After a long time of being on the road it was so nice to be able to check into this nice little place. I made the reservation the reservation the night before. I wish I would've done it sooner since I would've loved to stay in the Big Texas or El Matador room I stayed at the Pin-Up room. As soon as I walked in I noticed how fresh the room smelled. Nothing too strong, just clean. The room it was nicely decorated to the theme. It also had all the things you would find a a hotel. I loved how the room became completely dark and I was able to get a good nights rest. The only thing is that the next morning with other guest checking out it was loud and made it hard to sleep in. So, I got up and went to the front office and I was able to get some hot tea and read my Bible. They had plenty of breakfast options to choose from. It's more of a grab and go. This area is only open till 9:30. Plan accordingly

The Raton Pass Motor Inn is a small, quirky motel on the north end of Raton, New Mexico. The rooms are all very retro in their designs and furnishings. I found the place very interesting. The proprietors are very friendly and accommodating. If you want high-gloss modernity in your room accommodations, this place is probably not for you. But if you want to stay someplace with a memorable, quaint vibe, you will enjoy the Raton Pass Motor Inn. Their rooms each have their own motif. The decor of Room #13 is dedicated to vintage horror movies. I was particularly amused by the shower curtain in room #13 (see the accompanying photo).

The answer is yes! Decided to stay here after experiencing tired lodging options in Raton. Absolutely loved it! This is the perfect example of a classic motor inn. It's like staying at your favorite aunt's house with all of the nostalgia. It's not a chain hotel and I couldn't be happier. There is genuine friendliness and warmth from the owners. It's clean, priced well and just what was needed. You park in front of your room if not a space or two away. While the main strip in Raton can be noisy, this is a quiet area of town. Everything in Raton is no more than 10 minutes away. Their website lists room themes and bed sizes. The room of choice on this visit was the Boudoir Room / Pin-up room. King bed, a/c, tv, mini fridge, microwave, clean room and bathroom. Vintage items in the room including old cameras and media and a cool mirrored desk. This gets a definite Gumby thumbs up!

What a cool inn, Michael And Brandy are amazing owners. They make you feel like family and the rooms are great. Each room is themed differently with cool items to make the stay that much more fun. They have an outdoor area to sit and enjoy the weather and views. The area has a fire pit, bbq pit, and a hammock We stayed in room #4 Humans Best Friend, as you can see from the room name it is dog themed. The are pet friendly and just need to be notified while booking. The room itself has plenty of room with a small dresser and desk. There is a tv, mini fridge and microwave to round it all out. The beds are memory foam and really comfortable . At least for me they were. There is an area to walk the pups with bags and a trash can. The views from the Inn are spectacular. Anyway you look at it, the Motor Pass Inn is a great little place that you will love to stay at time and time again.

We have stayed here 2x's and will be staying again on our way back home! THIS place is unique funky clean fun friendly guaranteed to provide spectacular backdrops for those that like social media and taking photographs - in the rooms and outside around the motel grounds. The couple that own this epic motel are beyond kind. They remembered us and greeted us with a friendly 'great to have you back!' after being here 1 time 9 months ago! They are happy to give any suggestions of things you are looking for around the town. There is a pizza and beer place walking distance! (Bruno's on Cook). There are an assortment of rooms to choose from. Read about each one carefully on their website. I think only a couple of them are pet friendly. There are limited room, so make plans in advance! I think they stay pretty full.

We stayed in room 1 (Santa Fe Trail) on 6/25/2021 and it is an amazing property with great (new) owners!  The room was clean and super sweet.  We loved the decorative touches and comfy beds.  The water bottles and coffee kits were such a nice amenity!  The seating areas around the property encourage guest interaction, but sadly, we were the only ones interacting that night.  We consider this property to be "Blue Swallow, North" and 100% plan to return. This Motor Inn is absolutely a gem! It's so clean and so cute! All the rooms are themed! We stayed in the Sombrero room and it is so cute! All vintage which I love! The room was $74 for our queen size super comfy bed! Everything is immaculate! The owners are great and graciously stayed a few minutes over for us to get checked in! They close at 9pm so get your reservations before that time. I will choose places like this over high dollar hotels every time!

