I used to come here when I was young and now I take my 2yr son here it nice to see Josie and Lorena are still there as well as Dr Wong who is my sons dentist. Even though Dr Katz was always mine I used to see Dr Wong Who treated my brother at the time. Although my son is only 2 the whole staff has so much patience with him while he cries they know exactly what to do and how to go about taking fear out of him! After finding this practice on Yelp I took my 3 y/o daughter for her first dentist visit today. Katie M's review seemed pretty serious and honest so I requested Dr. Wong and I'm so thankful I did. I had multiple unprofessional interactions with Dr. Katz in my short 20 minute appointment and the appointment wasn't even with him! On the flip side Ruth and Dr. Wong were INCREDIBLE! Ruth was very sweet with my daughter and let her play with all the instruments before using them to clean her teeth. Dr. Wong was smart, kind and professional. I have no idea why her and Ruth work at this practice. Dr. Katz made a racist joke about Dr. Wong's last name, kept touching my leg when I was sitting with my daughter and then spoke too closely to both of our faces which lead to me asking him to leave immediately. Very creepy situation. He seemed under the influence and disheveled with several spots on his face he missed shaving in addition to poor dental hygiene. I want to take my daughter back here since everyone but Dr. Katz were amazing. Maybe I'm crazy. I'm curious if any other parent's experience was similar to mine. read more

We highly highly recommend Dr Katz! My boys have been seeing Dr Katz (and now some of his associates) for about ten years. They are ALWAYS on time, courteous, organized and friendly. The front office and the back office is SUPER clean and kid friendly. For cleanings, at check-in, they always start the kids off with a brushing, and the hygienist promptly follows with a thorough cleaning, and Dr Katz follows with a check-up. Very efficient. Nice part is that I can schedule all 3 boys at one time, and be in and out in no time at all. Dr Katz is also talented in that he can make very realistic bird sounds. I'm still nauseated when I think about what happened when I took my son to Dr. Katz on Tuesday. This is the longest and most humiliating review I've ever posted on Yelp, but please bear with me. We've seen Dr. Wong, one of Dr. Katz's associates, over the past 2.5 years, and had a really wonderful experience with her and all of the staff. I've enthusiastically recommended the office to countless friends, but had never met Dr. Katz during that time. We met for the first (and hopefully only) time on Tuesday. Dr. Katz started out very bubbly and friendly when he came to greet us in the waiting area, and seemed to be making a good connection with my son. He made some comments about his college son who's off on a study abroad program chasing "frauleins" and then commented that I'd have to keep the little girls away from my son. Then said something like "oh - he gets it from mom - you're cute!" [Not that it matters ONE BIT, but I was in jeans, sneakers, a hoodie, and wearing absolutely no makeup.] I laughed it off, thinking that was as far as he was going to go with comments on my appearance. We go back and spend some time with the dental assistant, who was great with my son. Then Dr. Katz came back and brought Dr. Wong, the woman dentist we've seen before, to confirm his diagnosis of my son. As we're wrapping up and Dr. Wong and the assistant are still sitting there, he says to me, "How do you look in an evening dress?" Stunned, I shoot back, "How do you look in an evening dress?!" I look over at Dr. Wong with a "get a load of this guy" look on my face but she's not giving me eye contact. He then goes on and on about what I "knockout" I am, how great I'd look in 3-inch heels with my hair up, etc., then asks for a hug. I positioned my son in front of me so that he basically gave my son a hug. At this point, I'm feeling embarrassed and getting creeped out. We get up to leave, and he's still talking to me...tells me he's only ever "been with" two women (one of which is his current wife of 32 years) and I remind him of his first real girlfriend. He says he was "in heaven" because "it was after the pill and before AIDS." I'm pretty floored at this point. Blah, blah, blah...more talking at me, then asks for a 3-way hug, during which I still position my son in front of me, and he KISSES ME ON THE CHEEK as he hugs us. I want to throw up as I type that, and am mortified that it happened. He tells me that he's still in touch with that ex-girlfriend that I remind him of and that she's now a calligrapher. He points to a piece she did for him that's hanging on the wall down the hall near the front desk, and I ask him to show me so that we can start getting closer to the front door and I can get out of there. As we walk, he says, "I think she thinks I'm a stalker!" This makes me incredibly uncomfortable, as all my contact info is readily available to this guy. All of this took place in the open - there are no closed off exam rooms in the office. I have already talked to my pediatrician's office and they have removed him from their list of recommended pediatric dentists. 'I have been bringing my 3 daughters here for several years, and have had great experiences each time. We have seen Dr. Wong and Dr. Young and have been very happy with both. Also, the hygienists are all very patient & sweet & made my (young - they all started at age 2) kids feels comfortable and coooperative. One note - we have not seen Dr. Katz for an actual appointment, but in my limited initial interaction with him, I felt that he provided too much personal information. Since that initial visit, I have not even seen him in the office on any of our visits. That being said, it has not deterred us in the slightest from seeking consistent treatment from this wonderful office! read more

