One of the worst apartment screening companies!! Denials left and right, totally unacceptable!

This place just cost me an apartment due to incorrect history. And based off the comments this always happens. How are they still in business? read more

Unfortunately so many apartments now use RealPage as the application method. Out of the two times I've applied via RealPage, the experience has been needlessly confusing the the user interface is incredibly ineffective. I find that forms are inconsistent, they keep on taking you to payment and confirmation page even when those steps have been completed, it was confusing to determine where to even sign a lease as the RealPage link would simply take you to the general dashboard. Please don't try and apply via RealPage, it has caused much unnecessary stress. read more

RealPage obviously doesn't deserve any stars. They provide an abundance of inaccuracies and mess with people's lives. My husband and I were denied a lease due to something showing up in his background check. The man has a squeaky clean record. We have lived in two other apartments in the last 3 years with no problem. My husband called for a report to fix the issue so that we can re-apply for the apartment. So far they can't give us an ETA on the report or what it can potentially be on the report. Really quick to be inaccurate and mess with our opportunity, but slow to correct their inaccuracy. Horrible! read more

Just writing another review on how we have been wrongfully denied an apartment based on an fraudulent, false "criminal record findings" for my boyfriend. Customer service at Real Page was of no help to us, and unfortunately the rental property has no control over this screening company. I, like many others on here have already paid a large sum of money to the property for an application. The disputing process is taking much longer than it should. My boyfriend has felonies listed on his record for a state he has never even lived in... We are being wrongfully denied on data that is so incorrect. We have never been denied for an apartment, have excellent credit, no evictions, make enough more than enough combined income, and certainly do NOT have any sort of criminal record. PLEASE assist in resolving this. This is truly a nightmare and so disappointing all due to false information provided by RealPage. read more

I applied for an apt and they tell me a vague collection remark without a balance or a name, only a rental collection is showing up. I call the company and they say no details. You have to wait. Now I'm out time and money for no valid reason. read more

Updating my review based solely on the fact that Paige reached out right away to help resolve this issue. Thank you, Paige. The fact still remains that this was a pretty bad "error" to make, and not everyone knows how to deal with these types of stressful situations. Please Realpage pay more attention to your records so people don't fall into a bad credit trap for no reason. read more

Update: After posting a review on Yelp I was able to get a very quick response from RealPage. They contacted me first to let me know it was under review and then a few hours later that it had been resolved, apparently favorably although I am waiting to see that from the apartment. Thanks Paige and Sarah for helping me out, this was emberassing but I appreciate your quick response. It would be really nice if every RealPage customer with a dispute could receive a timeframe and notice whenever the dispute is actually under review. read more

Update: The eviction records do not belong to me. Very timely in handling my dispute. Previous review: The leasing office at the apartment I am trying to lease stated that I have THREE evictions on my record which is false. I've never been evicted a day in my life. I checked my credit reports--no judgments whatsoever against me. I also doubt that they even checked my report because there haven't been any hard inquiries listed. This makes me wonder whose records they're actually checking. I have no idea what's going on but RealPage needs to be out of business. read more

Hi, I'm extremely upset because I recently applied for an apartment and this company reported back to the leasing Office that I had a past eviction or judgment back in 2015! This whole ordeal is stressful and is barring me from housing!! I need help fixing this mistake! Thanks read more

Like some of the others..I never had an issue until Real Page added a fraud alert and bad rental history to my name. The funny thing is I have never rented. I tried calling customer service to no avail. They seemed clueless and unwilling. I guess I will become a part of the class action lawsuit. Hopefully Paige or someone from RP will contact me. I have changed my contact preferences read more

Hi, I need help! I was denied because of a judgment that occurred back in 2015. I was NEVER evicted, however my landlord filed an "order to show cause" to have my vacate the property due to her selling the place. She never forewarned that she had the intention of selling until the very day she asked me to move, I wouldn't. So she took me to Court. She told the judge that she terminally ill and dying and wanted to sell the place beforehand. Judge granted yet allowed to me to choose a move out date. I moved out. The judge said I couldn't be evicted because there was no money due, nor did she have a lease or rental agreement between us. Shortly after the landlord passed. The place was never sold. Please help Paige read more

