What an unbelievably quaint and cute state park. I've been to every part of Oklahoma except southeastern Oklahoma, so I was more than giddy to see just how different it was from the rest of Oklahoma.
Anywho, I was on a business trip to Idabel and thought that I'd stop at RGSP since it was on the way. Boy, was I glad I did! RGSP isn't a very big state park by any means, but it makes up for that with its charm.
On my visit, I noticed that a new solid-surface walking trail had been installed and appeared to circle most of the lake. (I didn't have enough time to walk the entire trail or I would have.) The primitive tent sites and cabins all appeared to be well maintained, which is always a plus. The facilities also were very well kept up.
I really lucked out on my visit since it was right in middle of when the fall colors start blanketing the trees! I'd recommend that anyone that is in the area stop by and take a look as I have a feeling that a lot of people in Oklahoma haven't heard of RGSP and would be pleasantly surprised this little gem exists! read more
