There was hardly any weeks to purchase. Next, due to the pandemic, my account lapsed. I tried to renew. I was offered 23 months for a 2 year purchase. Let me explain..... I am writing this on behalf of my mom who is 79 years old. She and my father have been members of RCI for 20 years. My father passed away in November. My mom has received many calls from RCI to renew the membership, but she is not sure she wants to. The last call she received, she finally picked up and the person on the other end whom I believe was probably from the call center asked for my father. When my mom said that he had passed away, the call-center person said, "Oh sorry, goodbye" and hung up. This was very hurtful to my mom. She called somebody at customer service who listened to her and suggested that she contact the corporate office. The person on the other end was very sympathetic but didn't give her any contact information. My mom wants to email a letter to somebody who should know her story of poor customer service. My mom is a long time customer and deserves to be heard. I have no problem encouraging my mom to cancel RCI over this and then she will and I will find another company to work with. She is of the generation that believes a complaint should make a difference. We'll see. All I know is that the headquarters is in Indiana. read more

RCI cancellation policy is absolutely ridiculous. We've been a member for a few years, however we recently had to cancel a vacation in January due to my daughter finally being able to fly out to Australia for college. When I went to cancel, it said I would get a refund if $250 but lose 5 points in trading power. Needless to say, READ THE FINE PRINT because you only have 24hrs to cancel or you don't get the $250 back. This company is a scam. I will be looking at a different timeshare company to use my points. My Girlfriend and I booked a vacation at the Dreams Palm Beach in the Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, checking in 12/31/16, and checking out 01/07/17. She booked this room through her Disney Vacation Club timeshare partner RCI/GBS. In advance of check in, RCI kept hounding us to pay the all-inclusive fees. RCI/GBS told us the fees were $236 per person per day. I have a major concern with this reservation. We were finally paid in advance, $3307 for the all-inclusive fees on 12/30. I paid $1181. My Girlfriend paid the balance of $2126. When we got to the hotel, they had no record of the payment to RCI and wanted us to pay the all-inclusive fees before We could check in. They told us those fees were $1019! This is $145 per day for both people. So, there is a huge disconnect with RCI/GBS. THIS IS PRICE GOUGING! We are owed back $3307 - $1019 = $2288.. We sat around for over an hour while they straightened out the paperwork to allow us to check in. While on the telephone with a RCI/GBS representative, they told us that Dreams should not have quoted us the all-inclusive fees. Big alarm bells went off. Then the Dreams check-in specialist and the agent on the phone chatted quietly the remainder of the time and sorted out the paperwork. No one could tell us why there was a 300% markup on the fees. To this date, RCI/GBS have not refunded the difference. We checked out of the hotel on 01/03/2017, because a 3rd person was to join us, and we were not about to be gouged another $236 per person per day. The both of us are filing disputes with the credit card companies to get our money back. read more

No value with RCI membership.. I have been a member of RCI since buy my timeshare almost 20 years ago. Value simply isn't there anymore. As an example, I traded a week for a Celebrity cruise to Alaska. First there was the trade fee. Total cost after the lost week is $3,667.23. Keep in mind the maintenance cost alone is +$800 not even considering the prorated ownership cost. No perks available. All were available for purchase at rack rates from Celebrity. Our friends booked the room right next to us via American Airlines...cost $3,695.57. $29 more, but there is no cost to belong to American Airlines Advantage club. No RCI vacation transfer costs. They received 50K miles for booking and a $75 on board spending credit. You do the math, we paid +$900 more for the pleasure of using RCI. The losses continue to mount... Since I couldn't believe American was the same cost that I paid WITHOUT losing a week at my timeshare, I looked the American's cruse cost online and now American is sending me offers for the cruse. Same costs, with free miles and up to four free perks...Internet, drink package, tips, etc. Add insult to injury, we purchased the internet package at the time of booking in July/2018 for $269 which was charged to our credit card. We were just double charged the same amount in May/2019. After four hours over several phone calls with excuse after excuse, the matter remains unresolved. Finally just rejected the charge as duplicate via Citibank, which is what we've should've done in the first place. No respect for our time and frustration even though they knew the error was theirs. read more