Update - Received a call from Cynthia who was extremely helpful in explaining the process and what the next steps in a dispute would be. I greatly appreciate having somebody reach out in a timely matter. Original edited - The initial employee I was connected to was helpful in explaining how to submit a dispute however after submitting proof the help number is unable to provide any details on the status or an estimated turn around time. read more

I was denied for an apartment a few days ago. According to leasing desk I've been evicted 6 years ago, and I know I haven't. I've escalated my dispute and have yet to hear back from anyone. This is so heartbreaking bc I may be completely denied and I need a place to stay. I have submitted supporting documents about rental history as well as if i owe any balances. I don't owe anything and i know i haven't been evicted. I haven't heard back from anyone and need to get in this apartment ASAP. read more

My sister and I have great credit history and we are trying to move ASAP. We got rejected for low combined credit score but it makes no sense. I've been trying to get ahold of anyone but no one answers the phone number. This is super frustrating and we don't know what to do read more

Leasingdesk is beyond unhelpful!!! We previously applied for an apartment and were pre-approved instantly. We decided we weren't happy with management and decided not to lease there. Now we applied at a new apartment with the same rental criteria and leasing desk shows inaccurate information such as a balance being owed and unsatisfactory rental history which isn't true!! And showed proof! After 2 disputes and 3 phone calls (2 out of 3 was with the same rude person) and nothing is solved. I have never been denied an apartment and fortunately we were able to somewhat work it out with our future property manager but we are still waiting for leasing desk to contact them directly (which we were told that they do, and have done it while I have been waiting for a solution myself) and this is the only thing preventing me and my family from signing our lease and getting our keys. Leasing desk is very unprofessional as far as their phone representatives and our property manager has been calling herself because it's been a long unnecessary wait and being an applicant isn't getting us any answers and ultimately we feel there is nothing I can do. Being that I called multiple times, filed disputes and sent emails to the email that supposedly will get a fast response specifically asking if they can reach out to our specific leasing agents with their numbers attached and still nothing. This is very frustrating. I'm not surprised everyone else is having issues as well. read more

I WOULD GIVE THEM 0 STAR IF I COULD. This company is the worst I have ever encountered in my life. My girlfriend and I applied to an apartment recently and our application was denied right away due to a claim that is not even remotely true. I have been calling the property and RealPage/LeasingDesk the past few days after work but I get no answers and going nowhere. I have a good credit, good credit history, No criminal record, and I am debt free. I make well over the income qualification for this apartment and still no one is giving me a way to solve this issue. Talked to the credit bureaus LeasingDesk told me to contact and they said there is nothing wrong with my credit. I requested Disclosure of Consumer File and the documents I received do not indicate anything that will flag my application to deny it. I also requested a Consumer Dispute Request to get this fixed ASAP. We are in a time crunch and trying to get this apartment unit secured before it's too late and both of us become homeless or find something we don't want last minute. Hope everybody else will see this review and understand how unprofessional this company is and I cannot believe they are used by many apartment properties to do screening. read more

Currently relocating, and Applied to a apartment complex that told me everything looks good waiting on the managers approval. The next day I received an email from leasing desk saying my application has been denied due to rental history/ insufficient. Never evicted I make 3x the rent . I called in to speak to a rep who could not forward me to a manager . Said they are still doing an investigation on my background... if there's an investigation ,how was my app denied ? Wasn't that already done ? I'm not happy about how this was handled. This needs to be cleared up ASAP read more

