This has been here over 40 years snd is a great spot for meeting friends. We are from LI and meet with friends from NJ. Lunch specials are plentiful and choices are good. The sangria is delicious. Staff and ownership are efficient and very friendly. Very happy to patronize this restaurant. read more

If you're in Staten Island and want a really good Spanish meal, Real Madrid is definitely worth a visit. The food was great from start to finish!! Everything we tried was super tasty! Overall just a chill place for a good meal and a nice time. Would definitely recommend read more

Real Madrid is a classic Spanish restaurant where traditional entrées appetizers and desserts are served. Of course, we had the paella Valenciana along with the Gallican soup and the delicious thin fried potato chips. We also shared a a pitcher of sangria (red) and finished off the dinner with flan. The Service is impeccable. There is street parking available nearby. read more

I called in advance to make a reservation and was seated right when I arrived. It wasn't very busy, but there were a few larger groups. Service was still super attentive and helpful from the beginning to end of our meal. At no point did we feel rushed! We ordered a variety of appetizers including the mussels, fried calamari, and shrimp. Everything was delicious. The best part was probably the red sauce the mussels came it. We kept going back to dip our bread in because it was so tasty! For our meals, I personally ordered the Seafood Diablo. Personally, I didn't find it very spicy, but that's a preference thing. The amount of fish included was crazy! I couldn't finish it all, even though I wanted to. Other guests at my table got lobster and steak and everyone was pleased. Despite feeling so full we just had to get dessert! I personally got the Tartufo and loved it. The crème brûlée and lava cake also looked great, and my table raved about them. Overall I have nothing but positive things to say! The prices are a little expensive, but for the quality and serving sizes I wasn't upset. I'll definitely have to keep this in mind next time I'm looking for a nice night out. read more

Delicious food, excellent service, friendly ambiance. Took inlaws out for birthday dinner in January 2025 and had a great time. We had a pitcher of red sangria. For apps we had fried calamari and shrimp in garlic sauce. For dinner, lobster, steak, salmon, and a seafood bowl. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The rest of the diners sang along when the wait staff sang happy birthday and wished her happy birthday on our way out. It's dress casual spot with fine dining. Good portion sizes. We took leftovers home. read more

So I have been contemplating writing a review but I feel like it is necessary for anyone looking to go. Sorry in advance for the long post. My husband is from Spain and when I saw this I thought this could give him a taste of home. I called and asked if the food was authentic and I was assured it was. I am glad I read some of the instructions because the parking was hard to find. It was around a building. Fast forward, it is his 40th birthday and I take him and his friends to this restaurant. There were a few Spanish decorations accompanied by some Italian ones as well. There were not many people in the restaurant which should have been my first clue. We got a sampler platter. It all tasted frozen and there were items on it that were French, not Spanish. The chorizo was also not Spanish chorizo. At that time I was a little disappointed but they had paella options and I was excited about it. Everyone ordered different types of paella. The paella was just ok to say the least and all the seafood didn't taste fresh at all!! Now I was extremely disappointed. I paid a decent amount of money to take him and his friends out and it wasn't what I was expecting and wasn't even that good. The only reason for the 2 stars instead of one is because the wait staff was fantastic. They were all very happy and pleasant and willing to help. read more

I have not been here in about 10 years but my husband and my wedding anniversary falls on Christmas Day and I love Spanish style food so we called and much to our DELIGHT THEY WERE OPEN. The decor then needed an overhaul but the food was Delicious and the service was amazing as was the Sangria. At the time the prices were moderate but that was 10 years ago. I would recommend trying this restaurant out but all restaurant prices have gone WAY UP SO , check menu online if concerned about price. read more

First time coming here tonight to celebrate a family member's birthday (party of 4). I thought the food was ok because it didn't really taste like Spain. Seems more like a fusion in their dishes. Service was good and polite. The atmosphere was old with some Spain decor. The one thing was not mentioned to us was the credit card surcharge of 3% when paying with a card. This wasn't listed on their website, menu or by the waiters and waitress. I only found out after they have ran my card. Also, the receipts are all hand written so check carefully to make sure everything is correct amount. read more

Food isn't as good as last time . I really liked the salad dressing but now it's changed. It tasted like Russian dressing. The chicken villaroy was tough and the bechamel was tasteless. My partner had lobster ( on lobster festival day) and that also wasn't as good. read more

This is by far my favorite place to eat on SI. I have been eating here for over 30 years and have never been disappointed in the food. It's funny that I have watched the waiters grow older and some have now retired. They are all WONDERFUl even when the crowd is heavy on weekends. The favorite items are the lobster especially during lobster feast, filet mignon, paella with lobster or Valencia with sausage and chicken. Drinks are expensive and if you get soda ask for no ice or ice on the side. Coffee and expressos are good but dessert can be hit or miss. If they offered better desserts that were ALWAYS fresh they would be a 5. Why serve tarumisu from a pre packed cup? No have it made fresh like all of the rest of your food. Defiantly a spot that is a favorite though. I eat so much I don't really need the desert anyway! read more

first of all, the food was near rare and when I had went to used the bathroom, they had unlocked the door for someone else. The service was horrible since they just wouldn't bring out anything and said wait wait and wait. The overall ambience and vibe of the place was horrible, it was dirty and everyone was screaming. 1 star. read more

