    Thanks fellow Yelpers for the lead on RD. When our dryer started punching holes in our clothes, and then a cloth ring fell off into the drum, we started looking for a repair service. On the first visit, the tech found the piece was a gasket, and called Samsung to ask about the part. Bad news for us (and typical of Samsung in our experience), the gasket wasn't a separate part... and the whole drum needed replacement! What could we do? He ordered it and said it would be shipped to RD in 7-10 days. It came a bit early, and they called to schedule an install. The same tech arrived on time, was quick with the fix, was clean... and took the old drum with him. Great job, RD... and no more wasted time for my wife at the laundrymat!

    RD caused my control board to go on fire and now somehow I have to pay $1,330. Use someone else!

    Hello everyone. Updating my original review here, as promised, with the conclusion of the saga. Here are the simple honest facts of why you should quite obviously steer clear of using RD Appliance for appliance repair. There are also some things they should learn about the repair business as well. * My double Thermador Wall Oven's lower oven wasn't heating. This has been the case for several months, but it wasn't a new problem. It was just one that hadn't popped up for a few years. It had been repaired before pretty easily, but obviously not inexpensive. I assumed that would be the case again. That previous work was done with another company (that I should have used instead clearly!) * The upper oven has always been working fine. Let's remember that as we dive deeper. * The technician acknowledges the upper is working and accesses the control board. Much later on, she mentions that the board began smoking and sparking when she accessed it. * As a result, the entire appliance is dead with now a fully damaged control board. * Here's the problem: RD says I now I have to pay over $1,330 for this repair for an oven that had been working prior to RD's arrival. It is the equivalent of taking your car into the shop for a rear brake job and now both axles broke and the entire braking system failed, rendering the car inoperable. And somehow this is my fault on my dime? * It's an old Thermador, so parts don't exist for this. But RD said they can have it repaired in two weeks time. But they have to ship the part to Texas for repairs through this guy?!: https://www.fixyourboard.com/ * In the end, they finally are getting the part back now with only a 1-year labor and part guarantee and it won't be fixed until next week at the 3-week mark. I've spoken with some electronics expert in the meantime that believe there's a real good chance this repair won't work out of the gate because it's a 24-year-old Thermador with a burnt control board! * So let's summarize: RD completely breaks my oven because of what I believe was incompetence, makes me pay for it and takes it's sweet time fixing it with no customer service or even an apology. * Here's some advice to RD: if you think there's a good chance something could happen like this, hopefully you have enough expertise to give the customer the disclaimer that sometimes old boards fall apart upon inspection and then ask if we want to go through with the repair before you begin. And, once the board is smoking and sparking and the oven is dead, have the expertise to tell the customer it's probably better worth investing in a new oven versus taking the chance with this repair. * But they clearly just wanted to cut and run with my money. * Bottom line: RD clearly lacks the competence and expertise necessary to properly repair appliances and I would recommend finding another repair business instead. Why risk it with RD? * RD must also stand for Rude and Dismissive when I brought these concerns to them. Clearly, they are very used to providing poor customer service. * Good luck!

My 14 year old whirlpool side by side refrigerator broke a few weeks ago, but had still been making ice. I wanted to have it checked just to be sure I could trust it. When I called to describe the problem, the person who answered suggested that i pick up some thermometers and monitor the temperature, and call them if there was a problem. I got some great freezer /refrigerator thermometers from the hardware store and found that both the freezer and refrigerator side were too warm, even though I had the coldest setting selected so I called for an appointment. They called me back and let me know that the service man would be out today after 11. They reviewed the prices with me. Today I got a call that the repairman would be leaving soon. Then I got a call that he had left and should be at my house soon. The repairman also called me to tell me that he was 15 minutes away. This was great since I didn't have to wait at home but could do some small errands near home. When he got to my house, he listened to the description of the issue and diagnosed the problem. He asked how old the refrigerator was and explained what was going on, telling me that it would cost more to repair this than to buy a new one since only about a third of the freon that should have been getting through the system to cool it was actually getting there. I really appreciated that the repair man showed up as expected, kept me informed and had excellent knowledge of the problem. I really enjoyed working with this company and will call anytime I need service. Thank you for the great job!

    TLDR: Find someone who provides itemized pricing. These guys charge insane rates and won't even…read moretell you what parts they installed. I'm very unsatisfied with both the service and the follow-up with American Service. After the repair, I asked a straightforward question: what specific parts were installed. They refused to answer. No itemization, no explanation, just deflection. That alone is a major red flag. After some independent research, I found the parts installed cost roughly $500 total. I was charged around $1,500 overall, which implies ~$1,000 in labor for at most 1-1.5 hours of work. That pricing is wildly out of line with the market. They're free to charge what they want, regardless how offensive it is. But when pricing is opaque and basic questions are avoided, it creates a dishonest experience and erodes trust. Playing dumb when asked for details only makes it worse. Look elsewhere
