One of the reasons I went to the Irish Open is that I could spend some time watching some epic golf…read morebut also not bore the hell out of my wife. Why? The course is so beautiful, so scenic, she never got bored. The other great thing is you can play the Championship-level course. They offered the opportunity to play the course 4 days after the tourney, and with championship tees for £190. Awesome. I wished we had stayed longer, as you can get a whole week in the summer for £150. Fall and spring is £90 and winter is £60. Since it only gets into the mid 40s in the winter, I'll be back. Also, the Club did a great job with the Irish Open. The links course was immaculate and held up in the wind and the constant drizzle of rain.

The three courses are: the Strand Course (par 72), a championship course, the Riverside Course (par 68) and the Old Course (par 64), which is where the club was founded in 1894.[1] The late 1980s saw major development of the Strand course with the layout updated and seven new holes added. In 1992 the new Strand course, designed by Des Giffin, opened for play.[2] The club opened a new clubhouse facility in May 2009. The Golf Club holds what is often suggested as the finest opening hole in Ireland.

I do play golf and yes you should make the trip Donegal Golf…read moreClub at Murvagh is an outstanding links masterpiece of a golf course. Designed by the legendary course architect, Eddie Hackett, it is continually featured in Golf World's Top 100 courses in Ireland and Great Britain. Donegal Golf Club was founded in 1959 and the first golf course and clubhouse was built on the edge of Donegal Town at Tullycullion. In the early 70's some far-sighted members identified the links land of the Murvagh Peninsula as being more than suitable for a golf course. The course and new clubhouse was officially opened in 1976. Since then the course has undergone some changes with major remodelling at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 12th, 13th and 14th. The club has all services including range and short game areas as well as food options . Again: use s caddie

The drive to get to the peninsula brings you down a dead straight tree lined avenue which is about 1.5km long. It opens onto what I would describe as perfect links land. This is billed as one of the longest golf courses in Europe, and the card says it measures around 7,500 yards from the back tees. The information doesn't prepare you for the vastness of this course, the sense of space and being away from it all is joyful. And what a course, it is challenging, fair, and stunning. I highly recommend this course to any golfer! Great welcome in the clubhouse too!

Citigolf - The perfect location for a stag party - you don't even have to like golf

All I can say is that if you haven't been to Citigolf then you should go. It's different, it's fun,…read moreit's active and it has plenty on offer. The concept of Citigolf is pretty simple, you are presented with real golf clubs, a real ball and a simulator screen and a variety of courses to choose from. Then all you do is swing your club and hope for the best, well that's what I did anyway. This might sound complicated but don't worry you'll be in the capable hands of Andrew the host who talks you through the technique and instructions in perfect detail. What's that I hear you say? 'I'm not that in to golf?!' Well that's the beauty of the place it's not just golf you can use the (at least) 8ft screens to play the Wii, Xbox connect or even sing your favourite Frozen song on Karaoke. But whatever you do, don't do what I did and get beaten at connect boxing by a girl - it's embarrassing for everyone. There's also a fully stocked licenced bar and a kitchen. We took advantage of a pizza, golf/connect and drink deal for £20 a head and that gave us 2 hours game time. Make sure you book ahead if you want to go - Andrew is even impeccable on the phone and he will talk you through deals that are on. I would just keep in mind that the actual Golf is relatively difficult. I could imagine it would be excellent for stag parties but definitely don't wait for a friend to get down on one knee before you check this place out. Northern Ireland has had a bit of a golf revolution over the last few years but Citigolf may just create a fun revolution of their own in Belfast City!

When the invites went out there were a lot of questions as to what exactly we would be doing, with no one having been before. Needless to say, there was a lot of scepticism about the night, however, intrigue certainly helped keep the numbers up. We were greeted on arrival by Barry, who I believe owns the business. He explained how the night would run, starting with teams being picked 'playground styley'. It's amazing how quickly that fear sets in that you may be left until last (I wasn't in case you are worried). Being somewhat competitive the evening was perfect for me. The games included quizes, bobsled, running races, dance mats, karaoke and cracker eating competitions. Barry was a fab host, quickly familiarising himself with our group and referring to us by name (nice touch). We were served a warm curry and wedges half way through the night to help soak up the alcohol, which was served by the lovely Nico. He too was very friendly, remembering my drink order each time - not sure if that says more about him or me! Haven't tried this place on a 'normal' booking, however I would look no further for a group. Great craic and Barry allowed us to stay on after and have our own karaoke, probably to assist the bar sales!