(My experience is with AUM which was acquired in early 2018 by Realpage but is who I now get statements from and technically am paying when making payments) This company basically acts as a collection agency for apartment complexes for utilities (that are often included). If you can negotiate cost into your lease before you sign your lease it would definitely be worth avoiding the hassle of working with this company and something I would highly recommend. A Utility management is worst I have ever dealt with. This utility bill management company has unfairly charged me on two occasions that have led to several phone calls to get things straightened out. They also have questionably legal collection policies and basically only accept checks in the mail. Email and online support is not an option. Also it's 2018 and there is no convenient online bill payment option. Also not to impressed with the companies reputation on google, they have 73 reviews and a 1 star rating (I guess now 74). Avoid at all costs. Has not been a pleasant customer experience. This company charges extremely high late fees and processing fees (unavoidable flat monthly charge) and convenience fees that add up quickly including a hefty connection fee and disconnection fee that just seem ridiculous. Avoid at all costs even if that means negotiating your utilities into your monthly rent even if you are a "below average" consumer. It will likely save you fees in the long run. read more

Our application for one of the rental properties was denied the day before. We even have the case number, but they said it would take 3 business days. Now since its a friday today, we have to wait until Monday. We have never had this issue before, and now are kind of scared, that this report is going to affect us wherever we go. Whats surprising is they could reject our application within a day, but it takes them so long to clarify what went wrong or send us the report. It'll be great if they can share the reason behind "unsatisfactory / insufficient rental history" so that we could work with the relevant parties to correct iff anything went wrong from our end. Thanks, Amishi Desai read more

RealPage has fucked up for the last time. I have been rejected on applications more than once now because of their inaccurate reporting. I don't know how this company manages to be so incompetent but it will not be my problem in the near future because I am done with the terrible customer service when I try to call and be cooperative. Lawyer up. read more

Paid almost $300 to apply for an apartment and I get denied because of a "fraud alert". I have never placed a fraud alert in my life and my credit history is almost perfect. I have one week to move in and this company really just ruined everything. read more

I've been working with an apartment for over a week now, we've been told they declined due to an eviction on our court record, but we pulled records from the court and from the previous apartment and all show it was not an eviction, that it was a small claims dispute, and its been paid for 4 years!!! When we proved that, they then claimed that we had open cases in the courts, but when we went back to the courts, they said they were closed 5-6 years ago!!! We have perfect rental history for the last several years, good credit scores, and we make easily 3x the amount of rent! This is getting ridiculous, and I'm starting to get pretty upset about all of these issues that do not exist! read more

Terrible user interface The website lets you set up auto pay days after your bill is due, thus making you pay your bill a day or 2 late and forcing you to pay the late fee. no emails and no mail coming in saying that my bill is late. no communication and they just take money while doing nothing to their website that feels like it was deigned by a toddler. read more

Let me just say I have never in my life wrote a yelp review about anything in my life so when I write this know that I have never been more upset with any company in my life! This is the worst company ever made and they need serious changes or just go into different endeavors all together! My story starts with me and my wife looking at countless apartments hoping to find the right one for the right price. And spoiler we found it! I didn't wanna live anywhere else or deal with looking anymore my heart was content. BUT when we applied they said we owed a balance on our last apartment, which is not true we even have an email from the apartment saying our balance was 0$. So we tried contacting the leasing desk and it was just a lot of wasting time they did nothing for us. 2 days past and we weren't able to secure the apartment and the same day someone else took the apartment. We are now trying to move into one at the same complex AND ITS BEEN A MONTH and now all were still waiting on is the leasing desk..... you cost us our home and they still have done nothing about it! It's so many details and more bad things I could say but all in all they're Update it's been a few days and still have no answers and no abilities to get the home me and my wife wanted! I have never felt so helpless, finding a home is suppose to be a bit challenging but fun and an exciting experience and this company has derailed that experience and have just been the worst kind of people! I called today and after finally trying to get information that apparently they can only give to my wife they gave me when all the said was it's still in progress! I hate being a mean person but this is suppose to be a helpful company and they have completely ruined everything for us with no sense of wanting to actually do something to hel BACK WITH ANOTHER UPDATE! It has been a full week since I made my original post about leasing desk and after a couple of days I was reached on on here with a message from someone saying they would help like most of you all unfortunately unlike most of you all I have been yet to get a message, email, phone call, text, smoke signal etc... again I'm not a bad guy but man I have just been let down time and time again! Have been looking every for a remedy for this situation and yet have found nothing if anyone has any solutions or way that I can file some case against this company please message me read more

