balance not being paid on an apartment my older brother got many years ago, which my dad signed for. Shortly after contacting the manager of the apartment complex, the one that realpage claimed my dad had an unresolved outstanding balance for, they explained to me that not only did my dad not owe them any money, in fact they refunded him some money in the final statement because he had overpaid. Upon realizing the mistake made on realpage's end, my father and I filed a dispute with a copy of said final statement via docusign as soon as we could, and it has been more than a week and have heard no reply via email or otherwise. I have reached out to realpage multiple times over the phone and have only been met with cryptic, borderline salesman rhetoric when I try to get a feel for the time table of these disputes since I have a fixed move-out date. This experience has been extremely disheartening because I have been nothing but transparent and proactive on my end, to say the least, and realpage hasn't done anything to try and meet my dad and I half way here and get this dispute resolved. I have never attempted to lease an apartment before this experience, and call me naive but I was under the assumption that eligible candidates with squeaky clean credit history looking for an apartment would be welcomed with open arms. I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! In short, realpage denied my application under false pretenses and have been extremely unreliable and unproductive when it comes to getting this dispute resolved. In the meantime, I am stuck living in an extremely unhealthy dorm room with exposed asbestos because of a mistake made on realpage's end and I'm completely out of the loop and out of control of the outcome which means I can't move out until this is resolved. I am basically secreted between a rock and a hard place, and after getting a chest x-ray yesterday was told I have an acute respiratory infection, thanks in no small part to the exposed asbestos in my dorm room. If anyone from realpage is reading this review please help me resolve my dispute so I can get out of a toxic living situation. I still have not heard back on what is going on. Like the other reviewers if I could leave zero stars I would. The Compliance Depot / RealPage are a completely unprofessional. Having to pay between $80 & $100 to be a vendor is a HUGE RIPOFF. My services don't cost that much and having to pay that much eats all of my profits. It's just not worth having to go through the hoops this joke of a company make you jump through. If you can stay away from them then RUN AWAY. They just aren't worth it unless a huge contract is on the table. read more

Reading the reviews from this company, I can see that there is a high level of incompetence with them and I am not entirely sure why rental agencies continue to use them. I recently found an apartment that I loved after searching endlessly for months. Yesterday I received a denial stating, Rental history unsatisfactory or insufficient, credit history unsatisfactory, and fraud alert. I requested a copy of the consumer report and saw numerous errors resulting from their screening. Concerning the rental history, their own report stated that I have no evictions, however they only verified rental history with the complex that I am seeking to move from that I have only lived in for 10 months and completely ignored the past 3 other apartments that I have had in my name and left in good standing. Of course if you only verify a 10 month rental, then the rental history would be insufficient. Concerning my credit history, they noted that I have a derogatory mark on my credit for an account that is currently open and in collections, although it is clearly listed with Equifax that the account is closed and I have NO accounts in collections? Like do I have to do all the work for you?! Where do you locate this false information that you use to deny people and affect their livelihood. Also, I had to use a family member as guarantor who placed a fraud alert on their account to protect against suspicious activity. This individual was never contacted to verify if their information could be accessed or not. I called numerous times and was told that they do not handle fraud alerts yet you deny someone based on something you do not handle? I disputed the issue and was sent an email back that only noted that I do not owe a balance with the property I currently have a lease with. This was already clearly shown in the consumer report and was not the issue as to why I disputed. This is affecting my ability to be accepted and I need it resolved as soon as possible. read more

This company is the biggest nightmare to deal with! The customer service reps claim to have insurance knowledge or their license, but have absolutely no clue what they're looking at on COI's. In addition, they require me scour through my insured's policy's to find & send the actual AI or WS endorsement... which is usually on a form they are not familiar with, so it isn't approved . Ridiculous. I'm a usually calm, reserved person but these people set my teeth on edge so fast it isn't even funny. read more

Being in the insurance industry we send a lot of Insurance certificates for our clients. Compliance Depot is the absolutely MOST HORRIFIC company we ever have to deal with. They hold up our clients money and kick back certificates even when they are fine. If an "I" is left un-dotted it will get kicked back even. They require contractors to have the most asinine requirements for insurance, and the wording on certificates has to have come from someone with their head in the sand. Any time we see the words Compliance Depot we cringe in our chairs. It makes my job hard enough dealing with these clowns, but I really feel for my clients who are held up from being paid due to ridiculous bureaucratic requirements in place by the beloved Compliance Depot. read more

So I just found out that I was denied by an apartment due to criminal and other public records... This is very surprising as I have never been arrested nor charged with anything in my life. After researching this online I have come across so many examples of this type of mistakes. This is highly unacceptable. I am moving out of state soon and if this negligence causes me to not get this apartment I will be highly upset. I recently dealt with Real Page, I applied at a apartment complex and was denied because of a debt to another apartment( I don't have a debt to another apartment) I pulled my credit and contacted the apartment that I "owed" and they had no knowledge or amount due. When I approached real page the suggested I file a dispute and request a disclosure form. I have. They are so slow I have been denied at the apartment I applied for. I don't believe real page has inaccurate information. Like everyone else's reviews, I applied for an apartment and was denied because of a "Criminal and other public records unsatisfactory" reason. I've never been arrested and have zero criminal history and perfect credit. I just relocated here for a new job as a Senior VP and have never been denied on a rental in my life. No one would tell me what the findings were but I'm able to request the disclosure that will take 3-5 days. Not sure how I can be denied in 35 seconds but it takes 3-5 days to tell me why? I filed a dispute right away and called them directly and again was given no advise or help only that they would expedite the process. If I could give this company less than one star I would. As an agent I work with many clients sending certificates. This company will change requirements depending on who you talk to. If you are a company looking to use them, so somewhere else. They will just give you a bad reputation. They seem to make it harder for contractors to get paid and will do whatever to delay everything. I have not dealt with a company that made it harder for someone to get paid. read more

