From exquisite chandeliers, chairs galore hanging from the ceiling, pictures on the walls and artists renderings by Hemingway, this store has what any treasure hunter would be looking for. Raymond's could almost benefit from an intervention from Hoarders but he and anyone else working there had a sharp eye on customers ready to help at any time. Every item was catalogued and priced and they usually knew the history of their acquisition. At moments creepy, which was actually exciting, the items included a dusty carved oriental dividers,!oriental chests and oriental dolls from china town. Beautiful furniture items like chests, polished mahogany accent tables, and china cabinets were stacked in, sometimes ceiling to floor. Don't expect to get a steal, expect to find a fairly priced resource for decorating your home with charm and an eclectic look. The most amazing item to me was a huge gold framed oil painting reminiscent of what you'd see on a wall in Downton Abbey, priced at $12,000. Pieces from the 70's added to the strange array but my favorite was an oval antique mirror with a thick very dark wood carved frame for $59. Feeling overwhelmed I sadly didn't buy it. Next time I'll be back with a plan and know that the inventory will be the same but different. A must see on a tour of Sarasota! read more
