Located along a long straight stretch of I-40 (between mile marker 207 and 208), this rest area was perfect for a night's rest in the Sprinter van. Designed with a parking area for cars immediately in front of the rest area building and further down, parking for about a dozen trucks, there is also a separate "loop" area with breeze block picnic areas. Decently lit at night.
When I arrived, I pulled into the loop area and backed the van up to one of the picnic areas for some shelter from the wind. Otherwise, I'd have been rocked by the cross breeze that night. Locked up and went to sleep.
I was not at all disturbed by the noise as it's a good distance from the highway. I was also troubled for sleeping in the rest area. In the morning, I woke up and hit the road. I did not use the rest room in the rest area. Just wake up and go.
Five stars for this rest area that is about an hour west of Albuquerque. There is another on the opposite side of the highway that looks to be laid out exactly the same.
