What was so impressive to us was the academic ranking nationally among the students, their maturity, self confidence and strong biblical world view. Add to that the personalized attention by every member of the staff and passion for teaching children we see in the Teachers and staff. I believe they are second to none. Both of my boys have excelled at the school and have a maturity and confidence we don't see in many of their peers who attend public schools. This school is worth a visit and once you come to the campus, meet the leadership and see the kids you'll feel good about becoming part of the Stonebridge family.

I went to public school and even substituted in local public schools. This school is night and day different. Stonebridge teaches differently and is very non apologetic about their biblical worldview approach and how they teach Christian Self Government. These are principles that don't and won't get taught in public school. Not only have I been over to ALL of my teacher's homes, I've prayed with them, and they have prayed for me. I've had teachers and parents reach out to me asking for prayer and for help. This doesn't happen in public schools. I also see how the parents are involved in this school. You have to be apart and you are to partner WITH the school to instill these principles into your child life. The school will help with direction, but they desire that you and them partner together to make learning fun and educational. Many parents show up for "special" days at school. I've never seen so much parent involvement and every classroom has a "room parent" where we have been invited over to their house for cookouts. They create facebook forums for us to discuss homework and also prayer requests for the children and faculty. Not only do parents help out in the classroom, but last summer we had a "work day" at the school and countless number of parents showed up to paint and help out around the school. Can you imagine that? Parents who are paying private school tuition willing to show up and WORK at a school for FREE. That's how much parents believe in this place. So We have been at the school for 5 years now and not only that, but I have substituted at ALL grade levels. I can't speak highly enough about the attitude of the kids. I have subbed in public schools and you WILL NOT find students who treat adults the same way. Also the students seem to be very close to each other. They go on trips together from when they are small all the way through their "senior trip". This school has also scored the highest score in the country with their seniors the last 2 years in a row for having a "biblical worldview". My wife and I both work in Greenbrier and were driving back and forth to Stonebridge. We both love the school so much that we decided to sell our house and move down the street from Stonebridge. Stonebridge has become a family away from family. We have invested in it and believe in it. It may not be for everyone and is it perfect? NO....Nothing is. But if you're looking for a solid education that is founded in biblical principles, a place for your child to make meaningful and long lasting relationships in life, a place where teachers really care and parents are involved, a place for you as parents to plug in and make many life long friendships; Then Stonebridge is the place for you.

I am disappointed with how this daycare/school handled my child's potty accident…read more I fully understand that we have responsibility as parents to provide extra clothes, and I can acknowledge that we should have had backup clothes available. That part is on us. However, young children have accidents, especially when they are adjusting to a new environment, and I was shocked by how the situation was handled. I received a call telling me that my child had an accident and that I needed to bring shorts or pants because they were currently only in their shirt. I was also told that if I could not bring clothes, my child would remain without pants. That is the part I cannot accept. A childcare facility should still have a basic contingency plan for situations like this. No child should be left exposed, embarrassed, or without proper clothing because there are no backup options available. Even when a parent forgets something, the child's dignity and comfort should remain the priority. What makes this even more concerning is that since starting at this school, my child's confidence and self-esteem seem to have changed. They have started saying things like, "I don't use my listening ears. I never do," and "I'm a bad kid." As a parent, that is heartbreaking to hear. Children should be corrected and redirected with patience and care, not in a way that makes them internalize shame or feel like they are bad. A potty accident should be handled privately, calmly, and respectfully. It should never become something that adds to a child's embarrassment or affects how they see themselves. As a parent, it was incredibly stressful to receive that call and feel like my child's dignity was not being protected. I hope the school reviews its policy on potty accidents, backup clothing, and how children are spoken to when they are struggling or adjusting.

I doubt a yelp review will help turn the tide for you. But in case it does, the administrators and teachers here at the school really are personally invested, and really do feel the weight of responsibility to do the very best thing for your child. One of my children has attended several years ago, although we normally homeschool. It was definitely a positive experience. I know several of the teachers at the school, they are not there because it's making them wealthy, they are there because they genuinely feel called to work with smaller classes, to get to know their students, and to have a meaningful experience in the classroom.

The school does not uphold to their "Christian standards" when it comes to behind the scenes. Very homophobic and not understanding or compassionate when it comes to mental health. I did at the school for 12 years and have seen too many situation handled extremely poorly and I am truly disappointed and disgusted by the things that they PICK AND CHOOSE to allow... I would absolutely consider their school to have an emotionally abusive environment. This school has deleted my review on their Facebook page. Seems they don't like negative feedback

Quick facts: Warm and comfortable environment, art based and big on donating around the holidays/…read moreas well as consignment sales, affordable and 3 hours a day (9am-12.) As a mother who had never been separated from her 2.5yr old I thought I would be a teary-eyed mess on the first day of school, but my daughters teachers (Miss Emma and Miss Natalie) took away all of my fears! I've trust them with my daughter and watched her flourish from my sweet baby into a confident 3 year old "big girl." We started out at 3 day's a week just to get a feel for the routine and quickly signed up for 5 day's after Christmas break. The adjustments was flawless and my daughter never stops talking about the fun they have on the private gated playground behind the school, fun painting and art activities (we have quite the art collection now,) and all her new friends! We will be enrolling in GUMP again next year as well as adding my youngest (soon to be 1yr old) into the mix. They offer 2, 3 and 5 day's a week for 3 hours a day (9am to 12) and also offer breakfast bunch (where you can drop your child off an hour early to play before school) or lunch bunch (an hour after school where the kids play and eat lunch,) both lunch bunch and breakfast bunch are $6 each and worth it if you have a particularly long errand to run. Children don't have to be potty trained, just make sure you bring enough diapers for the week. My daughter started out not fully potty trained but after using the little potty at school decided she was ready! Lastly, I sincerely can't say enough good things about how the entire staff and especially the director Miss Ann have treated my family and I. Although we are not religious and have never attended the Methodist church adjacent to the preschool, I have never once felt any pressure to attend services or like there has ever be any judgement. Give GUMP a try and hopefully this was helpful to any parent looking for a wonderful place to send their child.
