Italian hoagie - not very meaty; stale bread
Kathleen D.

Ray's is your super-typical South Jersey pizza joint. From first glance, it looks very similar to the Woodstown Joe's inside, but it's not as clean. Two guys were on the job and didn't lower their booming Spanish music when I walked in. It remained empty of other patrons throughout my visit yesterday. Ambiance aside, I was most concerned with the pizza slice. I ordered two plus an Italian hoagie. While the pizza was good, it wasn't stellar. Considering Joe's and Ciconte's are both nearby and pump out killer pies, there's no reason for me to stop in again. I was also super bummed with the hoagie. Boring, flappy meat, tasteless cheese, and thick, stale bread. They need to up their hoagie game. Oh, and my grand total for 2 normal sized slices and a sad hoagie? $12.50. Not worth the price. I'm glad to have finally experienced the place, but it's unlikely I'll return.

Pizza with flies

This place is an embarrassment of a pizza place. There were flies ALL OVER the pizza and surrounding the entire shop. Flies were even flocking in my hair. They probably procreated in there and ignited a fly family. I am very unsatisfied bringing a fly family home with me like a souvenir. The workers were aware of flies but continued working as if they were not there. This is DISGUSTING and NAUSEATING. They must not have learned about cross contamination in culinary school. Do not recommend if you don't want typhoid fever. (PS: if I could give 0 stars I would)

Almost entire pizza was burned, and unedible, too far of a drive to take it back.

When Rays first started out the pizza was really good, and so were the cheese steaks and hoagies. It seems like with most small places that get overwhelmed with volume, the quality goes down. Last time we ordered pizza we got home only to find out most of the crust was burned (not crispy). Also, beware of the owner. Friendly guy, but has a bad habit of flirting with any female that walks through the door, calling them, "girlfriend", "honey", etc. Hopefully they can get back to the quality service they used to provide. In the meantime, Cicontes seems like a better option.

It's too easy to say that this pizza is good for this area. This is just good pizza, period.

I guess like the old saying goes, "All good things must come to an end" I've been an embarrassingly…read morefrequent customer to this location since it opened. I have recommended them to people who work in the area, travel through the area, and move into the area. I started ordering less frequently when, like every restaurant, the price got a lot higher. The food was still consistent and the portions were large. Then the consistency dropped off. Pizzas were sometimes over cooked, Cheesesteaks sometimes lighter on the meat, cheese, and onions. Still they remained my go to place. Today that came to an end. I know know my deal breaker will not be everyones deal breaker but for me it was da' nail in da' coffin. They now only serve seeded rolls I don't enjoy a seeded roll, maybe I'm a minority as far as the seeded roll thing goes but it is what it is. I spent a ton of money here and definitely gained some pounds. No hard feelings old friend. Its time I explore the many other Pizza joints in the 08085 zip code. If in the future if the non-seeded rolls come back maybe we will rebuild our relationship.

Another Instagram account I've been following for quite a while has been this mobile pizza truck. I've been in love with their content of the wood fired oven and the pizza's that they've been showing off. Follow their page to see where they will be on any particular day. Here, I caught them at Bonesaw Brewing Co. in Glassboro. First off, Brett and his team are a bunch of cool people with great personalities that genuinely love what they do and are having a lot of fun doing it! If there's ever a group of dudes you'd want to crack a beer with at the end of a hard day, these guys would be your crowd. Aside from that, they are putting out some amazing pies. I got a plain with half sausage and jalapeno as well as the grandma. If you think these are burnt, well, you may just be used to convection oven pizza. This char from the wood fire oven was perfect, just how I love a well-done pizza. The crust is thin, the ingredients are quality, and a beer to wash it all down was just the perfect compliment. Follow their page, see where they will be, try them out, and you will fall in love. They're worth the trip if you don't live close by.

I tried out two different pizzas, one with jalapenos and ricotta and the other was a cheese steak pizza. Both had a very great flavor profile. The only thing I'd adjust is to add more jalapenos, :) I'll also say that the service was also very good. Definitely a returner for me.
