We'd finished a boozy brunch yesterday and I decided to book an Uber home. Firstly, you need to watch for surge pricing. This pops up as a notification when you try to search for a taxi but I think they could have another reminder in the process, just so you really know what you'll be paying. It came up with 1.5x surge (meaning you pay 1.5x the normal rate because there's a high demand). I just cancelled and waited a few minutes before checking again, and the surge period had finished. I like the app and find it really easy to use - no worrying about where your taxi is because you can see it on the map, no worrying about paying by card or having cash as it's all done in the app so you just hop out at the end. Our taxi arrived within a few minutes and we were on our way. A trip into the city centre for us with our usual taxi company is £12.50, this ride was just £14, so the prices aren't really too different (our taxi company had a 15 minute + wait). I'm not going to say that I'd use Uber all the time in Glasgow but they're definitely handy to have. Also, in my experience (probably 30+ rides with Uber in various cities) the drivers tend to keep the cars in excellent condition.

Über has only recently arrived to Belfast so any time I've checked there is never any cars available. Our car arrived within minutes - I think this is my favourite thing about Uber - you can tell exactly how much time you have before your car is going to arrive. So you can finish off your drinks and walk outside exactly as your taxi arrives. Our driver was pleasant and chatty. He mentioned that he can review passengers and that passengers can also rate him. (Little did he know that we were Yelp Elites and he was getting reviewed anyway). The fair from the bus station to the west end area of Glasgow cost less that £5 and the receipt was emailed to me within minutes of getting out of the car. It just comes straight out of your bank so there's no worrying about stopping for cash. All in all a great experience with Uber and I'll definitely use them again!

Got the confirmation saying my driver was on their way, 25 minutes later still no driver so I phoned Hampden Cars to find out what was going on. The man on the phone told me the driver had been cancelled as he didn't want to take the dog (why pick up the job in the first place then?) I was then told it would be at least an hour wait for another cab. I told the man on the phone to just cancel the job and I would try with a different company, he misheard me and thought I said I'd get a decent company, when I tried to rectify the mistake he was rude to me and hung up on me. So overall zero professionalism and zero communication. Putting 2 stars as I have had a good journey with them before but tonight has been ridiculous.

They're operators can also be a tiny bit arsey if you call back to check when your cab is on the way, and they don't send a handy text when your car is on the way either. That said, nine out of ten journeys with Hampden go swimingly, and I recently had a driver who gave some intelligent, culturally minded chat, rather than the tired "send 'em all back" monologue you often expect. Not my first choice cab firm, but still four stars.

I was going from Aros Dr Mosspark Glasgow G52 to Cairnhill just outside Airdrie to see my beloved partner Lorna. After expecting a very long delay the taxi was outside the house within 5 minutes. The driver Tony is one of thee kindest most helpful genuine nicest person i have met in years. I felt like i was getting VIP chauffeur service. When we got to my destination i could not believe how low the fare was i said Tony please double check surely it must be so much more. Tony rechecked and said no Michael that is the correct fare. Once at Lorna's the first thing i done was to phone Pacific Cars to thank Tony and them for a 5 star service for a 1 star price. Truly truly sublime outstanding service. Wow wow wow !!!!!!

The driver that took me to destination was not sure where he was and had to ask me for directions in the end l had to look up google maps on my phone to find our way. The taxi stank badly of stale cigarette smoke & eggs,the fair was £20.00. On the homeward journey l booked the same taxi service again. The driver was polite & chatty but the fair was only £12.00. With going to the same destinations you would have thought the fair would have been the same or similar, something is wrong it there is £8.00 if a difference before tip.

He pulled over again and said that we wouldn't move until he was sure I was ok. As I wasn't sure it wouldn't happen again, I opted to get out of the car and walk the final part of the journey (at least a 15 minute walk). Before he left he spoke to his manager. I also spoke to her and gave my email address, asking that I get sent the invoice once the car had been cleaned. I paid my fare and got out. Less than five minutes later I got a call from the office saying that my payment had failed. When I explained I didn't know how they said that the cost was £71 ( original fare was £31) and said that they had already added the cleaning fee to the fare price but until that point no one had told me, or the driver, this. We agreed the driver would come back to take the payment but I explained that I wasn't home yet and I would be there shortly. Five minutes later the office called me again and without any greeting on the phone immediately asked if someone was coming to pay the driver. I once again explained that I was on my way but I had got out of the car 15 minutes away from the address they sent the driver to. I did eventually get home and meet the driver to make the payment. He could not have been any nicer or patient with me and was so nice about the whole situation but the office staff lacked any kind of empathy, sympathy or patience and made an already awful and embarrassing situation so much worse. The driver treated me with so much respect and patience but the office were so rude and demeaning. I usually swear by this company but I definitely wouldn't be recommending them any time soon.

A taxi was booked, I waited for half an hour on the Tuesday, before the taxi turned up. Then last night, I was waiting about two hours, but never turned up. I phoned myself, asked what happened to the taxi. The office staff member asked, if I was looking for a taxi. I explained that I was nearly there for 2 two hours, he then just hung up on me. They were told on both occasion, that I was going to Glasgow Central Station for a train back home to Greenock. There was to be "Storm Diana" making an appearance. I had nasty thoughts that the trains would be cancelled, and me stranded in Glasgow. This company should have their Operators Licence revoked, if this is the way they treat passengers, especially visitors to Glasgow.

My partner has recently gone blind where he is blind in one full eye and half in the right eye and is still trying to face his daily routine and get around using his blind stick. We both want to thank the guys that are around the busses before departure offering to help him on the bus as we were ready to head back to Edinburgh and another guy saving us a seat on the lower ground as the bus was quite busy. I was really surprised and grateful when the 2 men offered us their help and so was he. Thanks guys keep up the great work! :) Danielle