This place has just cost me the apartment I had gotten my hopes up to rent and I am completely heartbroken. Realpage has got to be one of THE WORST CREDIT/BACKGROUND REPORTING AGENCIES I have ever seen. It's almost scam like. How on earth do you mix up a person's information who has a DUI AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NAME AND GEOPRAGHICAL LOCATION for someone else? I don't understand it. Thanks to this company I have lost out on 80 dollars for a credit check that I could have used for babysitting. I haven't ever been rejected by a crediting/background agency before due to someone else being a mess up, so this is just disturbing. And to top it off, the link they sent me has no number to actually speak with someone to try and efficiently handle this matter. read more

This is by far the worst screening company that exist. I was denied for an apartment rental due to their screening reporting a balance owed on a property I rented several years ago. I sent the necessary paperwork in showing receipts and proof there is NO balance owed. The property they are referring to that I owe politely called me and said they have no records of a balance with them. The Credit reporting agency they used show NO judgment or balance owed to the property so what is the problem?!! Now I'm being told I have to wait 30 days for an investigation?! An investigation of what?! It is not my fault your company is incompetent and reporting false and inaccurate information on consumers. I have to move immediately and this is preventing me and my family from doing so. I am soooooo upset and will be filing an official complaint with the BBB. read more

Edit. Just found as of 10-16-18 while reporting to the BBB (which has a A- rating) but wont allow me to review BECAUSE they're under FEDERAL INVESTIGATION for unfair reporting resulting in unacceptable practices denying renters based on inaccurate information on a massive scale.) Fined 3 million it says pending. What do we get? Some guy who barely speaks english sending an email to us while holding a roof over our families heads hostage while they "resolve the issue may take 30 days". I know how to make a mess. If my report is not corrected i am filing suit. But first i am going to report to the texas attorney generals office, the Washington attorney generals office, HUD, USDA, and Mercy Housing who contracts through this incompetent company, and of course leave negative google review as will every one of my family members who we are forced to live with due to this unacceptable business practices. Original post- i have just had exact same experience as everyone here. This check is for an apartment at a Mercy Home subsidised project housing which I've been on the list for 5 years for. I finally get my name pulled and the apartment is ready for me to move in next week. I have no criminal convictions yet now I must stay with family for possibly another month because Real Page states I have some conviction on my background it says a conviction in 2014. Yet i have an FBI and WSP background file in my hand done 6 months ago for my job and a credit report yet i am held until these people rectify the situation. Who hires a company with such a horrible track record. Hoping Paige can reach out like she did everyone else. Is she only one running this company?? read more

Possibly the worse designed leasing portal I could have imagined. I have been forced to use RealPage to apply for an apartment, and it's really a total mess. The application process was incredibly unintuitive, and once completed I cannot go back to change my preferred email, or any of my options for my application. Furthermore, the website is almost entirely broken, with almost every single link on the page broken and the menu bar HAS BLACK TEXT ON BLACK BACKGROUND, making them impossible to find (Not that it matters, all the links are broken anyways). read more

Let me start by saying that I have never been denied an application to rent an apartment, I have rented continuously throughout my US Navy Career and have paid on time continuously. An apartment complex management change up caused a hit on my credit. I didnt know about it until I applied for my new apartment. Now i have a letter from the apartment complex fixing it, but am told i have at least 30 days until anything can be done to fix my application. I will be homeless by the time it is fixed. This is not ok, and I am honestly terrified that I will lose everything. I see so many others having similar problems or other problems. This needs to be fixed. I should not be penalized for the actions of those I have rented from, and especially while i have proof of the situation... read more

