Honestly, the people that work here were SO nice I am literally trying to find a reason to give it more stars. Very courteous and friendly. But here's where they fell short: 1. TERRIBLE wifi. I could only get 2 mbps no matter what I tried. 1st world problem, I know, but for $91.00 a night...? Just saying... 2. $30.00 pet fee for a room that hasn't been renovated in 40 years, including a dilapidated floor that is coming up in chunks so bad it cut my toe! I get a pet fee if there is a floor to be damaged, but room 121 is way past protecting. 3. My room shared a wall with an abandoned meeting room or office of some kind, and there was a door between my room and that "storage area" that had the keyed lock on THEIR side. I propped a chair against it and hoped for the best. The place is old and tired, but the room was clean and quiet. And like I said, the folks that work there cool, which helps. BUT, $120.00 a night (including pet fee) for a room with rotting floors, a door that doesn't lock, and an antique a/c unit that sounds like a B-52 engine is a bit much to ask. Hope they get some of that Howard Johnson money and get her fixed up. read more

We stayed the night in the Inn and it's older, but well kept! Staff were nice & breakfast is free. The best part is it actually comes from the restaurant, so no microwaved eggs! read more

I've stayed at places similar to this for $40 per night and was ok with the stay... but $160 for this place is outlandish.. how this place has such a high rating on Hotels dot com I'll never understand.. the soda and vending machines are from the 80's and haven't been stocked since the 90's.. pool closed, our TV was broken, they offer free breakfast but don't disclose in ad that 90% of the menu is an upcharge.. we paid extra for a larger room because the ad made it seem huge, we figured we could watch tv while the kids slept... It was about the size of any average hotel I've ever been to (and I travel for a living as an airline captain) so I'd hate to see their "standard room".. the place was old and beds/pillows were uncomfortable, overall a terrible value.. this place should be charging half what we paid for the quality/condition of the motel. read more

What a wonderful surprise hotel!!! After checking into one of the choice hotels here in Raton and walking out because of abject filth and bugs... We came here at 4:45 AM. It's older and nothing fancy but is absolutely spotless clean and comes with a made to order breakfast in the morning within the on-site Mexican restaurant. No limit on size of pet and no pet fees. Even a fenced area with doggie bags provided. They really care about customer service and beds were comfortable. I love effort and the effort here shows. Don't hesitate to stay here. The website says pet friendly, there are NO SIGNS IN THE LOBBY THAT SAYS PET FEE or on the receipt they have you sign for not smoking. . Now they are changing us $100. The beds are hard as a rock. The house keeper knocked on the door at 7 am while we were still sleeping. I would give them a minus if I could. The people at the front desk are very rude. read more

Really Nice for $100 per nite. and get a free breakfast at their connected restaurant. the bed was very good. the rooms were huge ,the tv and remote worked great (many time they don't), the carpet was clean (I did yoga on it), no ugly smells in the room, very quiet, the motel is enclosed in a circle so I felt my vehicle was safe, the staff was very friendly courteous and helpful, water tasted good, bathroom was spacious and clean. For a $125 room I'd expect so much more. Had to turn the undersized A/C window styke unit on and it didn't cool the room down for 5 hours. If you don't mind sweating most of the night then I guess you can stay there! I'd tell all my friends to avoid it though!! read more

First of all, I made a reservation for a Howard Johnson's hotel, which turned out to be Casa Lemus. We couldn't even find the hotel because it wasn't identified as Howard Johnson's. The rooms were clean but basic, like an old motel. There was no grass anywhere, and the dog area was a closed-in area with a surface of rocks, pretty uncomfortable for our dog to walk around in. There was supposedly a pool, but it was closed and looked permanently closed. There was supposed to be a restaurant, but it was closed that day. The "office" was in the restaurant and didn't provide much except a room key and a small sack breakfast to go. We came through Raton a week later and we stayed at the Quality Inn. It was so much nicer and just a few dollars more. read more

The room I was given was absolutely horrible. The furniture is cheap and torn. The pillows are very cheap. Construction was going on next door and the walls were literally shaking until 10pm! Black mold was growing around and inside the shower drain. The toilet is an child's toilet very low to the ground and looks 60 years old. The AC smelled like death. It is property is partly abandoned and the "Construction people" look to be refugees and stay in the abandoned office with the doors open all night. Very sketchy! Also the free breakfast is a complete scam. I also had food poisoning from the nasty tanted food. Avoid this trap! read more

While traveling in stopped for an early dinner here. This Mexican food was good. I enjoyed a beer with my salad and meal. It was nice to sit and enjoy a meal while on the road. I recommend this restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. read more

I needed a room for the night due to an unexpected stop due to weather. The other hotel I tried to use was full and recommended them. $65 a night for a basic room was reasonable. I am very pleased with our stay here. Price was good $60 a night for 1 queen bed. Perfect for me & my mom. Room was cute, had mini fridge, microwave, ironing board, coffee station, and even a heat timer in the restroom. Room & restroom were clean. Outside looks like it's under construction but I'm sure it will look great once they're done. Even better is that it also includes a restaurant & guest get free breakfast of select items. Plenty to choose from. I would definitely stay here again. read more