Have been an RCI member for years. My single, significant frustration is using the RCI website for searching and booking vacations. You would think it would be a simple process, however the site is constantly feeds back error reports and RCI often sends out notifications the site is being updated or repaired. Long story short i already had made reservations (unknown to her) and RCI denied my mother and I the refund back to my credit card. I have been an RCI member for many years. I have had positive experiences with them in the past, but the last few years, the company has many scams going on. 1. When you look for a vacation resort on their website, there is never anything available in your timeframe, but miraculously when you get an agent on the line, low and behold there just so happens to be one available. The problem is, it is a run down, $50 per night hotel room quite far from the destination you are requesting. Meanwhile, I deposited a $900 value, 2 bedroom unit in a highly sought after vacation destination and the agent is frustrated and doesn't understand why I don't want to waste my $900 value exchange on a run down hotel I can book on hotels.com for $50 a night. 2. My last resort I checked into in Florida was so dirty and run down, I checked out early. 3. They have a gotcha on everything. Combine weeks, points, extend, trade, all fees that mount on top of your membership fees. Adding hundreds of dollars to your vacation value that you are probably never going to recoop. This is so disappointing for the timeshare industry. I now find I just keep my unit and visit my home resort each year to at least get my monies worth. read more

I am traveling and meeting up with family at my time share. I asked RCI, on chat, to put my brothers name on reservation in case I get stuck at the airport and can't get there at check in. I have already paid for trip protection due to cancelled flights and winter storms. I don't think I should have to pay an additional $99.00 for adding my brothers name to the reservation. These are extenuating circumstances and I'm sure RCI can waive a few bucks when it's all over the news that planes are being cancelled and postponed for extended periods of time. We have been members since 2015. Every time we call to book a resort there is always a new exchange fee tacked. They say you get a free bonus week every year (which they did not inform us about until this year 2021) but it is not free it is an extra $249, plus tax and plus whatever resort fees which winds up being over $500. We pay our membership every year, $100. Plus our resort dues $150 a year. Every customer representative that I speak with tells me something different. If you are looking to buy a timeshare, we highly advise you not to unless you want to just throw your money away. But if you still want one...we are selling ours!! read more

While my timeshare points are with Shell Vacations Club, I frequently do exchanges through RCI. I just returned from the Dominican Republic where I stayed at the Coconut Palms Resort. The Coconut Palms is located between the towns of Sosua and Cabarete. While the resort is nicely landscaped and the rooms are comfortable, I found the service at the resort subpar. The one restaurant onsite was overpriced with mediocre food. $11 US for the breakfast buffet that only had boiled eggs, steamed hot dogs (gross!), potatoes, bread and fruit. There was someone who made omlettes, but I certainly do not think any of the food was very good. One day, we had to eat lunch at the restaurant and we ordered a chicken burrito that was described as being served with guacamole, rice and beans. All it contained was chicken...with some weird sort of pizza sauce on it. Ugh. We did have one dinner there on "BBQ Night" and it was pretty good as long as you just stuck with the meat. The sides were icky. Other service there was spotty. Our condo did not come with a wine opener and the first night when we asked for one, they came to our room and opened the wine for us...but wouldn't leave us one. When we wanted to open another bottle of wine a few days later and asked for the bottle opener again, they NEVER showed up. We ended up going to our neighbors next door and borrowed theirs. The condo was also so remotely located that to go anywhere required us to go by taxi...at $24 US round trip, plus tip. Transportation here was very expensive because of the price of gas. 200 pesos per gallon (approximately $5/gallon). Will I return to the Dominican Republic? Maybe. But we scoped out another resort -- the Natura Cabana -- about a mile down the road. We ate there a couple of times and did yoga. It was a great place. Other attractions in the Dominican Republic: 27 Waterfalls. Not for the faint of heart. Hiking, repelling, jumping down into pools, climbing up waterfalls. Great excursion and worth every penny. Horseback riding. No 'rules' like you find in the US...we were able to run the horses on the beach and the 2 hours we had with our horses was worth the $40 US we paid. Horses aren't as well taken care of like you would find in the US, but we enjoyed riding them. Great way to shake off the winter blues...go to the Caribbean! read more

