I've been banking with RBFCU for almost 10 years, have excellent credit and have never gone in the red on my account. Their interest rates for vehicle loans are insane. Even with a 700+ credit score my vehicle loan interest rate is 6.2%. I attempted to refinance but the lowest they'll go on an interest rate is 5.5 percent and all that would save me is $4.00 a month. If you can wait until RBFCU stops behaving like a greedy, soul sucking, scumbag bank and brings interest rates back to planet Earth please wait. Went to the Schertz Branch on 4/23/25 to get a document notarized. The guy handling the front desk was rude, seemed bothered & unprofessional. The guy certainly could use customer service training !! I have called the past 4 days and waited exorbitant amounts of time to still never get to speak to anyone. This morning I've called the financial asset line twice and left messages both times and still no answer and no call back. I looked up RBFCU and found most people are feeling the same way I do. Worst customer service! As they posted above..shame on you! Even their automated service sucks. I got automated option for call back so I opted in. I received the call back and was left on hold for 13 minutes before a rude representative came on the line with attitude about how I had to get a new number in my card being replaced due to ATM keeping it. I simply asked if there is anything I can sign for them to only change my CVC because as most us have apps and auto pays know it's a huge inconvenience and too high of a risk some older auto pay set ups with card instead of bank account info not getting paid. She was rude and tried hard to be condescending...fortunately or unfortunately given the poor customer service I've encountered with them so often now I was ready. Ultimately my fault for not making the time to change all my accounts and just leave them. Just speaking from my experience...stay away from this bank...THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS IN THE LEAST! read more

I'm a member of the Capitol Credit Union in Austin, so it's nice that these guys have an ATM sharing agreement so I don't have to pay the outrageous fees of a bank. Always a credit union fan. I always have a good experience at this location. Sometimes the line is long, but they usually have at least 3 tellers to keep things moving. Today they had 5 tellers. I was second in line at the front check-in counter, and a gentleman came out from behind the teller counter and helped me out! Awesome service! They ALWAYS greet you with a smile, and a welcome when you arrive, unlike the vultures at other banks. I've never been harassed by pushy "salesman" either. It's great to receive such personable service. Y'all really have your stuff together! Keep it up! Don't change like your competitor credit union did, across the road. They've turned into a robotic, sales driven, high turnover, bank machine with little humanity. I can't believe checks are free online! They're 50 bucks at the other place! I have been a customer for quite some time and until this point, haven't had a problem. This all started when a local restaurant mistakenly gave my debit card to another patron after processing my bill for payment. I had no way of knowing how to get in touch with the person that had my card so I immediately called RBFCU 800 number for customer service. They cancelled my card to prevent any unauthorized charges. The next morning, I went to the local RBFCU branch on FM 3009 in Schertz as soon as they opened to have another card issued. They said it would be 3-5 business days but it usually comes sooner than that. The next day, at 4:15 pm, I get a call from RBFCU telling me they were cancelling the replacement card that had been issued because they inadvertently used my old debit card number. They said they would have to set it up to produce another replacement. I asked them if I was going to have to wait another 3-5 business days. They said yes. I asked them if they could put a rush on it since their mistake was causing a 2 day delay. They checked with the supervisor and told me they could but I would have to pay $35 to rush it. I told them I don't think that is right since they made the mistake that was causing it to take 2 additional days. I don't think I am being unreasonable to expect them to at least take care of the fee to rush the card. I guess they don't agree. Sad that $35.00 is more important to them than a good customer. read more

They are unable to stop my emails about statements, otherwise I'll get paper statements. Unsafe for my travels to have statements sitting in my mailbox. I don't want my emails full of rbfcu info either. I just want to check when I want to. It's like I'm being set up to be kidnapped or hacked. Very unhappy! I would be glad to change the rating if this easily correctable issue is taken care of, but so far I spoke with employees not interested in ratings. read more

RBFCU has been going downhill for a while now. They slashed member benefits and charge overdraft fees for every single transaction. Even if the merchant broke up the charges for one purchase. They will charge you $24 every freaking time and will not refund you at all even though it is not your fault. They want you to go get a letter from the merchant stating that you were charged wrong. Come on, you think I have the time to wait through 20 other companies' bureaucratic BS?! They constantly send me letters saying I'm qualified for a car loan or student loan but then deny me every time when I request a loan. They told me I had overdraft protection when I didn't. Their new app sucks just as much as their old one - bugs, UX issues. You are a credit union. Meaning you are supposed to be member-driven - ACT LIKE IT! I feel no humanity from them what so ever. Even with COVID. They do not care about their members. Guess what RBFCU - I got that educational loan you denied me and Im leaving you after 20+ years. Go learn how to treat people better. read more

I have been a member since 1995. RBFCU has been a very good bank that has financed my car and helped me manage my money. The staff at this location is very helpful and friendly. Lines are short to nonexistent and the drive thru is pretty quick as well. Great banking location. read more

Worst approval odds on the planet! I've been banking with them for 3 years this February. I've paid off a motorcycle that I financed through Harley. I haven't missed a single house payment on my new $146,000 house that I financed with Guild Mortgage. I've removed items from my credit report. My credit scores have consistently climbed over the years. I've never missed a credit card payment, phone payment, insurance payment, motorcycle payment, house payment or any other payment and they won't let me finance a pack of gum! Poor customer service. No quality control on paperwork. Loan reps don't know what they're doing and inconsistent with procedures. You never can talk to the same person twice and you have to start from scratch everytime. Loan department makes constant mistakes with loans. They never have valid excuses other than they're sorry or put their hands in the air and say they don't know. It took 5 different trips to get paperwork right and then only after raising hell with the corporate office. This Institution has gone to the dogs and is nowhere near where they used to be. A 1.65% rate is great but not worth the headache and having to deal with people who don't know what they're doing. Consumer Beware! Check BBB, I'm not the only victim. read more

Horrible bank! Outdated systems and must be broke because they sure don't approve loans! We will be closing our accounts ASAP!!! Go with Navy Federal, USAA and even Security Service they are current with the times and despite strict lending requirements they have approved us for all the loans we applied for. I opened an account with RBFCU recently. I'm a college student so I don't have much income going through the bank, but I do watch and am very careful. I wrote a check, had plenty to cover it. Bought a coke through a machine with my debit card because I didn't have cash. The machine charged a holding fee of 2.50 that I didn't know about so when the check hit the bank that pending 2.50 caused the account to be 6 cents under my check amount. The check didn't immediately go through until the 2.50 was off hold, but the bank charged me the nsf fee even though the account had enough money in it to cover the check. Then the bank held the coke amount of 1.50 until after they made sure my account was in the negative with the nsf so they could charge me another nsf fee. Therefore, they scammed me out of $48.00. I told them the situation and they acted like sarcastic computers and refused to do the right thing and replace the fees. Severely BAD customer service. they are getting bad reviews from me and lost a customer over $48.00. Never again RBFCU, you scammed me once and refused to be human about it. No thanks!
