So we shopped a couple times at Aspen X back during a multi day visit to Snowmass in March, 2024…read more My wife ended up purchasing a pair of women's softshell ski pants and we each also got a beautiful merino wool skiing base layer. Overall, prices were a bit on the high side, but the quality of items in the store seemed really good. There was also a nice selection of higher end Aspen branded clothing perfect for souvenirs along with some designer items. Where things really impressed us however is that upon laundering my wife's pants for the first time a few weeks later (once we were sure we were done skiing for the year), a zipper pull failed on them in such a way that one of the side pockets was pretty much rendered impossible to use. I reached out to the store via email and they offered me a full refund upon shipping the pants back to them, no questions asked. Yes, we were disappointed the pants failed, but at the same time I greatly appreciate the fact that they stood by the quality of their clothes this way. In this day and age you often are literally just screwed if something like this happens. You cannot go wrong shopping here.

This store doubles as a bike rental. The woman clerk was having a cheerful conversation with a…read morecustomer, and when he left I inquired about rental rates. The woman recoiled like I put a hex on her. Thankfully, the manager stepped in and I was well taken care of. He took time to point out bike route options and sections to avoid. The map was helpful as the trails are very local and not necessarily found on trail sites. If I dealt solely with the manger it would be five stars. First hour is $20 and a few dollars more per hour, or a daily rate option.

We were looking at beer and grabbed some beer from the beer cooler. When we went up to the counter…read moreand was told that we broke the case of beer or maybe 1-2 had broken (mind you that the case was sitting all weird but didn't think much about it as I was grabbing it out). In looking at other things and asking for the pricing (neither the 12 or 24 pack was noted with the sticker price). I found out the price verbally and was willing to pay for it but she took it outside and said it was received that day. I was thinking of getting the 12 pack too as we still wanted some beer, which was brought up by another coworker. The lady behind the counter was frustrated (which I get), but not working with us and we were just sharing when we initially grabbed out the beer how it happened. I was going to pay but she refused to allow me to pay. We were told that we had to ask for them to grab the beer, but I can't help when the bottom shelf was super packed and no room to grab out any of the beers. We weren't allowed to buy anything as it was a combo group of people, even though the coworker said I was fine to pay. Very frustrating as we were trying to make it right but also needing to share the scenario of how it occurred. Sad that this happened and couldn't have been made right.

Fred Groos is hands down the best bootfitter I have ever worked with. My family previously…read morepurchased three pairs of boots from a high-end bootfitting store in the Vail Valley, but I decided to try Sun & Ski--and I am so glad I did. Fred was patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely compassionate. He listened carefully as I explained the pain I've experienced in ski boots for years--even those from expensive specialty shops. For the first time, I truly felt heard and understood. I have skied my entire life, starting at age four, and I had never known skiing without boot pain. Fred took the time to explore multiple solutions and never once rushed me. He genuinely cared about getting it right. Some shops don't seem to take female skiers seriously, but Fred absolutely did. I hadn't even planned to buy boots that day; I was just browsing. But thanks to Fred's expertise, I ended up purchasing the best boots I've ever owned. I literally cried when I skied in them--no pain and no break-in period. I had resigned myself to the idea that I'd need $1,500 custom boots forever, but Fred found the perfect pair for me for just $600, tax included. Because my experience was so incredible, I insisted my husband return the following weekend to buy his boots from Fred as well. Everyone at Sun & Ski is kind, knowledgeable, and treats customers with genuine care--better than I've ever been treated at far "fancier" stores. We will be buying our boots from Sun & Ski for life. Thank you, Fred. We appreciate you more than you know.

I saw a pair of Solomons in my size on the sale rack and they were attached by a zip tie and a locked merchandise key. I asked a bald man who was working there. I'm not sure if he's the manager if he could unlock it and he said no you have to just try on one at a time and see if they work. I immediately left the store because I think this horrible customer service and this guy is an imbecile. I am a customer that lives in the Vail Valley and comes to the store for outerwear and he just lost me as a customer because I wanted to try on a pair of boots!!!???? he said that too many people walk out of there without paying so I have to be inconvenience because sun and ski sports cannot manage their loss prevention. Needless to say, I'll never be back and I'm heading all the way to Glenwood Springs to go to the REI where I have a membership. Don't go to the store. It's horrible.
