What was so impressive to us was the academic ranking nationally among the students, their maturity, self confidence and strong biblical world view. Add to that the personalized attention by every member of the staff and passion for teaching children we see in the Teachers and staff. I believe they are second to none. Both of my boys have excelled at the school and have a maturity and confidence we don't see in many of their peers who attend public schools. This school is worth a visit and once you come to the campus, meet the leadership and see the kids you'll feel good about becoming part of the Stonebridge family.

I went to public school and even substituted in local public schools. This school is night and day different. Stonebridge teaches differently and is very non apologetic about their biblical worldview approach and how they teach Christian Self Government. These are principles that don't and won't get taught in public school. Not only have I been over to ALL of my teacher's homes, I've prayed with them, and they have prayed for me. I've had teachers and parents reach out to me asking for prayer and for help. This doesn't happen in public schools. I also see how the parents are involved in this school. You have to be apart and you are to partner WITH the school to instill these principles into your child life. The school will help with direction, but they desire that you and them partner together to make learning fun and educational. Many parents show up for "special" days at school. I've never seen so much parent involvement and every classroom has a "room parent" where we have been invited over to their house for cookouts. They create facebook forums for us to discuss homework and also prayer requests for the children and faculty. Not only do parents help out in the classroom, but last summer we had a "work day" at the school and countless number of parents showed up to paint and help out around the school. Can you imagine that? Parents who are paying private school tuition willing to show up and WORK at a school for FREE. That's how much parents believe in this place. So We have been at the school for 5 years now and not only that, but I have substituted at ALL grade levels. I can't speak highly enough about the attitude of the kids. I have subbed in public schools and you WILL NOT find students who treat adults the same way. Also the students seem to be very close to each other. They go on trips together from when they are small all the way through their "senior trip". This school has also scored the highest score in the country with their seniors the last 2 years in a row for having a "biblical worldview". My wife and I both work in Greenbrier and were driving back and forth to Stonebridge. We both love the school so much that we decided to sell our house and move down the street from Stonebridge. Stonebridge has become a family away from family. We have invested in it and believe in it. It may not be for everyone and is it perfect? NO....Nothing is. But if you're looking for a solid education that is founded in biblical principles, a place for your child to make meaningful and long lasting relationships in life, a place where teachers really care and parents are involved, a place for you as parents to plug in and make many life long friendships; Then Stonebridge is the place for you.

If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it's who our kids are. As a parent my view of the…read moreschool will differ than that of my kid's. This relationship with Granby started in 2018 when we moved back to the area. Everyone knows that there are other areas that boast about their coveted school system but with each school it has its own set of variables to navigate. The interaction with some school personnel on what I think were typical things were made complicated and drawn out. For example, my kid had enough credits to graduate early but Norfolk Public Schools require Seniors to carry no less than 6 classes. So to our chagrin he was saddled with classes that made him a seat filler. All schools have shenanigans. Parents, that's where you come in. Some of it is shenanigans learned from rule breaking parents with a disregard for authority so at times it trickles down. Happy to say that I had no incidents with my child and school officials. As a matter of fact, shout out to Dr. Byrdsong who personally assisted me with items in the most professional and efficient manner. My kudos to all the teachers who continue to go above and beyond to push students to their full capabilities. Ms. Patton, Ms. Diaz were supportive and genuinely displayed positive attitudes and got things done. In a building that is outdated and confined by budget cuts learning does occur. Here's your Granby fun fact, did you know that the actor Grant Guston (CW's The Flash) attended this school? Yup, you can go on to do great things if you put your mind to it. An overall 3.75 star review due to the age of the building, amenities and communication challenges.

The adults and parents take themselves too seriously and are the kind of adults that peaked in high school and think they have the authority to do and say whatever they want. The teachers love to embarrass students based on learning abilities and make sure nothing stays discreet. The school does absolutely nothing in the way of bullying besides some lousy posters. If you are getting bullied in The Williams school best believe your bully will not get any punishments or long term consequences. The kids there are also horrible and will shun anybody out of their circle who doesn't fit their requirements. Going there feels like an overpriced cult that you can't seem to get out of, and once you do you can't even remember why you went there in the first place.

When she took control of the school she brought along a teacher named Mrs. Pinner. We all hated her. She has a way of teaching that just shows she doesn't know what she is talking about. Once I had to tell her how to do an assignment. I found this absolutely outrageous. I also found that the way they would discipline was not the standard. Students can expect to get in trouble for being too loud on the stairs when really we are just talking. Students can expect to get locked out of a classroom even if your previous teacher let you out late. These two things can be excused as they aren't on a regular basis however the new management is awful. In conclusion Dr. Hedrick and Mrs. Pinner have got to go.

I am disappointed with how this daycare/school handled my child's potty accident…read more I fully understand that we have responsibility as parents to provide extra clothes, and I can acknowledge that we should have had backup clothes available. That part is on us. However, young children have accidents, especially when they are adjusting to a new environment, and I was shocked by how the situation was handled. I received a call telling me that my child had an accident and that I needed to bring shorts or pants because they were currently only in their shirt. I was also told that if I could not bring clothes, my child would remain without pants. That is the part I cannot accept. A childcare facility should still have a basic contingency plan for situations like this. No child should be left exposed, embarrassed, or without proper clothing because there are no backup options available. Even when a parent forgets something, the child's dignity and comfort should remain the priority. What makes this even more concerning is that since starting at this school, my child's confidence and self-esteem seem to have changed. They have started saying things like, "I don't use my listening ears. I never do," and "I'm a bad kid." As a parent, that is heartbreaking to hear. Children should be corrected and redirected with patience and care, not in a way that makes them internalize shame or feel like they are bad. A potty accident should be handled privately, calmly, and respectfully. It should never become something that adds to a child's embarrassment or affects how they see themselves. As a parent, it was incredibly stressful to receive that call and feel like my child's dignity was not being protected. I hope the school reviews its policy on potty accidents, backup clothing, and how children are spoken to when they are struggling or adjusting.

We've been with the school for the past four years now, and I've never regretted it once. My son is in Children's House and my daughter is in Lower Elementary. The teachers are all excellent and have allowed my children to make outstanding academic progress, and the overall atmosphere is warm, caring and family-like. I love how much the children learn without a lot of the negative pressure or homework that other schools seem to have. The atmosphere is also very sweet and my children have never had any kind of issues with other kids there. Overall, we're tremendously happy with the school. It feels like a bit of a hidden gem. Our kids have felt loved, encouraged, and appropriately challenged throughout their time there and have consistently *enjoyed* going to school. As parents we couldn't ask for more than the solid foundation St. Pius offers. We started our oldest (now 7th grader) in the Pre-K program years ago with the intention of determining whether St. Pius might be a good fit for elementary school. She (and the other siblings) haven't wanted to leave since! Our kids appreciate the close-knit community including their teachers and friends. We are a non-Catholic family (Protestant) and have always felt welcome. As our 3 oldest kids are now part of the amazing athletics program, our love for St. Pius has grown tremendously. Any child in grades 3-8 has the opportunity to participate in team sports and additional activities which significantly enhances their overall experience. Regarding academics, St. Pius is remarkably appropriate for any level student. We've watched Pius grads go to colleges such as the U.S. Naval Academy, Duke, etc. It would be equally beneficial for the student wanting to pursue trade school after high school graduation. St. Pius X is a local gem. We could send our kids to any private school in Hampton Roads and choose this school for the diverse student population it serves and the supportive and friendly environment it offers.
