Full disclosure - The Wagon Wheel Steakhouse is owned and operated by a high school friend so you…read moremay think my review could be biased. But as a Yelp Elite, I need to keep it real. And Wagon Wheel is definitely real. Anyone that knows me is aware that I'm a comfort food aficionado. If it's hot, fried, salty, covered in gravy - then most likely I will enjoy it. My tastebuds were thrilled to discover that Wagon Wheel Steakhouse serves the mother lode of comfort food. The first thing you'll notice when you see the servers carrying plates past your table to deliver to other customers is that everything, and I mean virtually everything, is made in house. The regular fries and the curly cue fries are fresh cut. They offer crinkle cut fries too like you can get in some fast food restaurants, but why would you order that when you can get fresh cut? The chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, the pork tenderloins are all hand breaded and fried in the kitchen. Wagon Wheel doesn't serve pre-cut and pre-fried fritters, no sir. As you can see in my picture, my pork tenderloin sandwich was twice the size of the bun, so I cut it in half and took the rest home to eat later - this made my dinner both tasty and cheap as I received two meals for the price of one. There is a small but sufficient fresh salad bar available as well as homemade pie for dessert. A full bar is to the right of the entrance and there are new flat screen TVs all around the dining room. A friend told me Wagon Wheel serves her favorite fried mushrooms and others told me their hamburgers are some of the best around - I can't wait to return and try these, as well as their steaks. When you visit, say hello to my friend the owner Linda Jo. Although she may not be easy to find as she personally spends a great deal of time in the kitchen cooking the food herself. I think you'll agree, her hands-on approach makes the difference at Wagon Wheel.

As a general rule, I stay away from crowded areas like the Plaza and Westport, but I really wanted…read moreto try this place out. As luck would have it, I had to run an errand near the area and my decision was made. First off, the entrance isn't where you'd think it would be. The order window was closed and I noticed people going up to the deck to get in, so up I headed. The place was actually spacious and comfortable, it has a Caribbean vibe to it. After much consternation, I figured I'd make it tough on them and opted for the Reuben. As some somebody who has had many Reubens at the place where they were invented, Omaha's Blackstone Hotel, I can be a tough judge. This is definitely the best place to get one in KC, so I know that I'll be back for more. I even liked the bread that they used, it set it apart from other sammiches. And the service was great, so I'll be back.

The wait even too so long I got a extra cookie to help with the longer times. It was awesome! Entering the space on weekday is preferable for those who do not want to have a lot of noise when eating dinner. On saturday during peak lunch the spot can get pretty busy but somehow never packed. They even have a fun merch corner if you fee like reppin som delicious dough. Will return soon if not atleast a couple times before the end of the summer.

OMG. This is a small town tavern serving so pretty good BBQ. I'd heard about it from a friend and…read moresaid their pork ribs are outstanding and they run out. So for me I'm not a rib person I savored their other meats. I had the brisket and polish sausage. I found it interesting how they sliced it (really thin) but for me I got a good taste of the flavor I felt and don't worry they didn't skip on the portions. I got the regular 2 meat sandwich with no bread. They have their own sauce which has a great taste as well. I tried their spicy pickles and I did enjoy it. I would like to see them take their own sauce as I enjoyed the clover and add some kick to it lol. The lady who waited on me was extremely friendly and knew I was not from there and explained everything. It is a small town tavern in the middle of the town Williamsburg nice peaceful and you feel at home. They were not busy when I got there but by the time I left I felt it was standing room only. NOTE!!!!!!!! They are CASH orCHECK only so be prepared. It's worth it just about 20 minutes south of KC

I wouldn't say G&M is divey, but divey adjacent. Beers are cheap, and the food is delicious. I ordered a slab of ribs, so I would have some to take home. They had a great bark, delicious flavor, and were literally fall off the bone. They didn't require sauce, which is good, as the only sauce at G&M's was a bit sweet for my taste. Don't pass up the Jalapeño Pickles! I had the potato salad and beans, both I thought leaned sweet as well, however, the Jalapeño Pickles may have thrown off my taste buds. Pay attention on your way back to the highway, because if you stay on the main road, you will be headed in the opposite direction.