We are grateful that this place was recommended to us by our tow truck driver! We will be here two nights total, and the staff has been very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast in the mexican restaurant was cooked to order and they had a lot of different options, which was quite good. My son's breakfast burrito was too big for him to finish. It is an older motel, but it is clean and has a fridge and microwave and has pet-friendly rooms. read more

We stayed there a week ago .. got 2 queen beds and a roll away. I'll just list the issues 1) door is stuck, can't open/close it easily at all. MUST use the hinge lock to ensure it's shut 2) rollaway bed had an earwig in it and then I got attitude when I was leery of our existing bedding being bug free. 3) Tried to use the phone to call the front desk about the earwig situation - phone did not work - therefore I had to go up to the front desk to tell them about that + the phone. 4) sign out front of hotel/etc advertises $5 breakfasts - but those are only available IF you're a guest of the hotel. Otherwise you must order off the main menu. 5) Guests must order off the hotel part of the menu for their free breakfast (thats fine) but you can only order the drink that comes with particular meal (ie: if the pancakes only comes with tea and coffee, you cannot order juice even if its offered on another hotel meal. 6) Waitress was incapable of explaining the "special rules" of the menu until after things were either eaten or sipped - even tho we told her we were eating the hotel breakfast. More like when we questioned the additional charges for milk or juice. I've seen reviews that rave about the cook to order breakfast. I find it mediocre at best - a big greasy and tasteless - definitely a greasy spoon type of place and not in the good way ---- disguised behind a Mexican type name All in all, i'd rather spend more money someplace else and eat a continental breakfast and ensure i'm not coming home with small hitchhikers from their rooms. read more

First problem was my King sized non-smoking suite was given to someone else and we were stuck in a small queen. The bed was very soft and caved in the middle. The walls were so thin that we were up until all hours waiting for our neighbor's dog to stop barking. Every time someone closed a door outside, the room rattled. We traveled from Eastern Texas and had a little dog with us. I found this hotel on fido.com and read the reviews before booking a night in the beginning June. It turned out to be just like they said, good service, welcoming, and clean. It is a little older place but was very clean. The staff was knowledable and friendly and we were so dead tired from driving, we had no problem getting to sleep. It was quiet and safe enough and even the little dog was dead dog tired, so we were all happy to meet up with this place. I plan to come back and I found their restaurant to be very convenient and was good food as well. The room was affordable and did not smell like dogs. Nice place for travelers! read more

We have stayed at Casa Lemus twice now and both stays have been excellent! It's not fancy but the rooms are remodeled and extremely clean. The staff was polite and accommodating from check in to check out. Their rooms are VERY reasonably priced. The rooms have a few quirks, had to pull the door handle up to open rather than down, shower was a little weird too use, but no big deal. Breakfast comes with the room and I was very pleasantly surprised it wasn't continental, it was an actual hot breakfast from the restaraunt! They have about six or seven meals to choose from. I had a one egg breakfast with sausage, hash browns and toast. My husband had the breakfast skillet which included country style potatoes, bell peppers, onion and tomato, cheese and one egg. Okay, let's just start with this.... We got a wine margarita... just so happens to taste EXACTLY like the Margarita mix located in my freezer at home. And $1 for a refill of salsa? (Aside from the fact they don't have questo at all) I mean... Come on, that's what makes us buy more nasty margaritas! Now onto the appetizer we ordered the Botana Plater... it was overly filled nachos, with children's quesadilla, and a flautas with a toothpick stuck inside. My wife bit into that sucker! My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Lemus while traveling to Taos. It is a motel and restaurant conveniently located near I25, in Raton, New Mexico. The motel, although it is a no frills kind of place, is clean and inexpensive. We stayed the night and were quite comfortable. The Casa Lemus restaurant is located next door to the motel. We ate there for dinner after a long travel day and our meal was very good. The menu features a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and the portions were generous. The service was excellent as was all the service we received from both the restaurant and the motel. If you stay at motel, guests receive a discount on breakfast with some items being free all together. We will definitely plan to stay here again. I give some credit to true mom & pop (non franchise) motels. It's not an easy business and it's easy to cut corners that your customers won't discover until they're already committed. So I'm willing to accept an exterior that isn't polished, if they have the right priorities: a good bed, clean & a good value. This hotel has all that. If you read the reviews you can see that. We found a mouse in our hotel room when we woke up in the morning. After being rushed out of the room from the mouse (none the less trying to dodge the thing as it ran around the room), we proceeded to the front desk where the employee said she couldn't do anything. We called later that day to speak with management who said they would "see what they could do" and give us a call later. Of course they never called, nor did we get any refund or discount for a future visit. Never even an apology for there being a rodent in our room. Would NOT suggest this place to anyone. read more

I ended up staying there and have to say it worked out great. The hotel isn't new, but the rooms were clean and it was quiet. DO NOT STAY HERE...booked the reservation online because it was a last minute decision to stay. Get to the hotel late at night and someone loitering in the parking lot was walking around tapping on all windows which made us feel uneasy about the area. We decided we would rather keep going but they would not refund our money so they pretty much forced us to stay and pay for the two rooms. The next morning a bed bug runs across the sheets. We go and tell management and they said they would fix this but didn't offer a refund and had no suggestions on how to "fix" the problem. Would never go back. read more