The same experience as many years ago. The rooms are clean, the folks are friendly, and the rate is reasonable. I really like the individual touch for each one of the rooms. This time I stayed in Lucky 13. A room themed for B-Horror movies. The beds are very comfortable with firm mattresses. The place is spotless.

If the sign didn't say Raton Pass....you'd swear you are on Historic Route 66

Jason and Lori are wonderful people who have come up with a business model that gives one the "feel" that you are on Historic Route 66. The Hot Rods out front, and the decor really contributed to the charm. Visiting with Jason, I felt comfortable, as if I were visiting a lifelong friend. They have PET FRIENDLY rooms which are immaculately cleaned. I will most definitely be staying with them on future trips to the area. Thank you for a wonderful weekend away from home. Really nice retro motel. Each room has a theme and the lobby area is filled with fascinating items. Best retro motel I've ever stayed in.

I did the online check in option which was a little confusing as they made it seem mandatory, but it is not. The benefit of it though is that we were checking in late around 10pm and you can note it. Check in was easy and the women behind the desk was very friendly. We had an issue finding my reservation, but it was because I had already checked in online. For it being almost 10pm she was in a great mood! :) They were doing a lot of construction which was an eye sore but maybe it will improve the outdated style. The room was basic. Bed, shower and couch. On a cleanliness factor it was around a 6.5/7. There were stains on the floor and a few dust piles but nothing obscene. It did the job while we slept for a few hours. It seemed to be basically empty with a few other cars in the lot, so we didn't hear anyone. It did seem a little run down when it came to the broken laundry food, and the vending machine rooms being fairly empty. Enjoyed the fact that they had a continental breakfast. It had some juice options, waffle maker, fruit yogurt, coffee, bagels and toast. Wish they did have something with protein like hard boiled eggs, a tea option would be nice too, but it did the trick. Overall, 3.5/5 stars. I wouldn't choose to stay here for more than a night maybe two but in a pinch it all worked out.

It had recently snowed, so the parking lot was a winter wonderland. It was late, around midnight - but the doors were open and the manager (or new owner maybe?) Pete was very welcoming. Got set up with a room for just over $80 bucks. The room was small compared to most hotels, and dressed with basic furniture and bathroom amenities. It was clean, the toilet worked, and the memory foam mattress made me feel like I was in heaven. I slept for 7 solid hours. No outdoor noises, no upstairs stomping - frankly no complaints during my short experience. Pete even let me park the loaded truck in front of the office for mental security. There is currently no breakfast offered (Pete says it's in progress) and no vending machines or snacks/drinks available in the lobby. There are some gas stations and restaurants nearby, but I didn't have the energy to deal with walking in the ice/snow that late... Overall it was an easy go-to for a quick restful visit. With a few room upgrades and the soon to come breakfast, I think this place will have some potential. Pete is very friendly and the chick working alongside him had really cool hair.

The staff is very friendly but that does not make up for a room that is damaged, with floors that have not been cleaned. The ceiling had a previous leak or damage and the repair was by a handyman and not professionally done. The bathroom door had a 4 inch hole in it on the back side and the general condition of this property is "fair". There was old dilapidated furniture stuffed into the hallways under the stair cases that appeared to have been there for some extended length of time. The internet connection did not work as the password given was not correct. I visited the office 3 times to resolve this issue (had to go to the office as the room phone did not function - safety hazard!!)....and the best the office could tell me was to check with some of the teenagers who had just checked into their rooms....they could not get it to work either. I paid $145 for this one night stay....should have been 50-60 at most. The overall condition of the property on the exterior was unkempt and run down looking....will not be staying here again. Whomever is the area oversight manager for Wyndham should really take time to inspect this property before advertising it.
