But I have to say, the COVID precautions at Oak Valley Dental are top-notch. They make sure you're not mingling with other patients as you move through the waiting area to your exam room. Each exam room has an air filter scrubbing the air. My hygienist and dentist are both vaccinated (as am I) and were double-masked. And they streamline the bill paying so you're not waiting at the front desk for payment to process. I was impressed both with how they adapted to the pandemic and to see that the first-rate skill and service I've come to expect from them had not suffered. And I can now relax back into my pre-pandemic 6-month schedule. Whoo-hoo!!

I really appreciate being seen on time every time. The hygienists I've had have been great. They seem to use newer, more updated equipment than what Dr Tar's office had before. For example, my teeth are first cleaned with a water pick type tool that is efficient and effective (though sometimes a little splashy - close your eyes). It greatly reduces the amount of time spent with the old school scraping tool. X-rays seem updated as well. I'm consistently in and out in under an hour. Easy parking on site.

It's run by a husband & wife team of Dr. Kim and Dr. Ma, so it felt good knowing that I was supporting a local business instead of some corporate franchise. The person at the front desk (I think her name was Niki) was very helpful when I was filling out my forms and explained to me what was covered through my UofM grad student insurance, along with other logistics related things. I'm usually not good with paperwork, so her help was very much appreciated! After the initial examination, I learned that I had a filling that came loose and some minor gingivitis (which was expected since my teeth have been bothering me for a while now), and Dr. Ma explained her treatment plan for me in a way that I could actually understand. I should mention that I usually get very anxious when it comes to dentists, but Dr. Ma's gentle approach helped alleviate some of that anxiety. Oh yeah, and the hygienist was super thorough. Like, it felt like she got to parts of my mouth that I didn't even know existed. Quick Edit: my boyfriend recently went to Choice Dental after I pestered him about his dental health situation. He's just as weary of dentists as I am, so I was really relieved when he told me that he had a good experience with Dr. Kim. A chain (message me if you want to avoid them) that would always cancel your approintments the week of, offering you an appointment you couldn't make or an appointment 5 months off. And everytime you'd go, different dentist. Nice. So, when I changed jobs, my wife and I looked for a new dentist. Little researcher that she is, she found Dr. Choi at Choice Dental, which is on South Main just across from the stadium in that office building with the parking underneath. Not only is the office pleasant and the staff very friendly and competant, but the service is just outstanding. Everytime I'd turn around, he'd have something new and techy, from the tiny camera he used to take pics of my teeth so I could see what was going on to the program he used to show my how my teeth were going to move. Better yet, when I went for my cleaning, the DENTIST did the whole cleaning. Not a 2 minute consult. The WHOLE cleaning. Long story short, this dentist will make you feel like you're back in time, with a dentist who's good at what he does and actually gives a damn about you. Old school. HOLISTIC…read more Unbelievable! I have been all over the Internet trying to find a local dentist who has expertise in doing a ceramic implant. Most dentists use titanium in your gums and them top it with a ceramic crown. Instead, I wanted all ceramic. I didn't want any more metal in my mouth. Dr. Jung is prepared to do this for me. I'm ecstatic that we made an appointment to get my work started. In addition to being knowledgeable, Dr. Jung has a very kind and caring demeanor. I think he is Ann Arbor's best-kept secret. Eun-Young was difficult for me to understand while over the phone. That was probably my 'old' ears. In the office, she was delightful and very helpful. Eun-Young is obviously very knowledgeable regarding dentistry and an asset to the office. I'll be back to do another review after the work is completed, but for now, I am very pleased with the consultation. If you are looking for a holistic dentist consider Dr. Jung. If you use Dr. Jung tell him, "Sharon sent you." I told him I was going to spread the word about full ceramic implants. :)

I was a patient of Julie's from 2008-2009 and during that time she did 13 fillings for me. I loved…read moreher staff and her, her service was great, but I feel the need to write a review after a serious error on her part. All 13 of the fillings she did have been replaced from 2012 - now. I've been to 2 dentists who both couldn't believe the job she had done. 2 of the fillings broke out when I was flossing, while the rest have either left gaps where food gets stuck and leaves me with irritated gums or they're so sharp, I constantly break floss. In fact, my husband was a patient of hers as well and his fillings she did are all being replaced. I should also mention she charged me $500 for a service that is normally free at other dentist offices. She's very sweet, but the initial fillings costed us time and money and replacing them has not been cheap or a great experience. I feel bad for referring my mother who had a very expensive bridge done by her that was replaced less than 4 years later (her bridge before lasted 20 years). I cannot in good conscience recommend her to anyone, which is a shame, because I really liked her.
