Mikes Electric - Electrician in Wiregrass Alabama

Mikes Electric

Quality: I've been…read moredealing with an electric problem at my house that appears to be dangerous, and my power to certain circuits is going in and out and making noises, and I've had them out twice to "investigate" the issue. They haven't done anything that I would deem worthy of the term "investigating" other than taking off a few switch covers and saying,"everything looks fine". (It's not). I've made videos of the flickering and noise, and have requested that they actually look at a panel or something. I'm not pleased. Responsiveness: It's impossible to get them to call you back when they tell you that they will, and at this point I'm not calling again. They were supposed to be calling the electric company for me, and after two weeks of waiting, I decided to call the power company, which they said mike's service never called them. No surprise. Conclusion and next steps: I didn't want to pay Vinson Electric to do the job because their rates are a little higher, but if I can get the job done before my house burns down, it's worth the safety of my family.

Called Mike to get some outdoor lighting installed. He came the very next day...GREAT! He told me…read morewhat needed to be done and that he had to get to the office to check his schedule and would get back to me the next day...again GREAT. Next day came and no phone call. I gave it a couple more days and called him, said he was at work (a different job than electrical) and that he would have to check his schedule and get back to me...okay. Never got back to me again. Gave it a couple more weeks and one more time reached out to him. Said he had to visit a sick family member and would get back to me. No problem, family always comes first. More time went by, and I reached out to Mike two more times. Told him I would still like for him to do the job . He didn't have the common courtesy to tell me either way, just decided to ignore my text messages from there on... Totally unprofessional Would not recommend at all!

I just moved into my new home and my dryer plug was not correct for my wall socket plug-in. I…read morecalled on Wednesday and they came out Thursday and fixed it quickly. I recommend this company whole-heartily. Efficient and not expensive.

Beware of this company. I called and got a hourly quote for service at $60 an hour (no min fee,…read morejust hourly). The guys that came were nice enough and had my problem fixed in less than 15 mins. The replaced a breaker in my circuit box and found a GFI I didnt know I had tripped. After a few weeks I got a bill in the mail for $85. Called the company and long story short they admitted that they had overcharged because the service guys had logged the time wrong on my job. They use a computer system with gps to track their workers. To add to this the guy I spoke to named Mike told me that regardless of time a service call was $60 plus the hourly rate. After going back and forth with Mike he told me they would recalc my bill and train the receptionist to inform future customers correctly regarding fees. Another 3 weeks go by and I get another bill...for $85 (the same amount they already admitted was wrong). This time I spoke to a guy named Lonnie who then told me the fee was $65 an hour and the extra $20 was for the breaker (an $8 part from Lowes). On top of this he told me it was standard practice to charge clients based on the time it took their workers to get from one job to the next. This means you're paying the bill before they ever get to your jobsite whether thats 5 mins or 2 hours. I told Lonnie that was the most crooked thing I had heard in a long time regarding running a business. When I told Lonnie about the conversations Mike and I had already had, Lonnie responded that Mike had thrown them (Diamond Electric) under the bus and he was done talking to me. I ended up having to go to the owner of the company and talk to him regarding the entire situation. By the time I was done he told me to name my price and leave. Great way to run a business?!?! Needless to say I will not be using these guys again...and I recommend you don't either.
