My go-to grocery store for both perishable & non-perishable items after my visit to H&W Produce. I typically find what I need and pricing there is better than some other grocery stores. I usually get my proteins (chicken, fish, some meat snacks, hummus, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt) among other things and non-food items (like lady stuff). My check out experience is 50/50 - either cashier or self-checkout is good As for parking, there's always spots towards the exit (across the lot). read more

This is my most favourite superstore in Edmonton! It's central and easy for me to go to and also their products are always good (better than other locations) The store manager is most of the time on the floor helping the staff or customers and he always has a smile! The manager of meat section is always working on the flow and helping everyone too! Those are some reason that I like this store better! Usually I don't see any manager on the floor in other stores! When I need to go to a superstore, this location is my favourite and I recommend it! :) read more

I have been shopping here on and off for awhile and surprised I never reviewed it.. so here goes. First impression, this store is so well lit and bright. There are always carts and baskets well stocked in the front so you never have to bother walking around getting one ( One of my pet peeves when shopping ). The produce department is huge and the fruits and veggies look great and fresh. Most times the smell of fresh produce lures you to buy some. Overall this store is so well stocked it is rare to see anything out of stock. Now the deals are there .. you just have to look for them. Coupons are when you walk in .. on the wall ..so look to see if there's one for you . What I do in the meat department is look for anything that has that 30 percent off sticker. I will buy those and then use a vaccum sealer to keep it fresh for longer. Those are the best deals around to look for. There's a fresh sushi bar as well Now a lot of people do not like self checkout I do most times.. if I'm in a hurry. I suggest bringing your own bags ..saves you a dime or two. read more

As much as I'm unimpressed by Walmart in the US, I'm pleased with the Real Canadian Superstore - perhaps it's the proud calling out of AAA Western Canadian beef, or the milk from Canadian cows, or the many items festooned with maple leaf logo, there's something that I find charming. I found the butchers knowledgeable and funny, happy to talk about meat. Frequently the prices beat all others but keep an eye out for un-deals. read more

A-Ok Superstore. Average selection options and size for a Superstore. This location is just off Calgary Trail/Gateway Blvd. and the Whitemud. Staples at Superstore for my family: Joe fresh clothing, PC Green Brand clumping cat litter (super lightweight and pine tree fresh), and Schneider's Pepperettes Pepperoni (usually $1-$2 cheaper a package here than Walmart!). Superstore has recently combined points programs with Shoppers Drug Mart. So you can earn 20X the points at Shoppers on their weekend specials - and as long as you sale or coupon shop, you can still get a good deal at Shoppers and then come here and redeem your points for free groceries. Been here at least a couple dozen times and I'm sure I'll be here again soon. read more

They advertise that they price match, yet every time I try to price match, they find a reason why they won't. Today it was because the Safeway flyer had AA roasts, and they said theirs are AAA, even though it was not labelled anywhere. I call BS. They lost me as a customer. I have been going to this Superstore for a very long time. Back in the day I shopped there exclusively for canned, packaged and prepared foods. Their vegetables section was not very good. Now though they have improved quite a lot across the board. Their produce now is quite good and I like that they often have some items that are hard to find at other stores. This place can be quite hectic on weekends and after work. I am fortunate that I can often find time during the weekday for a shopping run if I need it. If you can find an "off" time to do your shopping here you will have a much better experience. One thing they have vastly improved on is that they have a lot of cashiers on during their busy periods. If you have PC Financial account or MasterCard you can fill up at the gas bar and get 7 cents/litre back in grocery coupons! It's a pretty good deal if you are going to shop there afterwards. They have recently done a renovation of the interior and it does look much better and more inviting. I haven't been to many other Superstore's to compare but I do like this new look. read more

I love superstore! It's a great place to get groceries. It's cheap and they have everything! The only thing you might want to get elsewhere is produce, if you're picky that is. Their produce isn't the best but it's good enough. I had to return a shirt I bought there from the Joe clothing line they have and I had no trouble doing it. The customer service people were great, didn't ask questions, just did what I asked. They were both super friendly too. This is also a great place to look for cheaper clothes and shoes/boots in my opinion. They aren't the best out there but they aren't bad! I love shopping at Superstore! It saves me money! read more

