Aries Pilates saved my golf game and my back.
I am an avid golfer, by avid I mean I hit the links at least 100 times a year in Michigan, I'm a scratch golfer, and take a few golf trips every year to warm locales during the long, bitter, cold months for which the Mitten state is well known.
I'm not a fat guy. I'm slim, athletic, and have always been in fairly good shape but age has started creeping up on me. I'm in my 40's now and have had some recurring back problems over the past couple years.
The summer of 2013 I was only able to play 3 rounds of golf due to back issues. This was not acceptable. I had to be able to golf again. I was also not happy that I had lost some distance off of the tee but chalked it up to aging and looked at it as a reason to get a new set of sticks.
A friend of mine referred me to Aries Pilates. I wasn't sure about pilates at first as I thought it was more of a chick thing, like yoga. In doing my research I discovered a number of golfers and pro athletes practice Pilates to help improve their game. I figured, if pro athletes use this, why can't I? I jumped in.
Lisa was a miracle worker. I trained a few times a week with her over the 2013-2014 polar vortex winter and continued to train with her once the weather finally warmed up. My back no longer hurts, I played over 100 rounds this past season, and I'm hitting the ball as far as I did when I was 18. I have better flexibility now than I have in years and I plan on being a client for years.
Now I just need an excuse to buy a new set of sticks... read more