Let me start off with a statement that after 40 years on Staten Island, we are now transplanted Floridians. With being said, when we do travel back North for a visit, the only request from my wife is Real Madrid. From Pepe's warm greeting upon arrival to the delicious Sangria (we like white over red), the delicious dressing on the included salad or the Black Bean soup, you are in for a treat here. While I go for the Lobster Parrillada which has loads of shrimp, clams, mussels, and a big lobster, my wife prefers the Daily Double(2-1 1/2 lb stuffed lobsters). My friend loves the steak and shrimp in ajillo sauce, we all go home stuffed arms satisfied. The deserts come from the outside and are just okay. Large room in the back is perfect for parties. read more

I don't know why It took me 35 years of living on Staten Island to make it here! The food was excellent! I had the shrimp in green sauce, OMG, you just want to drink the sauce from a big glass. Plus, there is more then enough to take home for dinner the next day! We also had the stuffed mushrooms, calamari and another shrimp dish, that I can't remember the name. But it doesn't matter because I tried everything and it was all fantastic. read more

I've lived on Staten Island for most of my life and have been to this restaurant for many years. Unfortunately, I've noticed that the food quality and portion size has dramatically decreased over the years along with increased costs. Today I ordered Paella Valenciana and received 90% rice with some seafood in a shallow pan. I normally go to Costa Verde in South Amboy which is 20 minutes from Staten Island and has much higher quality food with much larger portions and cheaper prices for the exact same thing. I didn't feel like traveling off the island so I ordered from Real Madrid which was a mistake. For those who who have been to Costa Verde you certainly know where I'm coming from. read more

The food is so good, I really love the food is the most delicious and accesible food. I went a lot of times with my family and the ambient, the vibe this place gives me is so good. Started with baked clams, they were absolutely disgusting. Soggy and no flavor. We both ordered the filet mignon, cooked medium. Meat had no flavor, not a hint of salt or pepper. Mashed potatoe portion was the size of a golf ball and they were instant potatoes. They had on the plate because I counted 14 peas with a small piece of roasted pepper on top of it. I frequented this place years agoi it's been about 5 yrs since I've been back. Never going back again sorry Real Madrid you lost my business. read more

Finally, a good reason to go to Staten Island! The decor is a throwback to 1985, but the cuisine is traditional Spanish at it's finest! The shrimp & scallops in green sauce is delicious! Their green sauce is good with everything... even the bread (be sure to save some in order to sop up that sauce!) I only wish I had the recipe for that sauce! Service, too, is good--attentive, and efficient. And, their Sangria is some of the best I've had, not too sweet, but packs a punch after a couple/few. All 'round experience = YUM! YUM! YUM! read more

I visited for their lunch special. It came with a choice of soup or salad, Main entrée, and family style rice, and Spanish style potatoes. I had the veal extremena; veal, chorizo, and peppers cooked in a brown wine sauce. The size of the salad was one that easily could've been split between 2. As far as the main dish, the veal was extremely tender, with pieces of chorizo and peppers in a wonderful brown sauce which was thankfully chopped up with soft, tender rolls. under $25; how can anyone go wrong? The waiter was attentive, and catered to us. The lunch was wonderful, and I expect to be returning. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for at least 17 years. You would think that when I came into the restaurant, they would show signs of recognition since I have been going there for so long. There have never been any arguments, and I tried to be friendly and greet the staff. My tips have been good more than 20% most times. Tonight, there were only two other tables, and the waiters were nowhere to be found. Most times, I start out with one waiter, and after that, the waiter is nowere to be found, and I end up with several different ones. Apparently, they were all watching a soccer game. The food is good ,but the service and their attitude need to be improved . As far as I am concerned, I should be greeted as a long-time patron of the restaurant, and the wait staff should be present on the floor at all times. read more

They made a ~$45 calculating error in their favor on the handwritten check they gave us. When I pointed this out to the person, he didn't apologize or show any kind of remorse, but he did redo the bill. My family and I have been eating at this restaurant for many many years, and this is the first time we've experienced this. This is completely unacceptable. I can't help but wonder how often customers have been scammed like this. read more

This is a old Staten Island Favorite! The food is great the staff are welcoming . There's a romantic like atmosphere and there is no rushing you in and out. The paella is to die for and they have a full bar. I have visited this restaurant several times it's an ole faithful kinda spot. If you're visiting Staten Island , do check this restaurant out , I think you will be pleased. read more

This restaurant was great! Food and service were good, but I thought the way they served the paella was a bit strange (not in a good way). It was delicious nonetheless, but having the rice/ pasta separate from the seafood and the sauce was a loss because the rice wasn't able to soak up all the flavor from the seafood and sauce!!! I feel like that's a lost opportunity. Also, the desserts aren't fresh even though they still tasted good. read more

Loved this place food was delicious and well priced. Service was great and restaurant was clean. Lobster steak and soups were delicious.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!!! Ordered lunch special takeout for me & my Grandmother. Real Madrid went above & beyond packing my order and being very cautious with everything. They have a big pick up table right in front. The food was delicious with every bite and made it feel like we brought the restaurant right home with us. Really enjoyed our meal, especially the green sangria (Our favorite)!!! We ordered the filet of sole, veal extremena, which came with their homemade chips, escarole soup, rice & bread. So, so good!!! 100% recommend read more
