We made an apt to have our vehicle worked on this past Thursday. (Replace the Engine cooling fan…read moreclutch) We have been told us in the past to just drop our vehicles off without an apt. but since there have been repeated issues of it taking so long to get our vehicle back we made sure to schedule an appointment this time. We were told by the owner we could drop the car off on Wednesday evening. We did. The side we would normally park on was full of other people's cars so we parked on the other side.....still on their property and still in plain view. We left a note in the car asking him to look at an issue that just came up in the last few days with the oil gauge going crazy. (I should also mention that a few weeks prior to this our vehicle was here having a repair done and we requested that they look everything over and make sure all was good as my husband was getting ready to go out of town for work. He specifically asked them to look at the oil levels and make sure that all was still good on that end and if an oil change was needed to go ahead and do it before he left for his trip) Anticipating being able to pick our vehicle up on Thursday evening as promised we called the shop phone to check on the car later Thursday afternoon. No answer, so he left a voicemail. Hours later that evening still no response. Shop was closed so there was no point in calling the shop again. The next morning the owner did call us, but only to tell us he forgot that he was supposed to be working on our vehicle because it was parked on the other side. ??? So, he worked on it on Friday. By time the owner called Friday evening just before 6:00 to tell us he was done working on our vehicle we were headed out to dinner with family that is in town for a visit. My husband said we would come by later to pick it up, not giving a specific time. We knew they were closed and we had family in......they didn't uphold their end of the deal with working on it on Thursday and having it ready and we couldn't rearrange our plans anymore than we already had to due to the car not being ready when promised. We were also told (only then) that the issue with the oil gauge was that our car was 4 quarts low on oil (how does it go from the oil being fine and does not need to even be changed to being 4 quarts low on oil in a matter of just a few weeks??) and a repair needed to be done (the variable valve timing solenoid needed to be replaced) that would cost an additional around $150 plus the cost of adding the needed engine oil. Not once did the owner call us earlier in the day and let us know what the problem was, how much additional it was going to cost to fix it, and ask us what we wanted to do about it. He just fixed it and gave us the total amount that we owed for all of the repairs. So today I go to pay and pick up our vehicle. Before I left my hubby told me that the owner had told him because we have a history of ALWAYS paying our bill completely in full, that if ever the bill was really high and needed to be split into payments it would be fine. So he asked me if I would ask the owner (since they added more to the bill without our knowledge or consent) if we could pay half of the bill today and then pay the other half next Friday (only six days away). The owners wife was taking my payment and I was very quickly given a "NO!" For an answer with the explanation of "well you can but we don't like to because people have told us they were going to pay and then never paid in the past and then we can't pay our bills" (that has NEVER been the case with us!!) and that if we could not pay the full amount today that they would charge us a five dollar a day garage fee until we could pay the full amount because they would not give us our car back. (keep in mind that in the past they have had a vehicle of ours for at least a month because they took forever to even look at it) I handed her my debit card and said "OK just wanted to ask especially since more was added to the bill without our knowledge". She huffed and called the owner into the room. When he came I simply started to tell him what hubby asked me to say. However I only got a few words into it before his wife started raising her voice and slapping her hands together saying "NO, HE IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE WHAT I SAID. THAT IS OUR POLICY" my eyes got huge because I could not wrap my brain around the rudeness and I said "I was not trying to get him to change what you said I was just going to tell him the situation and explain why you called him in the room. You really need to calm down." (When he came into the room his wife did not start saying anything so I assume and she was waiting for me to give an exclamation of why he was needed. I in no way was trying to talk over her or before her) The owner did nothing but walk away. All of this was done in front of my teenage daughter and her friend. We will not be back and would not recommend this business to anyone!
