Incredible, spectacular service. I can't say enough about how impressed I was with the response and knowledge of the refrigerator service man. Wow! My 14 year old whirlpool side by side refrigerator broke a few weeks ago, but had still been making ice. I wanted to have it checked just to be sure I could trust it. When I called to describe the problem, the person who answered suggested that i pick up some thermometers and monitor the temperature, and call them if there was a problem. I got some great freezer /refrigerator thermometers from the hardware store and found that both the freezer and refrigerator side were too warm, even though I had the coldest setting selected so I called for an appointment. They called me back and let me know that the service man would be out today after 11. They reviewed the prices with me. Today I got a call that the repairman would be leaving soon. Then I got a call that he had left and should be at my house soon. The repairman also called me to tell me that he was 15 minutes away. This was great since I didn't have to wait at home but could do some small errands near home. When he got to my house, he listened to the description of the issue and diagnosed the problem. He asked how old the refrigerator was and explained what was going on, telling me that it would cost more to repair this than to buy a new one since only about a third of the freon that should have been getting through the system to cool it was actually getting there. I really appreciated that the repair man showed up as expected, kept me informed and had excellent knowledge of the problem. TLDR: Find someone who provides itemized pricing. These guys charge insane rates and won't even tell you what parts they installed. I'm very unsatisfied with both the service and the follow-up with American Service. After the repair, I asked a straightforward question: what specific parts were installed. They refused to answer. No itemization, no explanation, just deflection. That alone is a major red flag. After some independent research, I found the parts installed cost roughly $500 total. I was charged around $1,500 overall, which implies ~$1,000 in labor for at most 1-1.5 hours of work. That pricing is wildly out of line with the market. They're free to charge what they want, regardless how offensive it is. But when pricing is opaque and basic questions are avoided, it creates a dishonest experience and erodes trust. STAY AWAY! Dishonest to the core and incapable of repairing. Charged me $700 to repair a washer that they couldn't (another company did it on one visit) repair and won't refund it. Go literally anywhere else. Tech had no idea what he was doing. Started replacing parts and admitted that he had no idea if it would work. Left the house and told me to call if it didn't work and he'd come back and change something else. Ignored the calls and disappeared. Office staff said it worked when he left so we had to pay. On top of that, the unit is under warranty. The manufacturer admitted that had to business charging us in the first place. Stay away from this hapless outfit. read more

Scheduled a repair for an outdoor appliance. Call scheduled and confirmed. Received a call during the repair window that the technician can't come due to rain. I informed the person on the phone that the outdoor appliance is on a covered patio and would not get wet. They refused to come because the rain could be "sideways". I asked them to cancel my appointment. Immediately after hanging up they began to call and text that the technician would now come. Bush league. American Service's goal is DEFINITELY NOT "100% customer satisfaction" (contrary to the lie that is blatantly listed on their website). This is related to my review for Middleby as this was the licensed repair company they told me to reach out to that is in my area. Similar to that other review, when we were still under warranty, all was well and great. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, American Service is NOT here to help you out. They just want to rob you and make your life even more difficult. Our fridge has now had to be serviced at least 2 to 3 times in less than a span of 3 or 4 years? Surely Viking fridges should be better than that, but alas, they are not. Our service guy is fine but just to STEP FOOT IN THE DOOR to give me an estimate on how much I will be charged to replace the interior fridge lights (THAT WERE REPLACED LESS THAN A FEW MONTHS AGO BY THE SAME SERVICE GUY ROB), I have to PAY A HEFTY FEE OR $169?! Are you insane? The lights that this same guy changed broke in such a short span of time (which is under the year guarantee that American Service provides) yet I AM THE ONE to still have to shell out nearly TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS to get an idea of how much it will cost to fix? Not only with the lights, but there were other issues with our fridge and American Service charged us $1200 just for 2 to 3 hours of work. I have a 35 year old in the wall double gas oven. Called around and some people wouldn't even consider coming in. I called American just a few days before Christmas. They were extremely polite on the phone and explained they may not be able to repair such an old appliance, but they would try. So our Whirlpool washing machine broke and we did not know who to call so we called American service. They told us it would be $125 to come out and whether they could fix it or not the $125 has to be paid... But if they do fix it the $125 will go towards the fix. It turned out that the washing machine needed a tiny part, not a motor and nothing very large. It also turned out that the technician had the tiny part on his truck so he proceeded to fix it. The final bill was $300. I thought that was very very high for a small part that was on his truck and the entire repair took between 20 and 25 minutes. I hate to say it but we felt very ripped off. Yes, the washing machine is fixed and is now working but we will not use this company again..... read more