UPDATE: This is a bit late but I must provide feedback from my experience. After my initial engagement with RealPage, I was contacted immediately by the owner and action was taken. I was contacted multiple times by the customer service team and was assured the matter would be fixed. I am very pleased. Ashley was absolutely magnificent in her efforts. My wife and are relocating from NJ to PA for her job.We gave an apartment complex over $400 to get the process started we needed to move in a 10 day period. My wife and I got declined from an apartment complex for rental history insufficient. We are at a lost.We have been in our current apartment with no outstanding monies and have made rent on time. This is frustrating, I would strongly recommend checking to make sure that RealPage isn't doing background checks. Never had an issue with anything like this before! read more

I was denied for an apartment a few days ago. According to leasing desk I owe a balance from an old apartment complex.. I've escalated my dispute and have yet to hear back from anyone. This is saddening because I may be completely denied and I need a place to live. I have submitted supporting documents. I called several different times to get an update, becuase the leasing office will only hold the apartment I applied to for 48 hours. Extremely poor company. I have excellent credit (over 800) and am anal when it comes to my credit score, which I keep pristine. After owning a home for many years, I applied for my first apartment due to job relocation. There is an obvious discrepancy: the report displayed my Experian credit score of 806 and below it, it stated LeasingDesk Screening: "credit history unsatisfactory" Due to this, I was informed I need to pay an additional one months' rent at the apartment complex I was planning on renting. This screening company is awful. They denied my application due to something that is completely discriminatory and goes against the property management companies practice. I have filed a dispute but have no way of knowing how long it will take, furthermore, the "explanation" section of their dispute process only allows for a few sentences. Its absurd. Very messy company overall. Not sure if its the people coding their software that gives false information on background checks or if its the actual employees not caring but something needs to be done about this immediately. I needed to move into a new apartment and was told the process would be very quick so I moved out of my previous apartment I had a month to month agreement on. The leasing agent sent me my welcome letter and everything. When I arrived at the leasing office on the move in date with my cashiers check for my first months rent and deposit, they tell me that my mother(who was my co-applicant) failed the screening because she has unsatisfactory criminal background. My mother has NO criminal background of any kind, not even a misdemeanor.We have never had this issue. Instead of the issue being taken care of immediately like most successful companies would have , the requested I file a dispute that could take up to 30 days to complete. This is unacceptable and I will be looking into legal options as denying housing due to false information is against the law. read more

We are a long term (6 year) customer of Real Page - we cancelled service several months prior to close of escrow on properties we were selling in our portfolio - 8 months later they now demand payment for services after close of escrow and are threatening to sue us for not paying. Recently my Fiancé and I applied for a apartment and was denied due criminal and credit score, I'm so confused because we were told due to my fiancé's background check that his criminal showed a hit. He had something on there from 15yr ago and was not convicted, he has nothing else on his criminal history besides a traffic ticket same here on mines. Never been evicted nothing credit scores are good enough to rent. Neither one of us has been denied due criminal both have rented prior and currently and no problem. We spent 450 to try to get this apartment not thinking this would happened. Have been given the run around, the leasing office said now they are reviewing our application again. The information was corrected in a timely manner. However, when I called customer relations I was treated extremely rude for no reason. Later that day a manager called and apologized. It doesn't excuse the fact I was lied to in the beginning and was told they didn't have managers. Customer service training is needed. Update: I finally got an email with what was supposed to be my updated information. I attatched proof of my paid debt when I filed the dispute & they're still saying that they're not gonna change it. It's even been updated with all 3 credit bureaus. How isn't that enough proof to correct wrong information in my file? Their level of incompetence is leaving people without a place to stay. I'll be contacting BBB & whoever else I need to in order to get this problem resolved. I applied for an apartment & got denied because I was on a lease with a roommate 4 years ago & the last months rent wasn't paid. It went on my credit report, which I later paid off. I contacted Real Page to file a dispute because as of today I only have a week to move to another apartment. I was told to file one online & they could not give me an estimate on how long it would take, since I am pressed for time. It's already been almost a week & I haven't heard anything back from Real Page. I understand I'm not the only one who needs something removed from a file but peoples' lives don't just stop. Out of nowhere today I got an email from Real Page and they got my address completely wrong because it stated a street named "Lava Dr". I don't live anywhere near a Lava Dr..... anyway they claim I'm ACCEPTED BUT I have to pay an additional $500 because of "Fraud Alert" which makes ZERO sense. I never had identity theft in my life and I'm not paying anyone $500 because of a Fraud Alert that does not exist due to a company that can't even get my street address right. My credit score is in the 700s. Can't get any information from them. Have to fill out a form to find out what the report even says and after filling the form out it takes 3-5 days to see it. Then you're supposed to fill out another form for a dispute that will take multiple days as well. I have credit karma who monitors my credit every month. My credit never stoops below 720. My Equifax rating same day was 740/. Crooks. I think I'll have my lawyer investigate you for fraud. I can't even say that This company deserves a 1 star review. I'm absolutely disgusted. I applied for an apartment out of state and paid $250 up front and was denied due to a animal related crime back in 2011. That's what the property manager told me. I got my Real Estate License in 2016 in which I had to get my security clearance card for so I know I don't have anything on my record besides speeding ticket that matches that date. I called the corporate office to the apartment complex and am only able to get $150 back due to this company providing false information and could take up to 30 days to receive it.