My new favourite hobby is grocery shopping. I'm addicted to Superstore. I have been a Save-On-Foods diehard but went to Superstore to check out some stuff a few weeks ago. Since then, all of my grocery trips have been to here. I see a lot of reviews talking about how crazy busy it is, especially on weekends, but I go every Monday night like clockwork and don't struggle too bad. They're open until 11 and it's quite quiet from 8 until they close. They have everything here. Like I mean everything. Huge selection of ethnic foods as well, so if you're looking for something that you can't normally find at a grocery store and don't feel like going to T&T or a specialty store you might find it here. I'd never seen durian until I started shopping at Superstore. Their produce selection is big will a considerable amount of organics. For the most part everything is pretty fresh, I haven't had any issues with bad produce. Prices are insanely low compared to some other grocery stores. They always have deals and bulk stuff so you can scrape your pennies together and save that sweet cash money for other important things. They also carry ACE Bakery breads here which I absolutely love. They have a very large selection of things, and they've got lots of their own PC brand stuff too. They have a considerably large cosmetics section with things you can't normally find at most drug stores (Wet and Wild, Milani) and of course there is a ton of Joe Fresh stuff which is cool. Thanks Superstore for saving me tons of money! I hate that you need a loonie for a shopping cart, but I'll give you a 5 star review anyway. read more

Good looking produce and an excellent variety of foods including ethnic aisles. If your into points get the points card. I get free groceries ($200) once a year. I bought a lotto max ticket from the lottery station. I payed on a debit card and they informed me that it's a 10 cent fee... The amount of money is not a problem, but the fact that I am charged extra in order to buy something is baffling to me. read more

So I'm not one to normally give bad reviews, and I have loved shopping at superstore my entire life, but this one in particular is probably the worst grocery store I have ever been into. I've been giving them a chance for 3 months now, since it is so close to my home, but I will start going out of my way to go somewhere else. The worst part is the customer service at the tills. I can get over the fact that I've never went there once and gotten fresh produce, or seen fully stocked shelves, but when I meet someone who is working and they don't smile, don't even greet me, or say thank you as I'm leaving, it really bugs me. And this has happened every single time I'm there. The Customer service counter is alright, as well as the guys working in the aisle, but that is it. Anyone looking for a good deal on groceries, that genuinely cares about good friendly customer service, go to save on foods. Every one I've shopped at all around Alberta has been number 1, and if you pay attention, the prices are just as good and the quality is always 100%! read more

I'm not sure if the low low prices of superstore are worth my sanity. Every time I go here, I am so overwhelmed with the crowds that I have come close to having an anxiety attack! The staff are not very helpful and the place gets so crowded and loud that you begin to feel as if you are in a race to get the last bag of frozen fruit or the last bag of bread. It just isn't cool. The few things I DO like about superstore are the prices and the clothing they sell. The clothing is actually really trendy and is super cheap. You can find a nice sweater, work out gear, shoes and PJ's for decent prices. Even their work attire is reasonably priced and is super cute. If you are doing a big shop, this is the place to go... if you have patience and you don't suffer from clausterphobia. read more

If there was a Superstore closer to my apartment, I would likely do almost all my grocery shopping there. Their prices are lower in general than most other major grocery stores around town. I also really like their clothing line. Basic stuff, but cheap, and way better quality than you get for the same price at places like Old Navy. Their housewares section is good too... no Ikea, but still decent. It can get pretty hectic on weekends, but I usually do my shopping at weird times of day, so it doesn't bother me too much. Also, their produce is sometimes lacking. The range of product is great, but sometimes the stock is low or kind of sketchy looking. read more

