I would highly recommend Dattilo's to anyone needing a gun for protection and safety…read more The gentlemen were polite, efficient and professional. My son and l received the BEST of professional advice when we went there on Saturday ( yesterday). Concerns about comparative features between guns, laws about "carry" were easily answered. Although, we were not aware that Datilio's is closed at noon on Saturdays, all required paperwork was handled and necessary phone calls made in a professional and timely manner. All the shelves were stocked with an unbelievable variety of fishing tackle , archery paraphernalia, etc. for avid sportsmen of all types. We were AMAZED at the ease with which our questions and concerns were handled by all the gentlemen working at Datilio's . They were only too happy to help novices and experts who walked through the doors ! Inadvertently, we held up two employees 20 -25 minutes past closing time, but were treated with courtesy and respect the entire time. We had no idea that we had come so late, and had we known, we would have come to Datilio's much earlier ! We are so fortunate to have Datilio's Gun and Tackle Shop in our community. We had heard wonderful things about Datilio's from a number of sources, now we know them to be true. Thank you, Datilio's. You come with our highest recommendation to those who are looking for outstanding service and selection for fishing tackle, archery and gun accoutrements! Thank you .

Once I picked it out I started to do a little window shopping, the woman at the counter saw me and apologized for not greeting me when I walked in.... In a world where give you vacant, here was a sincere apology for not welcoming me. I could have bought it online for $45 (plus shipping). I paid $50 and had it. In the last 10 years there are new owners, and definitely the same great service and possibly better prices. If you shop enough you could find things cheaper -- somewhere --- but you won't match the service. One of the things I like the best about Blue Line (no one says 'Sports Shop') is that for a small store, family owned, they usually give you a couple choice --- high end and cheaper May 2013: Have to revisit this, went in expecting to by a 2/3 wt fly reel. I had talked to (learned later) the owner on the phone and he implied there was a reel in the store. There wasn't. I asked the gentleman for a spool price, to order, and he said only the owner was allowed to give that out.... not the best way to do service

Upper Valley Outfitters is the only dedicated fly fishing store you're likely to find anywhere in…read morethe Upper Valley, an area where the waters are big and plentiful but the fishing shops seem suspiciously scarce. Apparently most people in the Upper Valley are making their hooks out of old straight pins. Staff at UVO are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and their fly selection is awesome. Hand tied flies here are affordable compared to other fly shops I'm used to, and they conveniently keep a bunch of proven local patterns that are in season right near the register so you can run in, get what you need for that afternoon, and run out. UVO staff will help you find local waters to fish in and help you figure out times of day to fish them. Be careful of the Connecticut and White Rivers rising on hot summer afternoons when they have to generate more hydroelectric power, as the pool you waded into might suddenly become too deep to wade out of! Also, when you get to the area and find out the felt-soled wading boots you brought from home are illegal here, this is where you'll need to go to remedy the situation. There is an excellent supply of fly tying materials available at UVO, and they deal in Hardy, St. Croix, and a number of other top-name rods and reels. If I lived in the Upper Valley, I'd probably hang out in this place once a week or so. The only thing I don't like about UVO is that they don't sell Vermont fishing licenses even though they're so close to the VT border. The way the state makes them available to vendors is apparently more trouble than it's worth, which is why it's so hard to find anywhere to get a license on the Vermont side of the Upper Valley. None of this, of course, is UVO's fault. So, if you're planning a fishing getaway in the Upper Valley, make sure to know where this place is and how to get here beforehand, because this resource is invaluable and necessary. I even caught fish on the flies they sold me here, which means they're not just selling pretty trinkets that only people like. Happy fishing!