I recently used my RCI points to stay at the Divi Phoenix Resort in Aruba. The facility looked nice enough, and the one bedroom, 1 full bath, 1 shower bath 'appeared' to be just lovely at first sight. Sadly, upon closer inspection, apartment 754 was not the 'home away from home' we hoped and paid for. We arrived on a Saturday and were there for one week. The microwave did not work at all. It took 4 days to get a working microwave. There is no stove in the unit, so we could not heat up our meals. The washer/dryer could only accommodate 3-4 items of clothing, was a loud as a jet engine, and did not dry the clothes completely. I returned home with mildewed clothes. Also, the first use of the unit blew a circuit that cut the AC as well. The jetted tub did not function at all for 4 days and only partially thereafter. Upon our arrival, lights were burnt out in the kitchen and master bathroom and the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers in the master bedroom had broken off and was resting against the wall next to the dresser. The A/C took one full day to cool the apartment; the apartment remained cool ONLY if we kept all the curtains closed, defeating the purpose of having an ocean view. Our toiletries and towels were not refreshed daily, as advertised. It took 4 days to obtain adequate toiletries and towels. The loud dishwasher merely rinsed the dishes; it did not clean them thoroughly, even though I wiped away all food items from the plates prior to putting them in the dishwasher. Our room was not ready for check-in at 4PM. There was no place to store our luggage upon arrival and the bellman was nowhere in sight. The lobby was jammed with guests waiting for their rooms. When we obtained the keys to our room, the cleaning crew was still there and told us to wait outside. The food in all the restaurants was excellent. The service was not. There is a 15% gratuity added to the bill, so the lack of incentive for superlative service might be the reason for the unsatisfactory service. The spa services were exemplary, but the spa is not part of the Resort. The convenience store prices were ridiculously high, even for an island where everything is imported.For example, sunscreen 50 was $27 for a bottle. The same bottle was $16 at a local convenience store down the street. I lodged my complaints to the front desk early Sunday morning and was told all issues would be remedied that day. They were not. I complained again on Monday morning. A repairman came and replaced the microwave, fixed the drawer and installed fresh light bulbs in the kitchen and master bath. He also showed us how to use the washer/dryer as the directions on the unit itself were unintelligible and the instruction booklet for the unit was non-existent. The jetted tub was not repaired. Towels and toiletries were not refreshed/replenished, so we grabbed some from a room cleaning cart in the hallway. The 'new' microwave worked for one day before it began to beep constantly and malfunction. The washer/dryer never functioned properly. When in use, we could not hear ourselves as the unit was excessively loud. The same held true for the dishwasher. It was very unsettling. On Wednesday, after 4 days of complaining to the Front Desk, I spoke to Pearl, the hotel manager. She sent a repair crew to the room who replaced the microwave with one that actually worked. They replaced the control panel on the jetted tub so that some of the jets worked, but not all. The cleaning crew brought in extra towels and toiletries, so we had adequate supplies thereafter. For the inconvenience of having a substandard room for 50% of our stay, Pearl authorized a $100 credit to our bill. Assistant manager Yvette told us to write to DIVI RESORTS home office in the USA if we wanted to receive additional compensation. I contacted RCI and lodged the above complaints with "Mike", who told me no one has ever complained about his particular resort before and that RCI couldn't do anything to help me. He stated that I would have to contact DIVI RESORTS in the USA if I wanted to receive additional compensation. It appears to me that RCI was eager enough to take my money for the privilege of using its time shares around the world, but thereafter, RCI will not take responsibility for the quality of services rendered to me by this particular resort. Since this is my first experience using RCI points at a resort, I cannot ascertain whether or not this shoddy customer satisfaction approach is the status quo. I hope not, but am not at all confident that such is not the case. I am posting the above review on all my social media sites and other "Review Sites" as well as I want to urge other consumers to consider the treatment I received from the RCI Customer Service department before committing large sums of money to RCI and DIVI PHOENIX Aruba. I have been a member of RCI for 30 years now. I was playing in a tournament in Las Vegas which was to start the end of March 2021. I had booked a place in Vegas. The other day I went on the Moose International website and it said that due to COVID they were cancelling the tournament for 2021. I went into RCI to cancel my booking and they are keeping 8330 points for me cancelling. This is ridiculous! If they were having the tournament I would go... So I call RCI and asked them what their COVID policy was...they only refund the $149 exchange fee I paid them....and they take the 8330 points! But I could spend another $129 to keep those points they said... This is the WORST COVID policy ever. I am now selling my timeshare and hope I never have to use RCI again. DO NOT BUY TIMESHARE THAT GOES THRU RCI...all they want ids your money, they nickel and dime you to death...and 30 years with this company as weeks and points members mean nothing to them! read more

