I live in a Peter Biber of The Biber Partnership designed and built home and can unequivocally…read morestate it is by far the worst built home I have ever lived in, or owned. The list of issues with this home are long - but it runs the gamut from minor flaws in basic design - if I shower and want to go to my closet to get dressed (something I'm assuming most people do) anyone at my front door could see; to really big problems like one floor of the house is about a 10 degree difference than the other floor. The HVAC company said "the design didn't take into account all the windows and there simply aren't enough vents on that floor to heat or cool that floor properly", and terrible sound insulation. If someone is downstairs and I walk across the floor above, the person downstairs feels like I might come crashing through the ceiling (I weigh about 115 pounds). I've asked for them to make sure there is sound insulation. They accidentally sent me the sound proofing plans - and there's a discrepancy between what they think they put it (if it was installed at all), and the product they circled as the product they were using. I asked about it. No one will get back to me. I was told that everything is up to code (which if it is, doesn't mean it's built well), and ask that they check and make sure anything at all was installed, to no avail. When I met with Peter in person and pointed out the issues, he was dismissive and spent more time telling me about his uber-wealthy clients and how his attorneys are his friends and don't really charge him, than figuring out how to fix the issues (I'm guessing this was so I would be intimidated and choose not to sue him?). I was promised it was "being taken seriously" and then the whole firm disappeared. I could do this all day... My other half has his own list of grievances with the flawed design and build. Bottom line, there must be better architects in central New Jersey - save yourself the heartache and pick one of those.
