The mechanic actually listened, explained everything in plain Tagalog-English mix, and even suggested a cheaper filter that would do the same job. My uncle recommended that I take it to Car Zone, since he knew the owner and he really likes their service there. I gave it a shot and brought my car in. When I explained the problem, they had a look at it, and within a few minutes they immediately knew what to do. They told me that a few parts needed to be replaced, and that it would take only 20 minutes to do. They finished the job within the time that they told me, and had it ready and running good as new. The owner told me that if I ever needed to get anything else fixed with the car, just bring it in and he'll do his best to give me a good price.

While I would only recommend this to those who mnow what they are doing, it is one of those things that if you need this store, you know you need it very badly.

I seem to find something of interest to me all the time. At times it could be a simple candle (they have a lot of options to choose from by the way and they all smell really good - they even have the glade candles that can instantly make any room smell nice) or those mini popcorn makers. I also remember buying some stuff for our pet dog, they have pet shampoo, food, and of course toys and accessories. I still have the leash that I bought up to this day so I know that they sell products that are of good quality as well. I like looking around True Value because you never really know what you might find, some people see it as a nice hardware store but I think it is so much more than that.

What's good about having a branch in a mall like Robinson's Magnolia that I frequent at for forgetful me, is how passing by the store with its big sign serves as a reminder for me that I actually need to get a few things at home fixed. I just walk in, ask for guidance from one of the many store staffers, and voila, I'm out of there in five minutes. For people like my significant other's father though, one can spend dozens of minutes in the store just looking around, in effect serving as a "toy store" for adults. Like the reliable hardware store that every man or woman needs, True Value pretty much has everything, high-quality and trusted brands included. The best thing about True Value for me though is that they carry my favorite Jack Link's beef jerky that I love snacking on!

You have to wonder how a store can survive selling only one type of merchandise. In the case of Big Time Candle Trading, it's all about candles, candles, nothing but candles. I would think that a store like this can only make hay on the one day in the year when Filipinos pay respects to their departed relatives by lighting candles at their graves, which would be All Saints' Day. But no. This store is surviving and has been in business for many years, according to the lady behind the desk. She said she is not sure how long the business has been operating, but she does know that the owner is not the first generation owner of the establishment.

The only downside is that when said vehicle breaks down, I cannot bring it to the casa or any of the automaker's service centers for genuine parts and services. Good thing a cousin recommended Gr8 Car, an auto center in Makati that services Subic-bought or out-of-warranty vehicles. At first, I imagined the service center to be just like the usual mom-and-pop mechanic or talyer. But when I finally brought my minivan for a preventive maintenance, I was surprised that GR8 has all the bells and whistles of a full-fledged auto service center that it may as well be called a casa in its own right. They have uniformed professional service staff who are courteous and very accommodating. And no, they do not accept tips. Do not try to tip the guys because you will only embarrass yourself. They treat customers equally. I also love their clean air-conditioned waiting area, where an impressive number of awards and plaques given to the company are displayed. The best part about GR8 is that they really do their best to find the solution to fix a defective vehicle. Sometimes even resorting to having parts manufactured, this particularly applies to old car models with rare or unavailable parts. And don't you worry, GR8's services cost cheaper than the casa and they provide warranty for their work. When you bring your car for servicing, there's a big chance that the friendly Sir Javier will be the one to fill up the job order and take in your vehicle. In my experience, Sir Mario and Sir Eric are the meticulous guys that check and fix my minivan's needs. If you are up for a good chat, Sir Tony in the office is a good source of information for all things about vehicles.

So if you love cats, and you like to show it, this is your place. I also like how their stuff here are organised by the kind of "style" you're going for. Carlotta got into an accident one night, when a taxi cut her from the right side, and in order to avoid further damage, decided to hit a street pole on the median instead. She was immediately towed to Wilson and Jackson, where the guard there (who stayed in 24/7), willingly accepted and helped the tow service crew tuck in Carlotta for the rest of the night. For a month and half, Carlotta underwent many services and body repair, which included replacing her headlights, front bumper and fenders, replacing the radiator and repairing the transmission. Through it all, the guys at Wilson and Jackson kept my girlfriend and I updated about her status, and kept us well-informed about all the service that is being done. After her road test, Carlotta was deemed okay for release, all thanks to the fast service of Wilson and Jackson.