The same as many other people I was denied an apartment due to incorrect information provided on my report, presumable from using only my name. I was able to dispute the information and have it removed from my report within a week because it was clearly not me based on all other information available. This did not change the fact that the apartment refuses to move forward with my application due to the sloppy work by RealPage, and now I will likely be living on a couch until I can find proper housing. read more

I've applied for an apartment and something is coming on my background that shouldn't be. It's not stating a charge just something showing with no explanation. Anything I've ever had was over 12 years ago and expunged and or dismissed. I've checked with all states and I don't see anything. This is holding me up from getting my place. I also have record of these things knowing I'm clean. I have part time things I do and have to have a clean background to do so and nothing has ever came back. They actually go back meaning you can't have anything on your record. Most companies is 7 to 10 years back. Nothing came up on my current lease as well. There telling me it could be 5 business days but really need this to be expedited so I can continue my move from a different state. I can verify, and I've also done 2 additional background checks that came back clean. I know the law and what can be used against me and I'm 100% clean. Please let me know what you can do to quicken this process. read more

First and foremost, I am a single mother of 2 children and well things are hard as they are for many parents especially this time of year. I'd been on a waiting list for an affordable apartment at one of our dream locations and my boys fell in love, have said numerous prayers about moving here and having a better life. We called a few weeks ago after months of being treated horribly by our current landlord who has been reported by many residents to the AGO's office for unethical and unlawful practices. My kids said, mom we don't want any gifts for Christmas we just want to move to our new house please. I looked them in the eyes and said ok I will make it happen. Well thanks to Real Page that wont happen and I have been in tears for the last two weeks. All 3 of my credit reports show no public records or negative information regarding rental history. I had an agreement with my landlord back in March of this year and the balance was paid within a month. I provided this information to Leasing Desk/Real Page and they still said they would not update my record with the information because the courts still showed a balance. I provided them the information and proof of payment and they still would not remove the information. They returned results on my dispute that said there was no rental history on my screening but then also said on another section that there was an eviction record. I told them again this record was inaccurate for payment reasons and also because I found out that although my landlord sold the company and had since offered me a new apartment at another location that what was showing in court records was completely false, they again still would not deem this information inaccurate. I also found out they were just sued for 3mil dollars but I didn't think they would despite my situation and providing them proof that showed there was validity to what I was saying and that this company was reporting negative information they have ultimately broke my kids hearts. How do you not have any rental history in one column and then have a full out eviction in another. It simply doesnt make sense and something is wrong but they won't fix it. I am hurt and don't even know how to look my kids in the eyes because of these monsters. If this was true then the credit bureaus would have it on my report but they use a 3rd party Lexis Nexis that buys information to pull records. The courts told me that they absolutely do not provide information to 3rd parties and they may have looked on the internet to get that information which again may or may not be updated. I provided these people proof of payments and agreement satisfied and they simply will not rectify. read more

After reading other reviews it seems like i'm a victim of a similar situation. I applied for an apartment that uses this company and they denied my application stating "criminal and other public records unsatisfactory". I have a very solid credit score and have never had legal or payment issues associated with any rental property. I definitely don't have a criminal records either. I called twice for some sort of assistance and both times were instructed to visit the website and fill out a form. The performance of this company is unacceptable to say the least. read more

This company has been extremely unhelpful resolving this issue. I have had this happen one other time and it was resolved within one hour after sending that company the proper documentation. This is delaying my approval for housing while I start medical school. read more

Currently in the process of applying for apartments, the one I applied to yesterday uses this service to do background checks. I received a high score on leasing desk score but flagged for criminal background when I don't have any previous convictions. already paid deposit to the apartment and make 3x income. they're saying it'll take 3-5 business days to dispute. Really frustrating because I don't have a record and it's slowing down the move process.