We found this pediatric dentist via Yelp after moving here from Canada. I brought my two kids (4 and 2) for their 6 month check-up. The hygienists and Dr. Hsu were great with my kids and made them feel at ease by taking it slow and show them all the dental tools, brushes, floss, etc. I really appreciate the clean office and early morning appointments (8:20am) as bring two kids for their check-ups on a weekday can be tough for a working mom/dad. All in all, a very positive experience for both my kids! We're looking forward to our next visit in 6 months! read more

My son is a future hoarder and that includes his teeth! I dunno, I thought by age nine, one was supposed to lose more than four baby teeth. Unless his gums are super-strengthed, then he is again a late bloomer! We selected this dental office based on my neice's experiences. She is now a young adult and has been coming to this office for years. As a matter of fact, she likes it so much, she still comes to this office! I guess alot of young adults feel the same way becuase the practice is no longer limited to "children" but to "Children and YOUNG ADULTS" (oh, those Generation Y-ers!) We love Dr. Wong in this dental office. Also the dental hygienist in the Elephant cubby is super patient and really makes an effort to draw my shy little 4 yo out. Very kid friendly and my little guy loves to get his prizes after a cleaning. They are very respectful of what he wants and doesn't want, which right now is not to get into dental chair. read more

I had always loved this practice. Everyone at the front desk is welcoming. That is a plus for me. Customer Service is important when someone walks through your front door! My son had his first dental experience last December. This is a late post! I feared being 3 years old and all that he would give them a hard time since he is such an active boy that just cannot sit still. He is here and there, up and down. A lot of energy for a Preschooler. It was an amazing experience for all of us to see. He had his older sister and brother in one chair. All three sitting across from each other and Mikey was thrilled. Asked questions and laid down so patiently. Learned all the new cool tools they used while cleaning. When he had first met Dr. Baumgartner, it was love at first sight. They connected right away and ever since then. It has been a breeze at every visit. I look forward to many more future visits. We've only had 3 so far. I absolutely love this office! We took my daughter (she just turned 2) and they were soo incredibly nice! The hygienist talked her through everything. Even had a little stuff alligator with teeth in the dental chair to show my daughter what was going to happen. My daughter was a bit of a deer in headlights but did everything they told her to and corporated. At home she hasn't been the biggest fan of brushing teeth but when we got home she wanted to brush her teeth. Dr. Young is also very sweet and talked her through every step. They also have morning appointments and the receptionist is very friendly. read more

