I was denied for an MRI because of an allergy to contrast dye, so they wouldn't take me and I had to reschedule and go to a hospital. Another time, they denied me for an MRI because I have a piece of metal in my body. (Despite the fact that I have had three other MRIs in the last six months without issue, they would not take me.) And I was only told that after I was there, checked in, the paperwork, completed, and in scrubs and ready to go for the imaging. The radiology tech said he could call some of his other clinics and see if they would take me and they could try to reschedule. But if he wouldn't take me, why would the other clinics? I'm not going to bother trying again. I'll just go to the local hospital, so I know I can get help in a timely manner when I need imaging completed.

His idiotic insurance company who, in hindsight,…read moreprobably would not pay for the Removal of a hang nail, would not pay for an MRI of Larry's part in question, at least until the Doctor's order went through the 90 person review committee which meets every other August in the Cayman Islands. Since Larry didn't want to wait that long Cuz he'd be DEAD!!!, he looked at alternative services and landed on RAYUS Radiology where, for around $400 cash on the barrel head, they will scan your dingle and give you a dongle of your dingle. Well, count me in! These people were extremely organized, moved like a well oiled machine and we're awake at 6am or whenever the heck I wents there Cuz it was still dark. But the technician knew her job, the staff was punctual, the service was competent and quick and Larry got the fotos of the dingle on the dongle to his doctor months before his insurance company allowed him the courtesy of expiring on his deathbed. Yay! Thank you RAYUS. Postscript: I did not die.

Unfortunately, I never got that far because their administrative and scheduling staff proved themselves pretty incompetent. First, it took them a week to call to set up the appointment, whereas I was told they'd be in touch within 24-48 hours. I was living on opioids in the meantime. When they finally called, I was working so they left a message. When I returned the call, I was on hold for about 15 minutes before being forced to leave a message. They took 3 days to call back. When they did, the line was barely audible. The representative didn't tell me that there were other imaging options closer to me (which I later found out they were supposd to), so I had to drive for an hour and a half to get to their closest location. Not a pleasant trip with a herniated L1 disk. When I got to the clinic, they had instead mistakenly scheduled me for two days later. Three hours' drive and $15 gas for nothing. Talking with another patient in the parking lot afterwards, they reported similar issues: slow response, clerical mistakes made, lots of excuses, but little interest in making things right. To their credit, the manager of that particular clinic gave me a call within an hour, but it was largely to make excuses as to why it was not their fault, and saying the problems I experienced were under another manager's purview. I asked if that person could give me a call. About an hour later, right at the end of their business day, I got a call from an unknown number that rang once and hung up before I could answer. Five minutes later, a voicemail appeared with a long, but vague and half-decipherable message, again with excuses, but no real attempt at resolution. Personally, I would rather pay $250 extra bucks out of pocket than entrust my health to a company that runs the administrative side of their business is such a slipshod manner.

Not so good: I had requested in writing at check-in that the results be reported to two other physicians who are also attempting to diagnose my symptoms. I was assured verbally that this would happen within 2 or 3 days. Almost a month later, these results have not been received. From my perspective, this is a big minus. I believe that the situation is due not to a lack of desire, but a lack of office staff execution and double-checking. The office processes should be improved so that these requests are not only acknowledged, but followed through on.