RCI is yet, another scam. In a world where you're constantly having to watch, check and verify for fear that you're being cheated, yes, this is yet another rip-off. I've been a member for 3 years, and have been to three 'marketing' meetings. I haven't even used my points yet because there is never any inventory for where I want to go. You must call and work with a rep to book because they have access to inventory. Why then have a web site??? At these meetings, you're part of a high pressure sales meeting where you are urged to upgrade so that you have more access to inventory. I call bulls&*! We stayed strong and complained about our experience so they left us alone. Just returned from our first trip. Went to LA where there were not any resorts so we used the RCI hotel service. I worked with a phone rep for 1/2 hour. This has to be done over the phone. Of course, they charge you for booking ($25) so I completed my transaction online. Here's part of my confirmation email: "1x Non Smoking Queen Guestroom Queen Beds And Complimentary Wifi All rooms are booked for double occupancy (i.e. 2 adults) and accommodations for more than two adults are not guaranteed " I traveled with my husband and 9 y/o. We stayed for 5 days. Based on our needs, my understanding was that there were two queen beds. Plural, bed(s). We got a room with one queen bed. They were full and did not have roll away beds. I called RCI customer service to help either relocate us or refund us. Instead of helping me, they blamed me for using their online tool and that more than two adults is not guaranteed. I told the original phone rep that I was traveling with my 9 y/o. That was never a secret or trick. The rep claimed that had I booked on the phone, they would have told me there was one bed (they didn't. I was on the phone with them). Their rep sounded like they worked for the hotel instead of for me and were constantly looking to place blame. I just wanted a good comfortable sleep and help from a travel company that I pay. They work for me! They were of NO help. Even after speaking to a supervisor, their only advice was to book an additional hotel (through them of course) or stay. At least the hotel gave us another room on the third night. I've been happier going directly to the hotels and the airlines. In the long run, it's a cheaper and stress free vacation. RCI is over loaded with claims for refunds and credit due to COVID 19. We went online, since we could not get through to an agent to ask a live person to assist us in getting a credit for our vacation or to just use it elsewhere that did not require a plane flight. Our situation is that our autistic daughter can not wear a mask. She has sensory issues and the medical documents to support it. United airlines tightened their policy after we made our reservations to fly with them and we made our vacation stay plans with RCI at our timeshare in Vegas. United refunded our money, but RCI said their policy is only to allow cancellations for reservations up until 9/6/20. Unfortunately, this is not completely clear on their website and when we couldn't get an agent, since they are under staffed we misinterpreted the meaning of their policy. When we finally were able to get through our call was handled by a customer service agent who sounded as if she has the worst job in the world and we were bothering her. Then when we finally got to speak with a supervisor they blamed us for the cancellation and did not show any empathy whatsoever. It was amazing how much they didn't care! As for renewing our membership after being a member for many years and receiving this treatment during this pandemic it will never happen. The RCI company just proved they are about stopping the bleeding of funds from their accounts, due to COVID 19 governmental regulations and that they could care less about their loyal customers. Do yourself a favor, pass up on any membership offers from this company. Further causing grief for a family with a very young disabled child that has autism is despicable. Constant deflection between RCI and Tahiti Village, with constant voicemails left (2 weeks later, still waiting on a response). Furthermore, company