This is a review for the office generally and for Dr. Svensson specifically. I took my two sons (9 and 6) to the dentist yesterday for sealants and, for the younger, a filing. They were a bit nervous, but Dr. Svensson was great at putting them at ease. She has a really great "bedside" manner and even my older son, who tends to be a bit more nervous, sailed through the process (relatively) unscathed. Five stars for the front office staff and dental hygienists. However my family had a really uncomfortable experience with Dr. Katz. Earlier this summer both of my children had their first and LAST appointment with him. He was completely unprofessional, touching their legs and mine, making inappropriate comments towards and about my son. He talked non-stop about his wife, family and ex-girlfriend in unwanted detail. All of this in front of my kids, other patients and his work colleagues. He held my hand and recommended I come back for a quick appointment (that he wouldn't charge me for) to chat about the next steps in my sons dental care once we had seen a specialist he was referring us too. When leaving he followed us all the way to the front door, it was obvious I was becoming more and more uncomfortable and wanted to leave but couldn't get away from him, my saving grace was one of the receptionists who could see what was going on and shouted over "you probably need to check your parking meter", that was my out. I should have left earlier but I was in shock - he was recommended by a friend - and I didn't want to create a scene in front of my kids. Like a previous poster stated you start to think it's you that's the crazy one, not so, stay away! read more

I am not one to usually post on Yelp but after the experience I had two days ago, I felt compelled to write. Two days ago, I brought my daughter for her 4:30pm appointment. We arrived at 4:13pm and wondered if we would be taken early. As we walked in, the receptionist said, "Your appointment was at 4p". I was surprised and commented that I thought I was arriving early, not late! I apologized and explained that the information I had clearly stated 4:30p. It didn't even cross my mind that a 13 minute discrepancy would be an issue, but was told that it would be up to the dentist if we would be seen!!! I was beyond shocked, to say the least. My children have been patients of this practice for over 10 years. I can not remember a time when we arrived for our scheduled appointment and were taken right away. We always had to wait at least 5-10 minutes because they were running behind schedule. It always bothered me that though we arrived on time, we had to wait. It was as if our time was not as important as the dentist's....Now the shoe was on the other foot and we were told that because we were late we would not be seen!!! It's OK for us to wait for them, but they can't wait for us??? The dentist came out to the waiting area and started to discuss my daughter's dental case. I expressed my concern that she was speaking to me in a public place and asked if we could continue our discussion with my daughter in the dental chair. She said that there would be no time for the appointment but if we insisted, we could speak in the back. She reluctantly took us back and let my daughter sit in the chair while she proceeded to explain why there was not enough time for the appointment. In the time they took to tell us why we couldn't be seen, the work could have been done!!! In all my years of dental appointments, I have NEVER experienced anything like this. There was a discrepancy in the time of our appointment, which resulted in our arrival being 13 minutes later than it should have been and we were refused treatment. This is not what I consider Customer Service. I have found a new dentist for my children and will never refer anyone to this practice ever again. After my taking my daughter to her second appointment with Dr. Katz, I have decided that we will never return, as he seems more interested in politics than he does his practice. On my second visit, I was wearing a Trump t-shirt and this really seemed to peeve Dr. Katz. Even though my sweatshirt wasn't provocative or offensive, it was more than obvious that he was irritated by me wearing it in his office. He was nothing like the goofy dentist that we experienced on our first trip (prior to him knowing my political views) and now he looked to take subtle verbal jabs at me and to my daughter. After his checkup on my daughter, he gave me an overview of my daughters appointment, which was condescending. Like when he pushed for us to get her x-rays for the 2nd time that year, I exclaimed how I didn't have the money and he states "Yea and Trump is going to help you with that." I thought he was joking around and laughed it off but there was no smile on his face. In the car, my daughter commented on how he was making fun of my shirt. Dr. Katz has no right to be making these comments, especially to my daughter. While I wouldn't say that he gave my daughter bad dental service due to my political views, he certainly made a point to chastise me for them. read more

We absolutely love Dr. Bumgartner at this office. He has a very friendly demeanor and is naturally great with children! When we discovered that our 3 year old daughter had a small cavity, I was terrified. I was afraid that she would be scared of the treatment, that she would cry, that it would hurt, that she wouldn't cooperate - I was afraid of many things. Long story short - none of my fears ever materialized. Doctor Bumgartner did an amazing job earning my child's trust, as well as making the whole experience painless and stress-free. He also took the time to answer all our questions and explained what we can do to prevent future cavities from appearing. Also, I'd like to mention Lena, the dental assistant. She is amazing, very warm and patient. If you are looking for a great pediatric dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Bumgartner. read more