Perhaps I visited on a bad day, but this store pales in comparison to all of the others I've visited. Here's why: a) They were out of the 1 liter jugs of maple syrup that are a Superstore staple b) Perhaps I'm blind, but I couldn't find their "veggie chicken" strips c) They seemed to be out of stock of lots of other random things d) The place was a complete zoo - even moreso than a standard superstore. I should also add that this was on a Sunday afternoon, which is potentially the worst time ever to shop at a Superstore. Superstore is a place I go to at least twice a month or whenever I get off the organic wagon out of spending guilt! Talking about organic, It's worth mentioning this very crucial thing about Superstore: the organic section albeit very small and limited, is cheaper across the board than Planet Organic. The main attraction of superstore is the produce section, if you ask me. They have a wide range of vegetables and fruits. Literally all kinds of well known cheeses (sometimes available only in bulk!), great selection of fresh meat, poultry and fish. It's really got it all! Not to say that they lack in other sections. They've got a really wide range of frozen products and President's Choice (PC) is great when it comes to that. PC's frozen burger patties, thin crust pizzas and appies are my favorite frozen foods. Walking through the aisles, one gets to see some quirky things like an asian/ethnic food aisle which contains nearly all the regular items I would need for Indian cooking, for example. Also, I quite like the fact that they have sufficient variety when it comes to cleaning products, paper towels and other regular house things. Finally, I should make a mention of the kitchen and housewares aisles. They do really have a nice choice of cheap utensils, kitchen electrics etc. I would say their collection reminds of Target, in the US. It's great for short term use (like students) and would be a true go-to place for someone in need of just a once a month use item in their home. Need I say more? oh yes! The liquor store is by far the best liquor store when it comes to cost of alcohol. They have a very decent collection of wines but maybe after a year of going there, one might be ready to move on to a true wine store. Most of the alcohol out here is slightly cheaper than the regular ol' neighborhood liquor store. Try it out! My only complaint is (with all liquor stores really) that they don't sell any finger foods, chips and dip kinda things etc. or olives, if you're planning to host a martini party. Someone should see BevMo in the US and get an idea to do something like that! read more

Their produce is absolutely disgusting. I frequent this store often just due to convenience, but if I want to get produce I always go to Savon foods. The produce of the real Canadian superstore is always expired soggy and gross. I was especially disgusted it just this past weekend when I went to superstore and had to get a couple of Roma tomatoes, and there MOULD all over their tomatoes. The ones that didn't have mould on them or some mushy and gross looking. It's really inconvenient to have to make two different stops for my grocery shopping to get my dairy's meats and non-perishables at superstore and bakery and produce items from save on foods. It's gross. And I went onto their website to see if there was an email that I can email and let them know that I discovered this but of course, there's no customer service link or email or phone number that I could've contacted. Superstore is a large cavernous place where one can find everything from groceries to department store items and that's often the biggest plus of shopping here. Surprisingly this location includes a lot of interesting Asian fare in the Grocery section. I probably want to buy more of these Asian options. There is ample parking and the store has a good amount of variety within. Generally one comes here to shop but not for good customer service. It is important to remember to bring your reuseable shopping bags as they charge for any bags or containers -- this seems more environmentally friendly than some other options, but can be inconvenient if you're not used to it. read more

We had two $100 grocery cards and groceries worth $118.45. So I gave the cards one at a time and the lady scanned each one. I saw her switch cards and believed she gave me the first one which was zeroed out. I mentioned that to her and she politely said SHE had the zeroed out card and scanned it to prove it did in fact had zero balance. Great, I must have the loaded card then. When we used the card in another store the next day, what? Zero balance too? Darn you superstore lady, you stole $80 from me. read more