I would give this company ZERO STARS if possible. The receptionist was absolutely rude and dismissive whenever my wife called to find an update. We've been dealing with our Viking Refriderator being broken since JANUARY of this year and it's now the end of AUGUST. The servicemen have come back numerous times without actually doing anything. When they said they had to order a part it was months until we got someone on the phone and to this day we are still waiting for them to come back. When we called Viking directly, they notified us that American Service had waited ONE MONTH after leaving our house to order the part. Also when the servicemen had come we informed him that the freezer was leaking. Clearly it is not sealing properly because we can feel the cold air coming out of it and all contents have melted. He had a look at the door and shrugged "I don't like the way this closes" and then left the house without telling is when they'd be back. We haven't been able to use our freezer since JANUARY..... 8 months ago. Totally don't understand the ratings here. They fixed my Viking range on short notice. Arrived on time and even called ahead to make sure we were home. The part they charged me for seemed fairly close to market rate and the overall charge was reasonable (esp. for the Hamptons). PLUS, they take credit cards and swiped the card in their iPad. This is a followup to Sue D's recent comments regarding our Viking fridge and the gasket issue. After she posted the comment, the office manager called our home the next morning at 8 am on our home telephone and cell phone. at least three times . He apparently took great exception to my wife's comments. Claiming the charge of $500 labor was justified in that they use Viking certified parts and that their labor is warrantied. For the record, the parts we subsequently ordered were from Viking. The cost was about $330.00. Also to be fair the installation did not take 20 minutes as the online video claimed but 30 minutes. Maybe if I was a trained professional it would have taken less time. LOL. That being said, to charge almost $500.00 to install two simple plastic components on a fridge ( that took about 1/2 an hour) is egregious to say the least. Suffice to say, we won't be calling American Service again anytime soon. read more

First off I was informed that the service man would be wearing a mask and gloves due to COVID, he had the mask but no gloves and the man who came was Rob and from right off I knew it was not going to be a good experience. The only way I knew someone was at the door was because my dogs were barking he says he knocked on the door but I have a RING so why not use it? He comes in I tell him that my pilot lights don't light up on the top of my stove unless I turn them all on and then use a lighter to light one and then a small flame starts and then they start working. He says well I wasn't really watching what you did to start the pilot lights to work but I'm going to try and diagnose it because it seems to work now and I tried to explain to him that once I get the flame it works till I try to light it to make dinner the next night I have to try and use the lighter to get it working again. He was also there because the light in the refrigerator works sometimes and then sometimes you have to shake the bulb and it works there is clearly a wiring problem he looked at the bulb and shook it like the bulb doesn't work but it was working. I then asked how much to fix the stove and do you know what the problem is and he said it might be the pressure flow regulator but he wasn't too sure. At that point I said I don't understand you're the technician but you're not paying attention to when I showed you how I have to light the pilot light on top of the stove. Then The fridge light he had no clue. So at that point he said to me I don't want to deal with my attitude so he would gladly leave and not charge me for the visit and that there are many other service companies that can fix my stove and refrigerator. Now is that really how you treat a client. I then said fine if you don't want to fix it you can leave. SO DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND THEY ARE TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND TRULY CLUELESS. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MY TIME!!!!!! I called to complain and Amy the person who took my call was also rude and obnoxious and supposedly a Mr. Scott the supervisor is going to call me back. Well someone said it, and it's worth repeating. This appliance repair shop, (and would say all appliance repair shops) have consumers, 'between a rock and hard place.' Replace or repair. They know the cost to replace the appliance and therefore know how much to charge to repair. The $$ quote generally makes a better argument to repair. However the scam is that the realistic cost to them has incredible ridiculous mark-up! They got you because there is a service charge to come out. My GE refrigerator repair took 15 mins. to fix (not counting travel time) and the part cost ~$180. A reasonable charge should have been $300-$350. They nail me for $531 dollars! This was my mistake; my advice, if you consider yourself half way handy -try fixing yourself. Chances are the simple answer is on web, Otherwise replace it. read more