Our family has been to at least 80 appointments in this practice over 15 years. My three children, now 20, 17, and 14, have been treated respectfully and kindly by every dentist, assistant, and hygienist in the practice. We have never once had a billing or scheduling problem, and have not waited in the waiting room more than five minutes. (That said, we have normally visited during non-peak times during the school day.) Fillings have always been done quickly, often that same day of discovery. Dr. Wong in particular has given up several partial and entire lunch hours so we didn't have to come back for another appointment. I continue to recommend this practice to friends with young children, especially if they are fearful. The hygienists are very skilled at getting the kids to relax and the large-scale, colorful animal murals help set a positive tone for the visits. Regarding a recent post about Dr. Katz's conduct in the office, I have never felt harassed or uncomfortable, and have not overheard anything but friendly conversation in adjacent chairs over the years. Dr. Katz is a strong personality by anyone's definition. He is gregarious and often goofy with the kids, but I've not heard him cross the line into inappropriate comments or harassment. He is a proud father who is clearly close to his only son, and he is quick to tell you what his son is up to. Over the years he has mentioned being married a long time but has never over-shared anything on that subject. read more

I'm not one to do reviews on yelp but i feel i have to tell people how amazing this entire office is! I personally have been going to doctor Katz for 19 years along with my 2 sisters and he is amazing!! Dr. Katz really does make kids feel comfortable, he has this magical way of making the dentist FUN " i know it sounds crazy but its true!" this office is also really quick and easy with fillings, i have had a few and they really do make it simple and judgement free zone :) the best part for the kids is they really take the time to show u and teach u what u need to do at home instead of cleaning and send them home like other dentists, oh and of course kids get really cool toys!! not only have i been a patient for my whole life but i now have 2 boys with teeth. i have looked at a lot of dentists in my area (because i moved) and i found a lot of great ones that use a similar approach but i found myself still not liking them at all in comparison to the amazing dentist i have had all these years. this is the one and only dentist office i trust with my kids they work as a team like a family and i will never switch! i love Dr. Katz and i recommend him to everyone but especially difficult children because he's so kind and patient. read more

I wish there were more stars to tell you how much we love, appreciate and highly recommend Dr. Katz! My highly sensitive four year old had two cavities filled and I was a nervous wreck about it! From the moment we walked into the office, they made my son feel so comfortable! He had no idea it was a big deal to have cavities filled! We were given a VIP tour and walked through the procedure with Dr. Katz- showing us all the cool tools and equipment. He put us both at ease and the whole procedure was so quick and painless! Ok, I know this is going to be a WTF moment for you reading this, but I am a grown married woman with 3 sons. Dr. Katz was my dentist growing up as well as my grown adult siblings. I stopped seeing Dr. Katz when I was 18y/o bc i refused to go anywhere else. When my kids became of age to start seeing a dentist I wished i could find someone like Dr.Katz and to my surprise he was still in business. Thank God! Although it is rare that he sees my kids being he juggles 2 offices, his staff is remarkable, Dr. Wong and Dr. Young are so great with kids and interact really well with them and know exactly how to put them at ease. Both my daughters go here since they were toddlers and they love this dentist office. The dentists and staff are gentle and non scary. We have had Dr. Katz, and recently, Dr. Jenny Wong. Both are great. Dr. Wong came in the evening on night when we had a dental emergency and we were so appreciative. They make going to the dentist as fun as it can be. The office gives out stickers and small toys to make teeth cleaning more enjoyable. They also have been very good when we had extractions. Thumbs up. read more

Most outstanding practice for my children who have had many dental needs in their years. They really understand how to take the scare out of being at the dentist. My favorite dentist there is Dr Wong. She's not as hand holding as the others but she's fast and very technically gifted in her work. Obviously everyone loves Ruth as hygienist. This practice is amazing! My son went for his very first dentist visit and he had a great experience. We were seen by Ms. Karen and Dr. Young. My almost 3 yr old son loved every moment of it and asked when he can come back. Everyone was very welcoming and knew just how to make him more relaxed. I also like the fact that the office is not covered in TV screens for the kids to watch. Instead they have great animal paintings on the walls. The whole process took about half an hour and everyone came out smiling. So glad we found this practice! read more