When I wanna save money and do kind of a 'big shop,' this is where I usually head. Superstore usually tends to have a huge selection and carry every grocery item you might possibly need, including a wonderful selection of ethnic grocery items: lots of Indian, Asian, and Middle-Eastern products to choose from. I'm a huge fan of the President's Choice brand; unlike a lot of store-brand items, PC almost always trumps brand-name in my books. This goes for their macaroni and cheese (not that I buy that stuff, I swear!), their granola bars, their pasta sauces (try the "Memories of _____" series, so tasty), etc, etc. And usually the produce here is great (and cheap!); they carry large bags of organic lemons, young coconuts, and tubs of baby arugula (for a fraction of the price of the shop's downtown competitors). On my most recent visit, there were a few items that didn't get crossed off my shopping list as both Tater Tots or some suitable substitute and perogies were nowhere to be found; same with cherry tomatoes, or any tomato for that matter besides half-green on-the-vine hothouse ones. But who knows, maybe it's just that the size of the shop makes it almost impossible to locate something specific. Finally - and this is something I was extremely stoked to discover this afternoon - Superstore's house clothing brand. I've never really looked at their clothes before, assuming they were geared towards the fashion sense of bingo players and suburban moms, but this afternoon I was shocked to discover that Superstore has tons of really nice clothing. Usually it's impossible to find affordable items that aren't emblazoned all over with some lame brand-name or cheesy silkscreen, but here they are: comfy, solid-coloured v-neck sweaters; argyle v-necks in tasteful colours with the same texture as a Ben Sherman top I recently bought (but for like a tenth of the price!); cute slip-on shoes; nice striped scarves, $5 knee-high cashmere blend socks, pretty sexy ilngerie... and that's just the women's section, never mind the adorable baby clothes and sharp men's items. Not even kidding, on my next Superstore trip, the groceries will just be a sideline. read more

Tired of Being Harassed by Street People Here All the Time. Is there no way that the 51 Avenue & Gateway (104 Str) Superstore can get rid of the large number of bums and panhandlers in the parking lot? For at least the last 2 years now, I hardly step foot outside of the vehicle and I'm harassed by guys (usually the same ones over and over) for money, for my shopping cart etc. Even at night,at the gas bar, I am constantly bugged while gassing up my vehicle. I am too creeped out to go here an night anymore even though this is the closest shopping to my home. I really like some of the staff who have worked here for years and the 50 percent mark downs on some products but I feel really uncomfortable going here sometimes so my visits have become significantly less. read more

I'm here every week for my usual weekly groceries and I don't understand why a lot of people dislike Superstore. I've been told they have terrible produce or not a large enough selection of products, but in fact, I think they have a wide selection. In my opinion, this place is great! It's close by, has great operation hours, and the prices are fantastic. Always has what I'm looking for and compared to Safeway for Save-ons, they carry household items such as bedding, to bathroom necessities, to kitchen appliances. With products from name brand, to no name, to the new presidence choice blue menu, they vary a variety of brands. It's each to they're own, but if you ask me, Superstore is my number one place to go! read more

Very upset. Went shopping and approached by an employee. He asked if I was interested in collecting PC points or had a mastercard. Said I wanted to collect points but did not want a mastercard. He asked for my driver's license, again said I did not want a mastercard. I new something was up. Should not gave him my license. Needless to say I got a mastercard and NO points card. Good enough reason never to shop at a store with such sleazy tactics to meet there quotas. So disgusted. Not activating card. read more

It's never fun trying to shop at this store--it's usually a zoo, with crazed customers and items misplaced or entirely missing. That's forgivable if they have the lowest price on an item, it is in fact in stock, and you can psych yourself up to face the nightmare. However, I cannot forgive their poor customer service when we tried to return bad cheese that we had bought there the day before. They did everything they could to get out of refunding our money, despite evidence right in front of them. It's bad policy to alienate your customers just to save a few dollars. I've been a Superstore regular for years. Despite the craziness I sometimes feel there on Saturday afternoon, it's worth it for the low prices and selection. But today, I felt inspired to write a review because for the first time I used their Click and Collect service. This is one craze-mazing idea! Shop online for everything you need - the search bar is your best friend here - and check out just like you would on any other e-store. Determine your pick up time (they give you a two-hour window). When you arrive at the store pull into one of the designated stalls (on the far west side of the lot), phone the number on the sign and someone will meet you at your car with all of your groceries! There is a $3-5 service fee depending on your preferred pick up time. I would seriously recommend this service for anyone who has trouble getting to the grocery store. The only thing I would mention, I can be a bit particular about the produce and meat I pick out (choosing for freshness and ripeness). The people who collect for you, may not have the same discerning eye. However, for grocery items this service is awesome. I will definitely use again. read more
