Steamed lobster and fried potatoes
Maria B.

Came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday and the atmosphere was nice and the waitstaff were friendly. We had the party menu and I ordered the lobster and my sister ordered the shrimp ajillo and they were very good. I would definitely come back here when I'm in the area.

Family style sides but orders were individually served. Rice was soooo good.

Delicious food, excellent service, friendly ambiance. Took inlaws out for birthday dinner in January 2025 and had a great time. We had a pitcher of red sangria. For apps we had fried calamari and shrimp in garlic sauce. For dinner, lobster, steak, salmon, and a seafood bowl. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The rest of the diners sang along when the wait staff sang happy birthday and wished her happy birthday on our way out. It's dress casual spot with fine dining. Good portion sizes. We took leftovers home.

So I have been contemplating writing a review but I feel like it is necessary for anyone looking to go. Sorry in advance for the long post. My husband is from Spain and when I saw this I thought this could give him a taste of home. I called and asked if the food was authentic and I was assured it was. I am glad I read some of the instructions because the parking was hard to find. It was around a building. Fast forward, it is his 40th birthday and I take him and his friends to this restaurant. There were a few Spanish decorations accompanied by some Italian ones as well. There were not many people in the restaurant which should have been my first clue. We got a sampler platter. It all tasted frozen and there were items on it that were French, not Spanish. The chorizo was also not Spanish chorizo. At that time I was a little disappointed but they had paella options and I was excited about it. Everyone ordered different types of paella. The paella was just ok to say the least and all the seafood didn't taste fresh at all!! Now I was extremely disappointed. I paid a decent amount of money to take him and his friends out and it wasn't what I was expecting and wasn't even that good. The only reason for the 2 stars instead of one is because the wait staff was fantastic. They were all very happy and pleasant and willing to help.

First time coming here tonight to celebrate a family member's birthday (party of 4). I thought the food was ok because it didn't really taste like Spain. Seems more like a fusion in their dishes. Service was good and polite. The atmosphere was old with some Spain decor. The one thing was not mentioned to us was the credit card surcharge of 3% when paying with a card. This wasn't listed on their website, menu or by the waiters and waitress. I only found out after they have ran my card. Also, the receipts are all hand written so check carefully to make sure everything is correct amount.

Excellent food. Large portions. Great paella, lobster, gambas al ajillo & sangria. Never disappoints. A staple on Staten Island's north shore.

I was so happy hahah. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a restaurant for more than just their food. We came here for my boyfriend's parent's anniversary and the server's were wonderful and honestly very thoughtful as well! They were very attentive to our table and refilled our waters often. I also say this because when my bf's parents ordered the halibut to split, they had brought out their meal in two individual plates that were beautifully plated, you would think they ordered separately! They also took our group picture! :) We ordered 2 orders of the Basement Snacks: For Two, 2 orders of their raw oysters for appetizers. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara Rossa with a side of Asparagus. Everything was so good. Their buffalo wings were perfectly marinated and not too saucy, their ribs were so tender and the meat fell straight off the bone! My carbonara was also delicious. For dessert they even gave an anniversary treat which was so sweet. I ordered a Chocolate Cappuccino which was also great. 11/10! Wonderful and would recommend.

We started with drinks and some lite breakfast fare all of which tasted good. I went with the crab cake eggs Benedict with wasabi hollandaise sauce which was full of flavor. What looked like 2 slabs of brioche made into French toast with a berry topping and maple syrup was also just as good. 10/10. The service here was very polite and attentive to all of our needs throughout our visit. I would definitely like to come here again. Eat here!

Very nice aesthetic. .The door man Keith was very warm and welcoming Our server was Santiago, he was knowledgeable about the menu, so professional and personable. The other staff members were also very nice. The manager stopped by to check on us. Now the food! Let's start with the offering of fresh sliced fruit for our sparkling water! Cucumber, lime, lemon, orange and strawberry. Do cool! For the appetizer we had the pork belly bao buns, lamb chops and fried calamari. For the entree we ordered the Chilean sea bass, the Salmon and Halibut, all were prepared perfectly. For the cocktails we had the Smokey blue sky and the blackberry flutterby delicious! Finally for dessert we had the warm chocolate cake, the pistachio cannoli and strawberry mandarin almond cake. Everything was fantastic.

I got a Sazerac with cognac, I usually get that but this time they didn't have Pierre Ferran for they only had Ansac. I personally don't care for Ansac so I believe it totally changed the taste of the drink. The bartender could tell. I didn't like it and he asked me about four times " Are you sure I change it? It doesn't matter." I'm like if you're gonna ask me that many times then let's change it. So I got a sidecar and that was fire.

We opted to sit in the more quiet and intimate dining area, which had a nice fire place and beautiful Christmas decor to give off a warm family vibe. Our waitress, Jessica, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful first dining experience at The LocaL, where she addressed our minor concerns and socialized with us in a welcomed and extremely friendly manner; Jessica is reflective of what exemplary service looks like and she definitely helped enhance our overall dining experience! Now onto the food: the is by far one of the most affordable restaurants I've been to in Staten Island, where the portion and quality for the price is definitely worth it. The French onion soup and Picasso burger were both phenomenal and I can't recommend it enough! The zucchini fries were humongous for the price (as you can see in the photo) and totally filling! A minor issue we encountered were that the price from the menu mismatched the price on our receipt, a few days were either a dollar or two less or a dollar or two more, so check your bill! Will definitely come back to try their extensive menu for I'm sure there are still so much more deliciousness to be discovered here! Thank you again to Jessica for being so friendly and kind, hope to see you again soon! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Seating is limited, so patience is part of the experience. We did have fun at the bar while waiting. They had a more limited top-shelf liquor selection than expected, no Don Julio and no Disarrono Amaretto but the Fortaleza tequila was excellent and definitely worth ordering. Very clean tasting. When we finally sat, a few things on the menu stood out more than others. The bread service was good, though the "butter" felt more like a roux-style spread than a traditional butter and I wasn't a fan. The double baked potato was an absolute must-have...rich, flavorful, and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. The porterhouse, while cooked perfect, fell a little flat for me and didn't quite have the wow factor I expected but one could say that's how a steak is supposed to be- well cooked and the cut as the flavorful star. Nevertheless it was delicious. Overall, great atmosphere, solid experience, and that double baked potato alone is worth coming back for!

The coffee was served alongside dessert, it was rich and the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful meal. While the Filet Mignon was a popular and well loved choice among our group, and the Meatballs were universally raved about for being truly excellent, the real showstopper for me was the Chicken Parmesan. I don't typically order steak, so I was delighted by this choice. The cutlet was impressively sized yet elegantly thin, showcasing the high quality of the chicken. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, which was such a comforting and delicious pairing. It did remind me of visiting Germany believe it or not like a schnitzel style cutlet but still very italian if that makes any sense.
