And the staff, they were kind of helpful. It was busy,I'm thinking a CCW class must've been going on. Then it came time to try a used Smith and Wesson, and they allowed us a few shots on the range. The range is indoors. It is rather loud even with hearing protection. I had trouble with the firing, after 2, I started to have trouble with the gun itself. The staff were really great, and the problem was possibly me, trying to use it. They have plenty to rent, not many when they are crowded. I would love to go on a day without a crowd, and try out different models, even if I had to pay for range times. I really want to become good at this, without jitters. I did happen to notice the picture of Obama, with a quote about taking our guns. Nah...not gonna happen. So the shop is okay, great place, if you can over come the politics.

I found a Glock 21 Gen 4 in the display case marked at $899.00. Before visiting, I had checked their website and saw the same firearm listed for $599.00. I asked the salesperson about the price difference. He checked with the manager and returned a few minutes later stating they would honor the website price. However, because they do not process firearm transfers within an hour of closing, he asked me to return Monday. I agreed. On Monday, I left work and drove straight to the store, arriving at approximately 4:03 PM. I did my best to arrive before their transfer cutoff but was unable to make it in time. I apologized for arriving late, explained I was there to complete the purchase, and the salesperson took my ID and handed me the paperwork. I was halfway through filling it out when the owner approached. The owner told me the website had not been updated and that he had sold the same model on GunBroker for $750.00. He then told me he would not honor the $599.00 website price, despite the fact that I had already been told on Saturday that they would. The website not being updated was an internal issue with Simmons, not the customer's responsibility. I relied on the advertised price and, more importantly, on the commitment made by their employee after confirming it with management. If they had no intention of honoring the price, they should have said so on Saturday instead of asking me to return Monday. I made a second trip, spent my time and fuel, and had already started the paperwork before they changed their position. This was not just a pricing error--it was a broken promise and poor customer service. Based on this experience, I will not do business with Simmons again, and I cannot recommend them to anyone expecting a business to honor the commitments it makes to its customers.

There are other gun shops closer that sell used guns, but OGS is my go-to.

However this second experience was dramatically different. The 3 guys that were all behind the counter, all eating lunch, made me feel very unwelcome as if I were disturbing them. I actually said to one of the workers, "I purchased a rifle from you guys and I'm back because of the great experience" and the workers response was "whatever". The larger fellow actually talked me out of a sale. Not by what he said, but more so because there were tator tots/hash browns falling out of his mouth as he was making comments. I couldn't pay attention to the words he was saying because there was cheese sauce on his face. The third worker was the most helpful but left in mid-conversation because his girlfriend was yelling for him. I won't be returning to this shop for several reasons: 1. Because I didn't feel welcome. 2. It's rude to speak with your mouth full. 3. If a customer has a preference about a certain product, it's not wise to insult them because of that preference. Hey, I'm sure these guys are ok. Not great, just ok. But if you're expecting customer service and common sense, this isn't the place for you.