AMAZING! Dr. Katz and the others in his office are phenomenal professionals. We took my 1.5 year old son here recently after having had a rather traumatic experience at another pediatric dentist's office. Dr. Katz was very disarming (not the mention, hilarious) and knew how to engage our son who was still recovering from his first dentist visit at the other practice. FANTASTIC! Dr Katz is an absolute genius with the kids. I took both my kids there for the third time (one "get to know you", one teeth cleanning, and one cavity for my 5 year old). My kids are actually excited to go to the dentist . Dr Katz and everyone in the office make the whole experience nonthreatening and actually fun. I found Dr. Katz to be brilliant when it comes to reducing anxiety and relating to kids. My school age adopted dtr was terrified of going to the dentist as she had been to dental clinics in the past and had not had good dental experiences. Dr. Katz came out and met her at eye level in the waiting room and talked directly to her and immediately calmed her down. It was if he was using some sort of Ericksonian hypnosis technique! He gave her a tour of the clinic and introduced her to everyone and promised her that she would not experience any pain in his office. She had a great time and left feeling good about the dentist! She had to go back to have a cavity filled and saw one of his woman associates. She was not as warm or patient, although my daughter still had an okay experience. I will only have Dr. Katz treat my daughter though. read more

We love Dr.Katz and the staff. We have been gong to hisoffice for 10 years. All fears aside for my children when they step in the office. The staff keep the children engaged the entire appointment. Dr.Katz is the absolute, all time best!! We have been through many dentists who were truly good dentists, but pediatric dentistry is a fine art. There is SO much more that needs to happen than to just be a good dentist. Making a child ( and parents ) feel comfortable, safe and supported is a huge thing and Dr. Katz goes WAY above and beyond this call of duty. My children ( 5 and almost 7) adore him, going to the dentist ( even after having an extraction ) is a huge treat and they count down the days until they see Dr.Katz again with excitement. He and his team are fast at the job, (and do a wonderful job) explain every step along the way and make sure everyone leaves happy. Dr. Katz and his lovely team are SO GOOD in fact, that after having a few cavities filled and some teeth re composited the FIRST thing my 5 year old said was " Can't we just come here every day?!!" I don't write Yelp reviews, but after my experience this morning, I feel compelled to share my experience. My one year old daughter fell on a tile floor and broke half of her front tooth. I took her to see Dr. Baumgartner and I can't believe how horribly he treated me. While he was gentle with my daughter (sort of), he was dismissive of my questions and incredibly condescending. As her parent, I am entitled to ask any question I need to about her health and well-being and Dr. Baumgartner could not have been more rude. He was very judgmental and made me feel horrible - and trust me, I'm hard enough on myself as it is. I will never go back to this office again and would not recommend them to anyone. Dr. Katz is, by far, the best dentist I have ever encountered. When I was a much younger patient (in my toddler years), I had a lot of trouble with cavities. He went out of his way to make me comfortable and happy during one of the most uncomfortable medical procedures a toddler can experience. He is incredibly kind-hearted, very funny, and a true expert in his field. I took my daughter, who is almost two, to Dr. Katz's office for her first dental appointment today. We had a great experience. My daughter tends to get anxious around strangers and was initially upset. Aida, one of the dental assistants, did a phenomenal job making my daughter feel comfortable, showing her stuffed animals, demonstrating how to brush her teeth, and playing around with the equipment. My daughter didn't like it when Dr. Katz examined her mouth, but he did it quickly and reassured me that her teeth were great (I was concerned that some discoloration might be cavities). I love Dr. Katz & Dr. Ahlfleld!!! I went to their office for about 23yrs. My two young children see Dr. A now. Dr. K and Dr. A are both great with children. Dr. K is upbeat and funny, and sings to the kids. Dr. A has a mellow, soothing voice, and makes bird sounds. Both are very patient and have a gentle touch with all characters that walk through the door. Not to mention the prizes, which are always a treat for the kids!!! read more
