We dined at Simurgh on a Saturday night by accident. We hadn't made any reservations anywhere and…read moreevery place we tried was completely booked. We happened upon Simurgh and decided to give it a try. We were a little skeptical because there was only one other table at 7pm. There was also only one person working and she spoke very little English. It took her a bit of time to give us menus because she was bringing out food to another table and since there was nobody else working, it took some time to get menus. We debated walking out but are so glad we decided to stay. I actually pulled up google translate on my phone to communicate. It worked great! The food was EXCELLENT! We had beef, veal and chicken kabobs, crispy rice, some kind of yummy dip/appetizer and a cucumber and tomato salad. Oh, and a huge ice cream for dessert! Everything was delicious and tasted homemade. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was clean and pretty. We will definitely be back. Our server who is also the manager said they do a lot of take out and we saw a few people come in and pick up orders while we dined. If you like Persian food and can get past the language barrier you will love this restaurant!

When we arrived for dinner around 6:30 on a Saturday we were the only group in the restaurant for the longest time. (around 8 pm another group walked in). I am wondering if it gets busier later at night as they do have live music later in the evening (it was being set up as we were leaving) and it looks like they are also a shisha lounge. Menu has a good selection of kebabs, chicken, lamb and ground beef and a selection of stews. All the kebab combos come with rice, grilled tomatoes and pickled onions. We didn't see a huge offering of appetizers or desserts. The server was really helpful in answering any questions we had about the menu The kebabs were incredibly moist and flavourful, especially the ground beef. At the front of the restaurant there is a sign advertising a 19.99 special. The sign is not in English but from the picture it looks like a take out special. Interestingly enough the take out special is a better deal than if you ate in the restaurant. The meal came with a kebab meal, a stew and a side salad whereas the meal we ordered as sit down customers did not come with any of this. We enjoyed our meal as the food was really good and we absolutely did not feel rushed.
