I put in a diagnostic request for my mother in law's 2009 Kia Rondo. She doesn't have much money,…read moreso I was hoping to try and save her some money. I had to have a tow truck it to her address due to it not wanting to start in Park, I found out though that the shifter was very stiff as well and would only move when I used the bypass button. I couldn't get it to start but the tow truck driver showed me that it would start in neutral using the bypass switch and shift into gear but when in park it would still move. So, we didn't want to risk driving it to her house and so we had it towed. The tow truck driver said any mechanic should be able to fix that for you with no problem. So, I called Adkins that evening, and he diagnosed it the next day. He said, he tore the whole console apart, even tested the neutral safety switch but it was seized and couldn't be moved out of neutral. He told me it starts but will not shift. I was told the rod was welded internally within the transmission. I thanked him for his time and effort and he was paid by my mother in law. We'll, then myself and a friend came over and found the shifter was indeed froze in neutral, but after we re-tore the console back apart, and diagnosing it ourself we got it to shift. Took it to a transmission shop, who said this is not a transmission problem at all. We were told to take it to a mechanic and that it's either in the shifter itself or the cable, but definitely nothing to do with the transmission. The mechanic from Adkins confirmed over and over that he's torn many of these apart and he knows his stuff when it comes to vehicles. The question is, then why did he not diagnose the issue correctly and refer me to a transmission shop who then sent me back to a mechanic. I got the shifter out of neutral but he couldn't. He said he tested the neutral safety switch but it didn't look like it had been touched. I'm just saying, I will never trust this company to touch another vehicle of mine. Didn't seem to know as much as he claimed. Did not give a correct diagnosis and still took my mother in laws money. You decide what's right or if you would trust this mechanic.​

I have been a customer of Rays Garage since 1990..that makes a total of 34 years…read more For many of those years I operated a fleet of six (6) vehicles, all at one time, on a non-commercial application, that is to say a house hold with six (6) operators of six (6) vehicles. During these 34 years never have I felt over charged for the vast array of repairs this family owned business has provided. There is a cliche at says "you can't fix stupid"; however, on multiple occasions Ray's Garage has proven that "stupid" can be fixed when they have repaired vehicles that were mechanically damaged when one (1) of the six (6) operators did something "stupid". The level of customer service and quality work performed at Rays Garage is the only reason I have never searched for another automotive repair provider. I believe 34 years of a business relationship would lead a prudent person to realize this business is an asset to the community.
