Updating my review as I've been swimming with the masters swim team here now for ~2 years…read more I just have to commend the Health & Fitness Center for their upkeep of the facility. They're ALWAYS making improvements - whether it's adding it in a brand new cafe, or swapping out all the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers and just keeping the place really clean - especially the pool! While they don't have digital sign up (I have to call and share my credit card information over the phone or just go in person....), they clearly do invest in their facilities and these details don't go unnoticed! Lastly, the staff is always so helpful and friendly here - even early morning at 5am!

If you ask to work in for a set, they act shocked and can get confrontational. If the gym is going to keep signing-in this many people, it needs to do more to manage sharing and access--whether that's a brief orientation about machine etiquette, more active floor supervision, or even rethinking the layout (e.g., fewer treadmills and more of the strength machines that constantly get monopolized).

Tried them out with a new client 2 class pack special! My first visit was this weekend and I took…read morethe Starter50: Introduction to SolidCore class. It was a great experience! Checking in was easy, and for my first time, it was so helpful to get a quick overview of the equipment and get full explanations and demos of the sets of exercises we were going to tackle. It was nice knowing what to expect ahead, and a good rotation through core, legs/glutes, obliques, and upper body. Lots of first or second timers and this class and I felt supported/guided. Instructor was walking around giving feedback, and asked ahead of time on permission for light touch corrections. It was a great pilates/strength training type workout! Adaptable to different experience and fitness levels. I'm definitely still sore two days out. I think most of the workout could be replicated at home with weights, bands, and sliders, but it's very fun to use the fancy reformer machine and be guided through / not have to plan or program a really effective workout.

I've taken ~60 or so solidcore classes at this point in three different states at 5 different…read morestudios, so I've been able to experience a lot of variation in the classes offered. Overall solidcore is my favorite workout I've ever tried and I'm totally a super fan for life. Unfortunately this wasn't my favorite studio. Pros: 1. Instructor was phenomenal (I took class with Jane S) - she offered a lot of versatility in the class, offered plenty of modifications and amplifications, and clearly knew what she was doing. Gave shoutouts to individuals within the class which I always really like. Probably one of the best solidcore instructors I've taken class with 2. The class itself is awesome as mentioned above. I'm just totally obsessed with solidcore - can't recommend it enough for someone looking for a challenging but high-energy full body strength class. Cons: 1. The reformers at this studio needed a major facelift. They were rusty, the rubber covering the strings was falling off, and I think they have smaller platforms than the standard sweatlana (although that may have been my imagination). I'm not sure if they were just really old or maybe purchased from another studio secondhand or something but they were soooo bad compared to the quality that I'm used to at solidcore 2. No lockers in this studio (just bins) which is obviously a risk for theft, etc. not the end of the world but I feel like having lockers is a pretty baseline request All in all, I don't live in Michigan full time so I likely won't be back anyway, but if I did live in the area I'd return as I just absolutely love the workout. Studio just needs some TLC

I was super excited to learn about Core Sport Pilates Fitness during Workout Wednesdays in DTP! My…read morego to place before Core Sports was Club Pilates in Los Angeles. Prior to Workout Wednesday, I was on a search to find a reformer class so I decided to sign up for the intro package. The intro package is the way to go! If you have done Pilates before, this is still the way to go. I tried a private class, multiple semi-private classes, and multiple group classes. The equipment is awesome! They have reformers, towers, and more! Game changer. The classes are small. At Club Pilates I was in a class of 10 versus 4 - 2 people. You get personalized attention to correct your form. I tried so many classes and different instructors to see what I like and who I like. Really.... I love all of it! From the group tower classes to the personalized attention I get in the semi-privates, I decided this was the studio for me. The are a handful of options when it comes to classes per month. There is a monthly option that comes with X classes depending on the level you sign up for. You can also purchase classes in a 10 pack. This applies to semi-private and group classes. That's what I went with since there is more flexibility. The 10 packs expire in 1 year. I'll be using them up a lot sooner and it gives you a discounted price compared to the drop in rate.