emails say we can extend points however it turns out to be false advertising as stated by RCI managers. Currently, I am about to lose all my money in exchange for nothing. If I could give zero stars I would. Bought in 2018. Impossible to Book anything, No Value in membership. All desired travel dates are blocked out. Then if you find one available they only allow you to check in on certain days like a Wednesday or Sunday. Your Deposit Weeks cost additional money every time you use them - they don't take the Canadian/American Exchange into account. I could save WAY MORE MONEY if I booked through Google, Expedia, or any other travel sites directly than with this membership. I Cannot book Caribbean or Mexican destinations with them - there is no value here, you pay way more as well. You are better booking outside of them then within their organization. DO NOT SIGN UP. Beware, total scam. They do a hard sell and I told them there are only 2 months I can travel due to my and my husbands work schedule. They assured me that the hotel / resort stays were all over the US, including Hawaii and all over the world. I've been looking in inventory since 2015 never a warm climate in the winter or a cool one in the summer and few locations available never more than a handful. The all inclusive cost hundreds additional each day. I called for help and was told they would extend the certificate until 12/18 but now I login and look and it says it's expired. I spoke with Riad?? completely rude, just said, "we could go back and forth but I've been working here for 8 years and we save our members a lot of money". I did use the 2- 5 day cruise certificates b/c they were going to expire. On top the price I paid for the certificates, I had to pay port fees and taxes which is understandable but then there were charges on top of them which totaled to over $1750.00 (one inside cabin, one balcony). I booked a 3rd cabin with the cruise line for $1400.00 for 2 people (an extended balcony) with tax and insurance. So the 2 cabins cost me around $3600.00 (if I leave $650.00 for the resort stay) so $1800.00 each cabin a loss of over $800.00 (one cabin was an inside cabin). Also, I look up the resorts that are offered and they are very cheap. The ones in FL, some you can get for as low as $40.00 per day. Just so mad at myself for being suckered in! We bought a time share 2 years ago and got 2 weeks using RCI one week was 399.99 and one week is 199.00.Im heading to cancun in december and we booked throught RCI never again ..It is costing me with the rci fee and the all inclusive more then it would be to book through the resort . I also wanted the adult side of the resort and RCI booked it wrong so now i am stuck on the child side and to upgrade to the royal package it is going to cost me more money .. I have been a member for 15 years, I have points expiring that I was unable to use due to COVID travel restrictions. RCI should have automatically extended points at no charge, Instead, they want me to pay $135 to carry them over to next year. Many resorts are closed and the ones that are open have restricted services. Very disappointing. read more

If you have any choice other than RCI, use it. They recently failed to bank our timeshare for months using an excuse that there was a maintenance fee owed. There is no money owed to our resort but RCI refuses to correct their mistake or even contact our resort to confirm that there was no reason to block our deposit. To make things worse, after they refused to correct the mistake, they actually asked my wife if she would send them more money to keep our subscription for another year! They just cost me $800 and now they want more??? This company is the worst. read more

We had to cancel our membership to RCI a few years back. Today we called to reinstate the membership. Instead of just paying what everyone else is charged, we were going to be required to pay $400+ fee just to rejoin. Since this is suppose to be for members, this fee seems extreme, plus then we would have to pay the annual fee. I have many friends who have decided they will be cancelling their membership, because of poor customer service. read more