Placed a service call on a Monday morning at 9am to repair a refrigerator. Company representative scheduled the earliest appointment for Wednesday between 1pm & 4pm. We are a Business so I told the representative we close at 4:30pm. Representative called Wednesday afternoon to tell me they couldn't keep the appointment. So I asked will they be able to come on Thursday morning since we have been waiting since Monday? Just called at 11:30 am to be told they will not be in this area till next Tuesday. My Electrolux dishwasher suddenly refused to work, showing the "50" ferror number, which is code for a broken circulation pump. Where to go, who to call? First thing I did is go online and ask for recommendations. I have a favorite local site I use ( NextDoor.com) and saw a woman had a major thumbs up for American Service. So, I checked out their website and it looked professional and legit, which is always a good sign. Then I called them and got connected with Amy, who proceeded to be my therapist for the morning. Honestly, she was super helpful and supportive and not just trying to get her guys in the door to make a few bucks. She even said, if you don't want to fix it, here are some good brands to buy that "my guys strongly support (KitchenAid, Bosch)." Anyway, I proceeded to try to get it fixed. So, I scheduled with American Service and the next day, Charlie and Tyler arrived right at 10 am (I had a window from 10 am to 2 pm). They shook my hand, walked in and immediately said "this is going to cost a lot. Don't fix it (it's a bad brand) and spend the money on a new, better DW." Not that I'm crazy about dropping $600-$800 on a new dishwasher, but they were truthful that I would be foolish to throw good money after bad. Thank you American Service! Been using this company since 2009. Spent several thousand dollars over that time for my home and a rental. Had a broken microwave latch. They knew the cost but would not let on. Technician basically laughed when he came. "Do you really want this fixed?". Wanted to charge me $279 plus tax for a $300 microwave. Of course, I declined. Then they hit me with a $95 service fee for not getting it fixed. I called, tried to reason to no avail. Offered me a $20 discount on my next repair. Congratulated the business on losing their first long time customer of 2018. No business is that busy that they can toss away repeat customers. Word of mouth is the best, or in this case, the worst free advertising. Kicker.... googled the repair and there is no cost. Remove door flange, pull out plastic latch, drill new hole for spring and reinstall. Unfortunately that cost me $95 plus tax *&^%$#~! Best of luck, American Service. Disappointing. Called them for my outdoor grill. Needed to replace 2 igniters. Repairman first tried to get me to agree to replace all 4 igniters. Was finally quoted $600 for two igniters. I was charged $150 for the service call. About a month later the two igniters were installed. And I was then charged the full $600 so $750 in total - for two igniters. Live and learn. read more

Absolutely terrible. For starters, the initial fee is $20 more than anyone else in the area and is non-refundable. They came to my house and diagnosed the problem with my dryer - it was pretty obvious, the power button had been pushed in. My wife was quoted a price of $550 and asked to give a $200 deposit to purchase the necessary part. I looked up the price of the part and it was $140 (meaning they were attempting to charge $410 for labor). I called another local company - Appliance Doctor in Oceanside.
